South Downs National park Rave up

- Rich & I thought we'd go for nice quiet sunshine ride at the Dyke on the South Downs way, what we saw next was just plain surreal and not a bunch of badgers.
The Bike being used in the Video is a Haibike SL29 being trialled by my company Sort IT (www.sortitquick.co.uk) who provide IT support for small businesses, this is one of the first off road electric bikes to hit the UK.
I brought the bike through the company for work in Brighton -- it has a range of 90 miles... I was out testing it out at the weekend Off Road when I came upon the rave!

Sad to see that these events are illegal. People out enjoying themselves and minding their own business. This country is fucking shit.
Look at the state they made of the place. Litter absolutely everywhere. What's the problem with the huge selection of organised outdoor festivals that run every year in the UK? You know, the ones with proper facilities, camping grounds and the possibility to stay for days and watch a huge number of live acts.
You can't just say that a country is "shit" because a minority of people aren't permitted to take over public places to do whatever they want in them, which in this case happens to be blare shitty music, drink, take drugs and generally fuck up a national park.
Well said sdakouls. If people weren't literring the shit out of the place and loading up on drugs in a public place where children can go it wouldn't be so bad. You wanna rave, do it in your own property, stop destroying our country side. Kids don't need to see people jumping about drunk and on a cocktail of drugs. There's a time and a place, and that's what organised festivals are for.

Furthermore most of these people were inconsiderate for not moving out of the way. The park is for walking and cycling through, so you should show some damn manners and move out of the way. Paths aren't there to be blocked.

Tim Fry Have you actually never in your life been to a Freeparty? I go to as many of these as I can in any given year. So much fun and great people and music. Some wonderful locations. Who cares if it has a bureaucratic stamp of approval on it? Its people with speakers and music having a good time because we all know the majority of clubs and pubs ''full of bouncers and rules'' are a pile of wank. Being free in the countryside is amazing. I highly suggest you get off next time and have a dance and a laugh, you will surprise yourself. Everyone is welcome, there are no rules apart from be nice to each other. peace

I thought i was pretty chilled :D Was just encouraging you to take part and see for yourself :) I would love to happen across a party on my rides out in the countryside. they did clean up as far as im aware. I'm a keen cyclist and lover of the outdoors and I think the event looks like an awesome time. If people kept the path a bit clearer they'd be bothering nobody, so rave on I say!
Why do people in the UK pollute the fuck out of areas like this? I wouldn't even want to walk through people's garbage, it would ruin LSD for me, I'd probably spend my whole trip cleaning up (at least I'd feel better about myself for it, but realistically it's a losing battle)

Funny how the police can do NOTHING about it and admit its safer to just let it fizzle out. Good on the ravers i say they're not harming anyone, as long as they clean up after them selfs who the fuck is anyone else to say what they can and cannot do. Gortex wearing ramblers and dog walkers use it 364 days of the year maybe some other people can enjoy it for 1 day.
In my experience most people don't bother to clean up. That's the only annoying part of it.

***** Depends which ones, and who goes to 'em. Psy-trance and other trppy non-mainstream types will usually bring the hippy types, I've even seen oldies there and most help set up and clean up. The Drum 'n Bass and Dub Step brings more of the little bad-boy-wannabees. Who end up robbing or stabbing someone and running away before the words "clean up" are even mentioned.
I rode through there yesterday too, so much mess and so many messy people.

The ethos is leave no trace and most raves get cleaned up by the ravers. The only times it doesn't is when the police kick the ravers off the land and don't give them a chance to clean up and that ends up being the times when it makes the media thus an unfair image is created to the wider public.

The comments on this video are full of idiots making complete misconceptions based on assumptions and hearsay.
For those complaining about the mess - some of the crews stay after and help clean, if we left everywhere looking like complete shit after then it's a negative for everyone involved as we'd just be ruining a great location.
There's no aggression, no carry on, no chew, packed with like minded people from all age groups, everybody is welcome and it's all a good laugh. A typical night in town causes more of a problem than these raves ever have and likely ever will be.

Snooki2000 Of course, but generally it's full of positive people that are more than happy to help tidy after themselves.
No party is going to be entirely 100% clean after, regardless of the location. Maybe if free parties were legalised and regulated properly then the cleaning situation could be improved, but for now it's probably tidier than people pissing/vomiting everywhere after a night out in town.

Snooki2000 I'm not really sure what kind of damage you're expecting? Any litter on site is picked up and cleaned, there's no violence, no fights, for the most part it's out of the way of the public, it's only on for a day or so and then everyone packs up and leaves. Sounds like a pretty fair deal to me.
Jordan Ridehalgh Like I said: litter that is blown away or any you can't see that's kinda the point of not littering in the first place in these areas because its hard to control all of it, its not so bad non national park areas where these sorts of things are better suited.

One of the most frustrating things trying to manoeuvre around a crowd of people whilst going half a mile and hour constantly twitching the handle bars to avoid hitting people.

I love the way everyones carrying on like this is something new.
People have been holding illegal raves since the 60s, its somewhere for people that don't want to listen to mainstream dross go to dance to decent music.
I did the 90s, my parents generation did the 60s and it was all the same concept.
Lets be honest is a few kids having a party and cleaning up after themselves really that bad?, walk down any town or city centre in the land early on a saturday or sunday morning and you will see smashed glass, sick, urine, food, blood etc everywhere or failing that kids hanging around streets or driving cars and causing issue that way.
Contrary to what people think these people will not all of been sat injecting heroin and worse thats just what the papers say, doing a few pills and smoking a bit of weed does not make you a "druggie" it more likely makes you a more rounded person, infact more people should try it. In my experience most people attending such raves are chilled out and totally opposite to the morons that can be found in the pubs and clubs of the cities looking for a fight.
Not saying I totally approve of it and it is annoying when I've heard music from local raves but it doesn't bother me that badly.

Had a feeling this was gonna go a little viral when I watched it this morning. I'd like to say about the litter that where ever people go, they make mess, the difference is at raves people stay behind to clean up. Often the music is turned off throughout the night for 10 minute clean ups, I've never seen floors tidied so fast! I've even heard of times where police have made people leave site before the clean up can be completed and so people have gone back the next day to finish the job. And as for the people that attend being "druggies" with "no jobs". The ratio is no different to that of a crowd in your local pub. The majority of people I know who attend these event's are educated, employed or at university. And those that aren't generally are still of a more positive mind than your local pub lout.

The rave scene is very open minded and Liberal on most matters, and they tend to vote for left leaning parties as, being on average, more educated, understand left leaning policies lead to a better society. "ravers" don't spend their whole time raving.
