Good instructions. Back in Sri Lanka almost every young boy and some girls learn how to climb a coconut tree. If you’re a beginner, chose a thinner and mostly straight tree. Any bend in the trunk will increase difficulty for beginners and make it quite dangerous specially if it rained recently as water drain from the back where your top hand will attempt the grip. You will lose the grip of your top hand and then it’s a dangerous drop. When you twist the coconuts, don’t position yourself directly under it. When you are under so much strain, you make mistakes and a hit in the head by the coconut you just twisted may cause you to fall down. If you do not go barefoot often, your feet will be too smooth and not have much grip. Slightly wet your feet if possible and it will help with the grip. The way you grip the trunk shown here is the expert method of holding the trunk and not for beginners. You can put your arms around the trunk and interlink your fingers and use the forearms to grip while using biceps to assist lifting while keeping your chest close to the trunk. This will make sure your arms won’t slip.

This is a great way to easily climb a palm tree, although I do not suggest going out and climbing trees. Leave it to the professionals. This man should have used a second rope to help him ascend with a climbing saddle for safety. Not to mention ppe. Yeah you can do it, but should you. Be safe. Be smart. Have fun

I dont know who taught you how to climb but its wrong. You're suppose to twist the rope in to a figure eight shape before putting both feet in, it gives it extra grip on the tree and it stops the rope from falling of your feet when you climb, when you get tired you never rest in a sitting position your weight can lock your knees and make it hard to climb again, always rest standing up straight. It will be hard at first but that's the safe way to do it, and it won't take long till you get it right

But mentioning a ladder and chopping steps on the trunk out in the forests or fields somewhere. Go check your brain!
