@@mhedstrom oh ok, i guess it depends on birthday but yeah i was in 4th and 10. but also i recall this was the first year i really got into baseball so it really was amazing. i was even able to get WJR760 on my walkman up at summer camp on lake charlevoix somehow, staticy but got ernie harwell and paul carey in somehow sitll for those couple weeks lol
Why haven't the current Detroit Tigers ownership, taken this great Tiger fight song, and modernized it a bit, make it generic for any team, season, or year, and play it as their FIGHT SONG! They are still playing and living off the 1968 Tigers, GO GET'EM TIGERS . But because this was for 1984, and the fans of TIGER STADIUM, this special song will always hold a place in my heart! BLESS YOU BOYS!
1st 40 games 35-5 won the AL East wire to wire sweep the ALCS against the kansas city royals and won the world series in 5 games against the san diego padres
You could always count on Tom Brookins to hit a grounder right to the shortstop. The ball would already be thrown to first base before he was half way there.
@@Johnadams20760 Oh Lord. Relax. I’m a hater because I’m stating a fact? Brookins was a good third basemen. He sucked as a hitter. Absolutely sucked. A bum. Look where he was in the lineup. Look at his stats.

I will admit, there was nothing like watching a Tigers game at Tiger Stadium...
Totally. There’s something about an old-school ballpark.
My first season watching baseball ... still the best season ever.
About same here ..... 1st year as a Tiger Fans... now begining my 40th !!
Is it pathetically sad that I still remember all the lyrics to this? I was 11 when it came out...Thanks for the memories for sure!
Same here
Great memories

@@Johnadams20760 6th

Last undefeated team in 2024🐅
Out of all the Pistons and Red Wings championships 1984 was the best
Wait until the Lions win the Super Bowl.
@Springbok314 OK but Dan Gamble ruined that chance
Miss the glory days
This takes me back to being 14 again. That’s was a great summer!
Still remember the starting line up for this team !! Great season started 35-5 and never looked back !! 84 Tigers , 97 Wolverines great times !!!

Sparky is still engrained in Tiger's memorabilia to this day, and the '84 season is clearly a beloved one. This makes perfect sense
Thing song and promo was created by wdiv ch.4. They have the rights to it, not tigers organization.
The 5th grade memories this brings back are palpable.
Lol 6th grade for me.
Produced by Curtis Gadson, host of WDIV's "Saturday Night Music Machine".
Bless You Boy George Anderson (1:29)
My dad said when the tigers won the series in 84 it was the pinnacle of his life 😂
Just taught my grand girl this we are e generations born in the D
Great footage!
Herbie Redmond
The only thing I remembered about this commercial was that Boy George was in it. Had to type in, 'bless you boys this is the year'. 5/20/2021
one white sox fan watched this
Also a Royals and Pardes fan
And a guardings/Indians
Boy George in this really why
They say his name in it

This is the worst song ever.
Bless you as in GOD BLESS YOU!!

We say this when the Lions win Baseball games
Huh?
This maybe the year we have to rewrite it for the lions
A great year for the Tigers, song is so cheesy smh
35-5 104-58, wire to wire. gibson, parish, chet lemon, travvel, sweet lou, sparky, hojo, marty, tommy brookens, the list goes on!

@@Johnadams20760 Nope. He sucked as a batter. 12th on the team in HRs, 11th in RBIs. Why? Because he was so busy grounding out to either 3rd or SS.
