- Fay Da Bakery became the most iconic Chinese bakery in New York City by serving a large selection of high-quality, low-priced Chinese breads and pastries. If you’re looking for egg tarts, roasted pork buns, or pineapple buns, chances are you can find it at Fay Da. Han Chou opened the first Fay Da Bakery in 1991. It was instantly popular with its classic Chinese breads, which are its most popular items today. Since then, Fay Da Bakery has expanded to 13 store locations and become a go-to place to get Chinese bread and birthday cakes.

How Fay Da Bakery Became NYC's Most Iconic Chinese Bakery | Legendary Eats - Jak na to + styl
That manager is the yummiest of them all.
oh my gosh I just started laughing when I saw this comment lol
uh off topic here lol
Don't you eat his freshly baked buns...
Wooahh 😋😋😋🤪🤪🥴😳
Hahah Agree !
I laughed out hard when I see 4 of the top 5 comments talk about the hot GM. Girls we hungry
And boys 😉😉
How many times did they show the opening of a pork bun?
4-5
Exactly 4 times
Alex 4
Alex right lol that was annoying
thats not a pork bun . its a bun with red bean paste filling and is sweet
Cameraman: So we got about 3 minutes of footage.
Insider: Ok so we can make a 10 minute video, lets just show the same footage but cut and edit them slightly differently.
That general manager 😍😍😍
Yaaaasss - wondering if he’s single - (asking for a friend) lolz
Yes. I am even more interested in his buns
@@blahblahblah6036 which bun(s)? 😂
@@najuhary 😏😏😏
Now you know why they made him the GM
Omg I go there a lot!i eat it’s egg tarts and it’s really creamy and soft + moist.
Lonny Po wow, I’m a little jealous. 😋But it’s really really good, isn’t?👍
take me
Me want fay da bakery's buns, including the manager's 😉
LMAO thirsthy
They legit only show him for like 2 seconds and all the comments are about him 😂😂
SJKSJK
I wanna talk to the manager...
And marry him
Me too 😊
😳
👍
I always assumed Fay Da was just a chain and usually walk right past it and into the mom and pop bakeries when I'm in Chinatown.
Fay Da, in my opinion, isn't very good at all. Some of the mom & pops are better. I think Taipan is better bakery.
@@trendthis364 I usually go to Mei Lai Wah and Lung Moon.
@@inframinced6698 I'll have to check those out! In Chinatown BK, Flushing or Manhattan?
@@trendthis364 Both are in Manhattan.
@@inframinced6698 im in there!
How many pork buns do you want in a video?
Insider: yes
I want Mike Chen from strictly dumpling to go here and review the place.
Purple Unicorn why ? Everything taste good for Mike Chen.
Or the Fung Bros
Mike Chen is "fa lun gong 法轮功" and carries energy that repels good Chinese people ...
Abel Villa agreed. Went to some of the places he recommended and they were so bad.
I heard he’s in New York for a meet and greet so he might
Fay Da is incredible, their baked goods are great and the workers are always so friendly.
Thank goodness! finally, a producer that actually savors the food she reviews.
杰茜卡ジェシカ yeah she really knows what she’s talking about! It taste crispy and flakey!!!! That’s my favorite flavor as well
@@officialmartin3153 Ikr. I'm not sure where I've seen that video, -Producer- -took- -a- -very- -tinnnyy- -bite- *Boom!* Cliche review incoming.
Totally taste Ammmazing! 😂🤣😂
Need an authentic review please lol
Anyway, totally craving that pork floss bread something too. 😅
Maybe i will oftenly go there just to watch the general manager
I absolutely love this place! Went here the first time in 2006! And I love that I share a name with them 🥰☺️
Please take my money already and open a Fay Da in my city! Next 85 Degree Bakery!
I would totally vlog it for my channel.
I vote Miami!
LA fo sure!!!
Vote for Orlando
@Rockstar Eater where I live I have a 85 degree Bakery just 5-10 minutes away, plus everything they have at Fay Da Bakery I eat a lot
Hi^^👍👍😍🥰😍🥰🇰🇷🖐
I used to live in nyc and day da was my fav bakery ever. I MISS U FAY DAAAA
omg James Chou is so 🔥🔥🔥!
