Steve - I'm 64, so a little older than you, and I am a white female. My mother taught me about discrimination when I was young, so I was raised a very open minded liberal thinking woman. I remember the FIRST black allowed to attend my middle school and always felt so proud of him and how strong a person he must be. Your and my memories are so very similar other than I am white. My mother taught me about trying to "walk in the shoes of another" and I've tried to do this all my life. When I voted this year, I voted with the younger generations in mind. I knew that whoever appoints justices to our Supreme Court - that those Justices will likely be there when I die. For the first time in my life, I am now afraid for minorities and for immigrants, legal or illegal. I'm very sad. All I can say is that EVERYone needs to vote in EVERY election - which is how I was brought up. In two years, we need to work on any seats in Congress up for re-election and in four years, I hope we have it together to really make some changes. I watch you every day, know your back story - and along with you, I count my blessings! Thanks for all you do.

btw... Sorry to change topic: Re: The rise in Pre-1960s Rhetoric since the Elections -To me it seems bizarre why any PATRIOTIC American who has studied the USA's sacrifices in The Second World War, or who has watched any Hollywood WW2 movies... Why would they even want to be associated with THAT flag?.... The one showing a symbol used by America's former enemies, the Nazis of tar German Third Reich, whose armies killed millions of American & Allied soldiers from 1939 - 1945! To me seems unpatriotic to wave their flag in America.

I was in the second grade when President Kennedy came to my School in a black neighborhood all the children had gone home except for me and another kid, we were heading out the gate when all of a sudden a Teacher said "Kids look up!" We both looked up and President Kennedy was looking out the bungalow window waving at us, smiling, and we smiled and waved back, that was a special moment for me because I cared so much for him being a little kid and nothing can ever take that memory from me.

speaking from an outside opinion, there have been no "girlfriends/boyfriends, no impeachment, no sexual assault allegations during Barack Obama's presidency. He seems to have been blocked at each and every turn trying to do right. He has conducted himself with dignity and I think that you americans may see his "tour" differently this time next year. I hope I'm wrong, so very wrong, but I fear for you and wish you well

"Ain't no path to legal immigration." Bullshit. my stepmother is from India, got here legally BEFORE she married my dad. Took about a year and a half. She had marketable skills, no criminal record, and was patient. Coming from a nation far more impoverished than Mexico. I like Steve Harvey and he presents some great conversation points. But when people say there is no way to get here legally it's just not true. It takes time, you have to have something to contribute, and criminals are going to have a hard time. But there is a path to legal immigration.

TheNunoTubes "A lot has changed." Um, Obama has been president for the past 8 years. He promised change, there you go. Not that its your business but her process started in the early 2000's. Show me or even link the legislation changes on immigration since then. Are you implying that there is no longer a path to legal immigration?

Our vote is important but we need to use it not just for the President election. People, if your community and education system is not up to par. Please stop blaming the President. Blame yourselves on some of this stuff. Get off your ass and petition the city council, Mayor, Governor, State Representatives, Police Dept. Sheriff Dept. There are Federal and State laws. Vote, go to meetings, Talk to your pastors and decons they are suppose to be the leaders in the community. If you get members from ever church to get on board, I guarantee you a change will happen. If the council see you all walk in that door together... Man that's power.

Thank you Mr Harvey, I felt your honesty and love in that message. I wish I had answers. See I was privileged, my mother and father taught me to love all my fellow humans. I am about 12 years younger than you. I was lucky to grow up in Southern California during a time when a friend was a friend no matter what skin color. Racism is alien to me. My only answer is respect and patience. Love your enemies and pray for them. Defend yourself but remember they know not what they do. Peace and Love.

