Like your clear, no-words-wasted approach. Really helpful.
I put the links to the spec sheets for both mics. These links get deleted. Therefore, check the spec sheets yourself (you can look up the frequency response charts, with a search.) You'll clearly see a bump on the bass section, of the frequency response chart for the BA 85a. You will not see that bump on the XM8500 (for this mike, the bass reaponse is effectivley flat until rolls off.)
Very useful video, though I feel like I'm listening to completely different audio than you. You say BA85A is more condenser-like and crisp, while I hear the exact opposite on my studio monitors. The XM8500 sounds nice and clear while the BA85A sounds almost like through a telephone, lo-fi you might call it. It has that weird grainy quality to the sound which makes it sound really cheap imo. It's also exactly what I heard in other demos of this mic.
I find them both good value for money. Which one is best depends on the voice of who's using them.
The BA85A seems to have less of an issue with plosives
I wonder what a 50/50 mix would sound like.
THE BEHRINGER BATTLE ROYALE IS BACK!
No, the BA 85A has more bass. The XM8500 has a bit more mids. The XM8500 makes you sound somewhat more clear.
I like your video on this BA 85a. You don't sing, though. That is a lot of what this mic would be used for. I did a singing test witht his mic. For anyone who is considering buying the BA 85a, and wants to hear what a male voice, singing, here's a test video. Thanks, Tech Racoon. I like your videos.
