- Hey everyone, here sharing my thoughts and opinion about the new 26mm f/2.8 Nikon Z lens. I will check it out as soon as it's available for renting and make a review and see for myself if it's worth buying but for now just my thoughts.
Thanks for watching and subscribing to my channel!
This isn’t a cheaply made lens. It has 3 aspherical elements and is tack sharp wide open. A lot of engineering went into this lens and that’s reflected in the price.
I agree it's on the expensive side for what it is, but I like that it's a smaller footprint than the 28mm. When I first bought the 28mm I was hoping it was smaller, so the 26mm is the perfect size for me. It can just replace the mount cap on my Z7II, and I know that plastic lens mounts are OK but I've had ones that cracked before so having the peace of mind that this lens' mount is made of metal gives me more reassurance.
We can't say it's over-priced until we know more about the image quality. Ricci's first review is encouraging.
I have this 26mm 2.8 and I will tell the sharpness is fantastic and over price is so subjective and petty, photography isn’t for the cheap individual it’s for the creative mind and creative eye bang bang get the lens and sell the 28mm 2.8 lens that’s what’s up
I already have the 28 so I’m skipping the 26, but I can see how it’s a tempting lens. I’d consider a trade in if it went on sale…
I have to see what the reviews say and if the image quality is really good or better than the 28...
Just ordered the 28 2.8 , can use the extra 200 plus dollars for something else .
$300 is too low, the plastic mount 28 is right around that price (still). Better image quality, smaller, metal mount - worth it IMO. $500? Ya I’d say $420 to $450 would be more fair for what it is. Been watching for a sale but it’s holding steady at full price. But no plastic mounts for me.
True! It’s close to the $500 mark right now
I think I am gonna buy one.
Metal mount alone makes it worth more to me.
Yes, it's overpriced, but it's smaller and, according to Ricci, sharper than the 28. I'm going to get it when it goes down in price, which will be probably an in a year or so after release. I have the 40F2 and I love using it.
Yes I feel like that, I’ll probably end up buying one once the price comes down a little bit
Only if the picture quality was extremely fantastic