I’ll visit FayDa for sure
The breads are delicious, the manager is handsome.
I've eaten one of those cakes. The mango mousse cake at 0:36. I think it's absolutely delicious! It might be pricey, but I highly recommend it if you like mango!
Yesterday I bought a cake from Fay da, it was so good, and I also liked the packaging the cake comes with plates, forks and candles. it wasn’t so sweet unlike other bakeries in NYC
I love Fay Da’s buns but their coffee is also exceptionally delicious! I wish I knew what kind of coffee beans they use because I crave their coffee every morning 💛
Those breads looks heavenly ... 🤤🤤
Love the egg tarts. Will definitely get them when I visit NYC.
Ooohhhh!! Definitely going there next time I'm in ❤NYC❤!!
ooh that looks super yummy I can go for some right now
It looks so good oml
Great presentation.big like.
Thanks to share
Looks tasty and light ! Great job...
The host is so cute! Well done on explaining everything! Lol to everyone about the hot manager 😂
Fay Da is my favorite bakery in Chinatown. I love their curry puffs.
I have been here a few times. It’s great!
And now im STARVING for a manager bun!!!
They look gorgeous!!!!
Wow! I'm actually amazed that these are really HK bread that can be seen in HK! I absolutely love the Polo bun, and it's is always the go to bun in HK. Egg tarts are the best too 😋 Floss bread is great too 🥺❤
Love their vanilla and chocolate rolls🥳
Their stuff is the bestttttt ❤️❤️❤️
wow. i love their pastries.
Pork buns is my favorite! Damn I want like 10 of them right now! 😋🤤💜
Food Insider is officially the king of reusing footage.
I wish I was in NYC to try this. This is the kind of bakery I would go everyday just like here in my country.
Enjoyed china town bakeries. Very delicious. So many memories.🥮🍰🧁🍩🍘🥧
The customers come for the fresh bread.....
Me: I come to see the general manager 😁 He cute ❤️
I like my roast pork bun saucier inside. I feel like a lot of the bakeries have dry filling and it's mostly bun. Plus the prices have been creeping up. Mom and pop bakeries you can still get a bun for $1.
The prices here are surprisingly reasonable, especially for a major city like NYC. In LA, an egg custard tart is on average $2.00, for example.
Damian Rhea where I’m from... it’s around $1.20+
This looks soo fresh and delicious 😋
I've been eating pineapple buns since forever and I just learned why they were called that lol. Also learned how they make that layer of eggy goodness
Looks delicious
I live by the Jackson Jeights-Roosevelt Ave one, and I stop by almost every day before work. I didn't try everything yet, but my favorite are the chicken sandwich, the steamed roast pork bun, the chocolate walnut bun, and the pineapple coconut bun. Oh, can't forget the tuna bun, so flaky!
I just wanna say that hearing people speak in chinese almost always makes me feel at home since I'm chinese >_>
I love coming here whenever I visit the city! I also visit other chinese bakeries, but these have been so good consistently! If you're into the savory taste, I recommend the pork buns (it literally tastes like a soft dinner roll with pork). If you're into more subtle sweet taste, I recommend the melon buns (simply a soft roll topped with a sugar crust), my fav!
roasted pork bun is my absolute favourite, would love to come if i go to ny 🤩
Been going to the Forest Hills locations for years-nice ladies and affordable eats.
God the pastries there are Frikin heavenly. Especially the egg tarts and the bun with the dried pork on it.
Wow l love it 😍
My faves are the roast pork buns, 墨西哥 (Mexico) buns, cocktail buns, and the Portuguese egg tart. Also best paired with a Hong Kong milk tea.
Omgee I would go crazy for the machta cheese cake forget the rest machata is the love of my life !!!!
I love Fay Da, sesame ball is my fave 😋😋😋
Wow the machine very awesome
Man those stuffed buns looks OUT of this world!
Oh wow I come here all the time and I always get the beef patty bun and the sweet butter bun
Everything is so delicious especially the Manager
I'm mad I'm watching this after the chinese bakery I go to has closed...!!!! I'll have to wait til the morning when they open--you've made me SO HUNGRY!!! AHHHH
I really want to try some of these I Wish I knew about this shop when I was in NY
대박~완죤 좋아~~😱😭🤤👍👍💜
First couple of notes had me going, “hell yeah fugazi!”
