    Collection of Arduino Projects: howtomechatron...
    In this tutorial we will learn what RFID is, how it works and how to make an Arduino based RFID door lock. RFID stands for Radio Frequency IDentification and it’s a non-contact technology that’s broadly used in many industries for tasks such as personnel tracking, access control, supply chain management, books tracking in libraries, tollgate systems and so on.

    God. Seeing someone explain what RFID is is amazing. Like, not so many people know what it is, and being a door lock server installer for Assa Abloy it hurts when people go, “oh, can I put that near my phone? It will still work right?” And I just want to look at them and go, “no, this can’t go near any electronics at all. If it does, the world ends.”

    Error in the descriptin of RFID tag memory at minute 4:02 ....it says that the tag memory contains 16 sectors of 4 blocks each, so far so good, but then that each block stores TWO bytes of data when he obviously highlight two sub-blocks of 8 bytes each, so the the right interpretation is that each block contains 2x8=16 bytes ....so total amount of memory is 16x4x16bytes=1024bytes=1KB

    Where do we have to place the proximity sensor, and do we have to keep it in contact with door when we close it?
    How did you hide all the wires you used? And did you place the arduino nano on the breadboard?
    Please do reply, your reply means a lot to me!

    • @HowToMechatronics
      @HowToMechatronics  Před 5 lety

      The proximity sensor is placed so that can detect when the door is closed. It doesn't have to be the particular model of proximity sensor, you could also use an HC-SR04 ultrasonic sensor for that purpose. All the wires are just wrapped with an insulating tape. And if you have the proper jump wires you don't have to use a breadboard, I didn't used.
      Have fun building your project!

    Hello, great video just a quick question about trying to make a relay stay on as long as the RFID card is present. So I want to make it so that I don't need to set a specific time duration the relay is on for. Is this possible with the RFID? just each time I leave the card next to the reader, it only reads it once, but I am unsure on if this is because of the code or hardware.

      you dont need to use a robotic arm to "identify" the books....if your RFID transponder (host side) antenna is big enough you can scan RFID within 8-15 m and that in batches of 300-400 RFID tags per batch, if you have more then sequentially without the need to be near nor point to the objects/tages...there are industrial handheld terminals or tablets which such integrated RFID large antenna...

      SteamFox ,, from my understanding , there's no need for RFID security, because the mifare itself has a pre - implemented security system inside..
      The cheapest mifare classic type has a crypto encryption inside, ..
      So unless you know keyA or keyB inside it .. you'll never get the access to modify each bit/byte of the data..

    Is there any way (programming) to operate the lock as a simple lock, so disabling the "auto-lock" feature? I mean 1 card read operation to open the lock and one card read operation to close it. Because at home environment it would be a much more convenient way of operation. When I'm home I unlock the locks and when I leave I close them. And is there a way to control more lock from one "control box"? For example a house with 4 door. I would like to read my tag and unlock all the doors. Thanks!
