How to Paint a Boat Hull with Faux Strakes or Coves

Before we started painting the hull I was trying to look up the best way to paint a hull with these faux coves. It is fiberglass hull but like many others it has the fake lapstrake pattern that simulates wood planking. This isn't the only solution to how to paint hull like this with a roller but it definitely worked well for us even though it was still a bit of a pain. Let me know in the comments if you have better terminology for what we are talking about here or if you have any other good solutions. Paint we are using here is Alexseal bit.ly/AlexSeal

Did you attempt to hit them with a small foam brush first, and then roll it? I'm curious if it would have given better coverage, or be easier, despite needing to constantly switch between brush and roller.