That manager makes me think of all sorts of kneading and milking I'd like him to teach me lol
Thank you.
Pork floss IS AMAZING
This was my childhood. Still is 🎂
Didn't know about the matcha cheesecake, learned something new.
Yum...
The egg tarts and dried pork buns are the best
Taiwaneseeee folks! Can hear from the accent
That s what I wanna say😂 but they make traditional Cantonese pastries 🤷🏻♀️ I m from Hong Kong and feel a bit weird🤪
@@salinameow yeah im confused too
@@salinameow some Chinese and Korean even open sushi restaurants, i mean this is fine
YAAAS TAIWANESE LET'S GO!!
Yes and I’m so confused why they’re making Canto/ Hong Kong style baked goods
Boba tea with some good buns, that's the good stuff
"Why don't you have a pork bun in your hand?"..."You look like you could use a pork bun!"..."A man who never eats pork buns, is never a whole man!"
If you get the reference XD
Best character in Sleeping dogs 100%, only slightly edging out Mrs. Chu.
You know you Grew up in Queens Nyc if you know Fay Da bakery. Been going there since my Highschool Days! Shout out to East-West HS ❤️👌😋
The producer didn't have much culinary vocabulary with the way she described the flavors/texture etc.
lmaooo right, apparently crispy is a flavor xD
@@melian7403 I think she meant crispy texture? Idk..
But it’s always like that... Few are those who can describe food compellingly.
@@jasminevilleneuve2991 it's not always like that.
@@melian7403 she's not exactly wrong I mean she has a point
Delicious
Oh iv had some that did have coconut on top see that yellow part trick us no pineapple it’s kinda like concha in Spanish Omg egg custard ! I love how he flats the pineapple bread topping
Foxwoods Casino has a Fay Da Bakery. My favorite baked good from Fay Da Bakery is the vanilla roll.
Looks delicious,..
Montreal Quebec Canada has Cocobun and harmony Chinese bakeries 😋👌
Ok but why is the manager so handsome??? Oh my goodness 😍😍
okay but how much is the manager tho
How much? Where can I buy him?
Delicious bakery
Lol, everyone talking about the manager 😂 I didn't even see him HAHA lolll, I read the comments and had to go back and I was like ohhhh! It's this guy xD
Traditional ways they said but then you see a machine practically make the entire pork bun from beginning to end. They just brush the butter on top.
@Abel Villa
RIGHT.
And the filling for the Roast Pork Buns LOOKS WEIRD.
Being around since 1991 IS NO BIG DEAL.
Many of the CANTONESE BAKERIES in Chinatown, HAVE BEEN AROUND MUCH LONGER !!!
In the Cantonese Bakeries, thy still make the "Char Siu Bow" the REAL TRADITIONAL WAY - BY HAND; + you can
ACTUALLY SEE PIECES OF THE ROAST PORK INSIDE.
Probably they meant traditional recipe
@@mentari2901
With all due respect, I question even if their recipe is "traditional".
Char Siu Bow originated from the Hong Kong/Guang Zhou Area (formerly Canton)
Even here on CZcams, when Westerns make the bun, like Marion's Kitchen + others, you see the cubes of pork inside.
😂
They most likely meant the recipe. They have over a dozen bakeries and said they sell 2k of those pork buns alone in a day. It makes sense for efficiency.
I love love love pineapple and roasted pork buns
I always found the stuff from the one in the SkyView Mall in Flushing to be very pretty... but it all tasted like wonderbread.
I literally go there all the time
Pork buns AMAZING! I miss California
Been there. Best cake ive ever had.
Omg that interview lady used to be my SHSAT teacher
Yuuuuuuum, I wish I lived closer to New York 😭
I'm in love with the Manager
The manager with his chiseled jaws and deep voice. Damn. Hahaa
1:35 that was so satisfying tho
Roast pork and chicken pastry my fave
this video made me realize how little i know about chinese cuisine that isnt dumplings or noodles, holy shit
everything looks so good and hearty, i wanna try some now
Ahah u haven't got into indonesian chinese food.
We need one in California! Everything looks so tasty. :0
One of the Fey Da bakeries in Chinatown had closed down between late 2018 and early 2019. Will be sorely missed.