    • @thatsisterwithcurves9343
      @thatsisterwithcurves9343 Před 7 lety +4

LT Boone I agree with U wholeheartedly. Our people do not realize how our ancestors were willing to risk their own lives as well as the lives of their loved ones, walked long distances, waited in long lines just to cast their 1 vote. Voting for us is not a privilege, it is much more than it. Voting is not just a right for us, it is more than that. Voting, for us means change. I get very fluster when I hear my people say " voting will not make a difference, votes/my vote don't mean anything, won't make a difference" what the hell? Your vote could be that 1 vote that breaks a tie. Why our people can see that our vote makes a difference. Why are they out there courting Your vote, during an election season. Why to they come to us, blowing sunshine up our azzes, promising a change that will not happen, yet they come to us with the same ole song, different faces, nothing new under the sun. They want your vote, without it, they don't stand a hell. Our vote collectively can make a difference. Don't like the candidates, we are and were not limited to those 2. Research prospective candidates on their record where they stand on issues that concerns you and your people. I, too had said that this would be the 1st general election I was sitting out. No way, could I have forced myself to cast a vote for either of the 2 candidates that won their party's nomination, I could not do it, however I could not face myself if I did not vote, allowing my voice to be heard. I could not sit at home knowing that my people would have giving their right arm, just to walk into a polling station, cast their voice by casting their 1 vote, which could be that 1 vote that puts their candidate in office. In my family, we don't care what you do throughout the day, however before the poll closes, you best to have cast your vote at the polls. When my siblings and I became of voting age, one thing that was certain in our parents house, you live under my roof, your behind will be voting on election day. Mom, after casting her vote would check the roll for all living under the household for those of us who had been to the polls before her and who has not voted yet. Funny thing, that same principal applies to my household. I try to stay current politically, and we discuss issues that trouble us so when it comes to casting our vote, if they are not going to do squat for us and our people as a whole, they do not get the votes of my household. Our people vote does matter, and none of our votes casted is a wasted vote, unless there was voter rigging or sabotaging, either could be used interchangeably going on and that is a Federal offense, well it suppose to be, against the Law. My melanin people, fam, Vote.

We alone will always fall short in our own strength; even when we work together. All of our efforts are but in vain, if we don't put Jesus first. He died and rose, so that we may overcome the works of the devil and demons; like He did. What I mean is that we need God's love in ur hearts and when that spreads, things will change.

The best way to close a divide is to quit focusing on the color of one's skin and focus on our shared humanity. We are all created in God's image and the color of one's skin is irrelevant, until people realize this no progress can be made. Being white, black, yellow, or brown is nothing to be proud of, no accomplishment there, it just means you were born. What really counts is your soul, are you trusting in government or Christ? Government can't save you only Christ can. No matter who got elected, God was, is always in control. If you are a believer, regardless of circumstances there is a peace that passes all understanding, a peace that non believers don't, can't understand. So, don't be so disheartened, Trump being elected is not the end of the world, he is very pro-life, pro-family, and wants all Americans to have an opportunity to succeed. Remember that equality is not about outcomes but opportunities.

If this would make them vote in the future, it's a good thing. It's irritating for blacks to think they have a choice to vote as if they get treated equally when they know they don't. Maybe we should go back to like it was in the 50's/60's. Maybe that is what blacks need to make them get off they asses and vote.

    • @horatio6313
      @horatio6313 Před 7 lety +3

We are not just lacking leadership political wise but also in terms of black leadership. Where are the Malcom X, Martin Luther King. Blacks need an education in terms of the importance of voting. Most youth don't think about voting because half of them don't even have parent that vote. So if the parents aren't going to vote, then how are they are going to learn the importance of voting?? But yet some of them can go and wait in a 3hr line for a pair tennis shoes. How pathetic is that? Also Church communities need to bring up the importance of voting and implications that could happen if you don't vote. There is a saying that it "Takes a Village" and that is certainly true for blacks because most of the time they come from a home where they parents don't vote. If your parents don't vote, more likely you will not vote. Sometimes I get so frustrated with Blacks and there ignorance. We seem to value so many things that is of no importance and ignore the things that are very important such as voting.

