- Flying the Buffalo Airways DC3 C-GWIR on the daily 'sked' from Yellowknife NWT Canada to Hay River.
45minutes
Joe lets me sit in the pilot seat while he reads the paper in the jump seat.
Wonderful flight, airline, people and territory.
Sad to see C-GWIR crashed on 19th August 2013.
DC 3 the most fantastic airplane that I´ve flown.I flew like copilot 7000 hours in Villavicencio Colombia,I wanted to be captain, but I did not have suport in the company .Now I´m flying Piper PA 34 like captain, but I miss Dc 3.I´ts the best airplane ,I had few emergencies and these were not by failiures of DC3.I got two videos by youtube, look for DC 3 landing colombia or captai hernando murcia.God bless you
I just absolutely love "Ice Pilots!" Discovered it this autumn, marathoned through all five seasons, overjoyed there's gonna be a season six. Would love to fly on that sked! Can't think of a better Canadian vacation itinerary.
I moved up in October 2003....
The land and people are incredible.....make sure you get over to the Nahanni.
God bless Joe and his Ice Pilots, hope they're still flying.
C-GWIR
"The Normandie Express"....she flew out on June 5th-6th 1944
Simply Excellent, thanks for sharing!
Awesome plane, doesnt look like its been changed much over the years.
Nice 732 on the ramp. Thanks for the video.
I keep my fingers crossed that I can go there in 2015 with the Three still flying this run.
+PeterNGloor Now, after my visit, I know Buffalo still operates this flight. A great experience. I had to go both ways, as only one flight would just not be enough....
tosi hienoja filmerä.kiitos
Buffalo Joe is a legend.
INCREDIBLE PLAIN
THANKS YOU
Flown whit a dc3 over rotterdam on a tour when y was still a kid,(Air atlantique), dont know the registration, but Joe bougt this dc3 later to for as far as y know (being green and white to) Later being in the army y ones had te opportunity to sit in the captains seat of a dc3 (PH-DDA) And even hold the plaine and fly it, Most memorable day in my life! Sadly this dc3 crashed a few years later due to engine failure, and not being able to feather the prop on the failed engine, this was the PH DDA. the pilot who let me sit in his place was killed in the crash sadly, Plane was a totall los, and all the passengers died for as far as y know... Sad day in the existance of the dutch dakota assosaition..
The test of time. Been in the air for 70 years maybe.
over 70 yrs
Yeah do you have to know Joe to get up front or just pay them a fee? Why did the camera keep pointing to your face-was it on your hand? Nice long look at Buffalo
The DC-3 is a dream but the first half of your video is a nightmare. Ever tried video editing?
Yeah, they have control too, kick the cameraman square in the ass and out the plane.
Looks like you got there before everybody else! :D Great vid though
Well, I enjoyed your video. Kind of snickered a wee bit at the extreme close-up of the nose at 14:40 though....
I maintained a DC3 in Alaska for 13 years, the radial engines are not reliable enough anymore, to run a regular schedule with passengers, if they had a turbine engine converted DC3 they could make it work.
I recall when you sold the water bombers to Turkey, and when you went to England to get Electras.
No offense, but where the hell are all the employees? Now I know why the owner is always pissed off.
i live in hay river
Hey man, you forgot to talk.
Como eu faço para comprar uma camisa do BUFALO .

+PeterNGloor thank
Constantly "looking around" with a camera totally ruins it. Not worth watching.
If they are this able maintaining 70 years old flying machines, surely they could get a slightly newer ones. Like 30 or 40 years old.
They have the Electra, slightly more modern?
erase this whole video and start over; why do I want to look up your shirt and see you
It's a thing in Canada
