- IN THIS RESTORATION EPISODE WE PUT THE CROWN BACK ON THIS TIRED AND DEFEATED HPI WHEELY KING. IT GETS TOTALLY DISASSEMBLED. WE WASH EVERYTHING. REMOVE OLD AND TIRED ELECTRICS. BUILD IT BACK WITH NEW UPDATED ARMOR. A FASTER MOTOR. NEW OIL IN SHOCKS AND BEARINGS. INSTALL NEW ELECTRICS AND THEN DRIVE IT. EVEN TOP SPEED IT. I still want a bigger solid axle monster truck then the mini-z monster clone I'm still in the process of slowly putting together.
I'll probably mod it with the wltoys k989 i got sitting.
Just need a servo board which there is one from pn racing that i could make use of for it. Some gears, body & it should be ready too go using some of the k989 electrics for a cheap 2.4 ghz conversion.
The wheely king were really popular too convert into rc crawlers as you mentioned in the video.
Too the point where HPI actually released the " crawler king " a few years later past the 2nd gen version. Think said crawler king is still available btw if you need a spur gear, not 100% sure its identical teeth too the wheely king but doesnt hurt too check it out.
I had my eyes on the CEN Racing solid axle monster trucks 2 - 3 years ago, they seem too be a solid choice as well if you can't find one of these & don't want too pay for something like a Losi LMT or the Axial Monster Truck.

@Luke’s Vintage RC I use an Isonic P4820. One of the best hundred dollars I've spent in the hobby. Its amazing how well it cleans.

Yo cool vid. I got the same motor and esc . But i have never driven 3 s. Only on 2 s. Will the gearbox make it on 3 s .? And that motor?
Thank you, nope, it wasn’t designed for 11.1 volts. Buy traxxas or arrma for that. Old rc and materials. Replace parts are none lol.