Dear Mr. Harvey:. I am a white 59-year old woman from San Franicsco with a Master's degree.
Believe me, there are millions of white peopl like me who share your shock, horror and dismay -- and have been heeding your call (and that of others) for good people to GET TO WORK.
I can tell you that my fear is that people of other colors will believe that I hate them and want to do them some kind of wrong. And NOTHING could be further from the truth. So, please, let's refuse to believe that. EXPECT people -- of all colors, of all faiths, or all sexual orientations -- to be good, decent, kind and human. REFUSE to believe that people of another ethnicity or skin color hate you and are "out to get" you. REFUSE.
Yes, some people are filled with racism and hate. Some -- not most.
Fear and suspicionof each other is a disease. If Trump and Bannon and their cadre can inject it into into our culture -- he can so easiy "divide and conquer
. Yes, there are those who do. But those are people who always have. Racism is a disease -- and fear is what makes it grow.
If we approach people with pleasant look on our face and brief nod of the head to acknowledge them... or say to the person stocking the shelves in the store "hi, how's it going?" --just that little action can reduce a lot of fear. And it also shows others a different way to behave.
I have lived in one of the most multicultural neighborhoods in America all my life: Russian Orthodox (Catholic), Conservative Russian Jews, , Chinese, Vietnamese, Thai, gay, straight, Latino (not as many African Americans as there were before "urban renewal" in the early 1970s...ahem...) Do I have people of all faiths and colors and ethnicities to my home for dinner? No. But we all mix on the streets and the parks and there are no names called, there is no shoving, or violence. I think I speak for most people when I say that we enjoy being able to eat at restaurants offering any type of authentic ethnic cuisine, that we have fun going to the Chinese New Year Parade or celebrating St. Patrick's Day -- it ENRICHES our lives.
Obama's presidency changed the racial history of this country forever. It's true that you cannnot hold another person down without holding yourselve down, too. We CANNOT go back. And we must all take personal responsibility to "be the change you want to see in the world."

A person's focus determines their outlook. Steve said repeatedly in this broadcast that this election was not about issues, and I think he was dead wrong. He was focused on the mess, which is how he missed the major issues discussed in the debates that tipped the race to Trump -- immigration, TPP, the Supreme Court, and pushback from Black Lives Matter extremism.

I will never get many to agree with this response so I accept the outcome all the same. Hillary Clinton isn't a perfect person, politician, nor wife. She has however attempted to serve in capacities that were controversial and unpopular in a direction that attempted to meet the needs of those who needed it. She has made comments about crime bills that had the right intentions but untested and inclusive results that were mostly the ideas of her husband's administration. She wasn't outright responsible for the deaths in Benghazi but regardless responsible for the actions her department took in the interim. Whether there were 30 or 30,000 emails deleted they never posed an ACTUAL national security risk, only a probable one. I would like to note that although her emails were on private unsecured servers, the NSA, Pentagon, and even White House emails were hacked but not hers.
Donald Trump on the other hand has spent his entire career on the backs of people who never stood much to gain if he didn't first. That includes his own brother (look it up). I won't go in to great detail about what Trump is really about, but the media doesn't have to make up what is public record. He created this record without any assistance from the media and they fulfilled their obligation to reveal it, like it or not. I do agree with Brent Wiggins though, we must make the most of what is going on and the continued fight to treat him like the Republican Congress treated Barack Obama is counterproductive.

I am so amazed at you Steve Harvey. You were ok with him as a person before. Many people didn't like you and didn't believed you turned your life from a stand up comedian to a Christian. And I did, because I know God can use anyone. I gave you a chance. And when I saw you on TBN I got excited, and knew there was hope. but even in your family feud show people seem to say you're far from changed. But I still say you're a work in progress. It's ok to think how ever you want, but to voice it to so many people who believe in you, with so much hate in your words, and to think you can't trust that God's got this. Then I have to say. I hope the work that God started in you is still in progress. Because all that you talk about is how politics works, and if you did your homework you would know. He's a saint compared to Hillary. And through out the floods etc he's done a lot for those people and Hillary nor Obama did anything. God chose him for such a time as this. God bless you and family.

He's spewing hate?? When he's only repeating the things that have come from Trumps mouth! WOW! He's absolutely right; blacks don't have a history of America being so great for them! Unless you know Hillary or Trump personally, how can you even make such assumption as, Trump is a saint compared to Hillary?! He spoke TRUTH! I've come to learn that this country (especially white americans) only think that the facts are hate, when others are in denial of the facts. Given your comment, you seem like a true being of God, so for that, I respect your opinion. however, I do disagree.

C Youngblood I can say that he's a saint compare to Hillary because he has given his life to Christ. he also has asked 12,different pastors who I truly respect to pray for him, he goes to church. what he has done in the past before he became a Christian is washed clean. we all are given the same promise. he still has those pastors praying for him on a,daily basis. and they swap out days to call him and pray with him. Christians are called saints in Christ. but I'm not saying he's a,saint. but compare to Hillary he is. She has so many crimes that she has and still is committing. she covers up her husband sexual abuse. and threatens the women, her husband also has two illigitimate children and she always threatens the people. Don't even get me started about all the other stuff she's involved in. look it up. look up wikileaks you'll see lots more. look up Bill Clinton son Danny and other daughter.look up Bill's impeachment. on and on.

