I have created a DIY electronic stethoscope using the chest piece and connecting it to condenser mic over the tube. While I am able to hear all outside sound , I am not able to hear any body sound at all (heart/lungs) . The same chest piece when connected to tube of stethoscope works well . I am using audacity software for recording. I would appreciate any suggestions for resolving this . Thanks
This is really cool! I think I'll have to try this. I laughed out loud when you casually mentioned recording sounds through a stethoscope hooked up to a hose spigot in your Sound of Hyper Light Drifter pt 2 video, and wondered how exactly that would look. Thanks for showing us!
Damn, finally got around to trying this and it didn't work out well. I basically can only get scratching noises. Even a heartbeat is really faint or not perceptible at all. Wondering if I did something wrong, but I bought the exact same parts and don't really see how I could have screwed it up. I used a Behringer C-2 for the mic, but everything else is the exact same.

So it's not recorded, but a live amplified sound that you can play over stereo or any other kind of sound speaker system. Hope you read this and can answer my question :)
I recorded an automotive stethoscope via my cell phone in the past but I didn't use any tape and it was quite the pain to execute. I'm going to put something together today with a very large microphone. How would I send you a picture of it when I'm done?

What other option comes to mind besides the e70? I ordered that model and received the e60. That company no longer carries the e70. Now I can't find the e70 for less than $199.00 - Thanks in advance

They stopped making the CAD e70 that I recommend in this video, so I recommend getting the Audio Technica AT2021 instead!

I know this is old but you could have just used a lavaliere mic in the end of the tube.

Yes! It will sound very muffled, but it will capture voice when it's up close to your mouth!

Oh crazy! Any small diaphragm condenser works. If you want a good cheap one, look up 12 gauge mics. www.12gaugemicrophones.com/

Does it need to be a condenser?
It'll certainly help. Dynamic microphones aren't nearly as sensitive so they may not pick everything up.