Yeah trump sounds like a real Christian alright. A real man of the people. Keep telling yourselves he's the answer for all this country's problem and see if that helps. I still can't figure this out. Too bad people that didn't vote for that fool will suffer for those that did. This country is a joke to other countries. I'm very worried about the future of people like me who doesn't have money or power or inside connections cause we will suffer. Does anybody actually listen to his words? All u hear is gonna have jobs for everybody and something terrific for health insurance and drain the swamp and blah blah blah. He's a lunatic.

Peace. I'm a 60yr white guy and I'm with you. Is change needed in the way the government operates? Yep. What precisely is the change that's been offered. There's no way to say. It sure was never explained during the campaign. Just alot of name calling, finger pointing and scapegoating. It's always someone else's fault. No doubt, there are some bad actors and forces at work. At the end of the day though we get the country and government we deserve. If we don't vote and/or don't hold the politicians elected to their word; we get what we deserve. It's stunning to me all the work and service to our country that our parents and all those that preceeded them did to give us what we so easily take for granted. Voting isn't just a right, it's an obligation because for God's sake people died for the right. Again, peace. I'm with you.

Whatever the outcome in any election, my ancestors sacrificed so much, for me to have not voted. And for the ones who did not vote, why have anything to say about the outcome. The ones that voted for the lesser of two evils; words can not explain these actions to me. My God ask only that we love each other as he loves us. Many of us want to live in a peaceful world, a unprejudiced, unselfish society.
The words of F. Bird. "These past few days since the election has shown me complacency is just as dangerous as hatred". It will take all kinds of races and creeds that live in the US to help keep America Great, so we can unite as people and nation.

“There is another class of coloured people who make a business of keeping the troubles, the wrongs and the hardships of the Negro race before the public. Having learned that they are able to make a living out of their troubles, they have grown into the settled habit of advertising their wrongs - partly because they want sympathy and partly because it pays. Some of these people do not want the Negro to lose his grievances, because they do not want to lose their jobs.”-Booker T. Washington 1911

Even though I don't listen to the Steve Harvey radio show or any other Steve Harvey entities,I must admit this was as very heartfelt commentary. Some black people blamed Obama for not doing more for the black communities, but he did as much as he could under the circumstances. And I do agree this was the worst political campaign that I have ever seen in my sixty plus years. If anything came out of this election it is we must really realize just how important our votes really are!! We now see what can happen when we choose not to vote.
Lastly,we've gotten through worst times than appear ahead of us,but pay attention,we are not the only ones who are disappointed. just look at who's out doing most of the protesting.
Thank you Steve for your commentary.

Steve Harvey you are wrong! There is a legal way of coming into this country and MANY people have done it legally. I migrated into this country with my family from Romania when I was just 3 years old, but we did it the LEGAL WAY! We then had to go through the process of naturalization to become citizens years later. And yes it did take years for my parents to be accepted, but eventually we were. But that IS the process! And considering the real threat of Islamic terror across the globe, I am SOO GLAD someone had the balls to stand up and tell it like it is (Donald Trump) !! And if you do your research, most illegal immigrants come through Mexico, but not all of them are Mexican! And that's where the idea of putting up the wall came from. Islamic extremist have been using Mexico as their way in illegally, along with many other people from different countries and yes Romania included. Unfortunately the media loves distorting the truth and anyone willing to stand up for the truth and fight for our country and is a nationalist, is then deemed a racist and a bigot!
I know you're a faith based man, so I'll leave you with this reminder from the word,.. Daniel 2:21, the Lord sets up kings and the Lord removes kings.. Have faith that God set Donald Trump up to usher in a new Era as you said.. But it will be an Era of prosperity, strength and peace.. Just give it time 😆✌️

I agree with Mr. Steve, however I actually I brought my husband and stepsons/sons here legally from the Dominican Republic.
I will say though that the Conuslars gave us Hell for no reason but we fought back hard. They do make it harder for people not from European countries to enter into the US and that's why people enter illegally. That's just not what I wanted for my family because I didn't want that risk of deportation and not being able to get a decent job or education without looking over their backs.
