I thought this guy believed in a thing called love?
He believed it, but only as a feeling
Vincent Price Yeah, thats before he got his heart broken.
Vincent Price Only when he's on drugs.
Vincent Price but love is only a feeling

The second guitar solo is a masterpiece
It’s epic, and when the melody comes back in 👌🏻 hits the spot
@@stuatagovailoa7536 me and my friend were just saying the same thing. The solo-chorus-solo is fucking awesome and different
@stuatagovailoa7536 I kept rewinding to the harmony part, it's so powerful.
They are such good musicians.
Deserves way more views. The Darkness are so underrated. Great band with some great songs
12 million views. Yes what an obscure gem
@@seeminglytransparent hot damn 12 million.
still, criminally under-promoted in the US. got a song catalogue loaded with monster hits but as people can't take the humor the boys infuse into their shows, critics and listeners took pleasure in panning them. I suppose they preferred the band to be cutting themselves, gettin into bar brawls, taking themselves too seriously. Nope. That's not the way they do things. No matter. Their fans around the world love them just as they are;
a top tier guitar band spanning the gamut from pop to no-holds-barred heavy metal.
Thin Lizzy-style ''twin guitars'',mandolins, tapping solo, played on top of a mountain and lighting bolts shooting out of guitars,I feaking love this!
***** Yes.
***** Remember me of Black Rose.
+greekfreak1980 they are like perfect parody of glam-rock
+greekfreak1980 well said sir Emerald
The best just saw them live at paramount in Huntington Justin rules!!!
Happy Halloween
This band is so underrated with such a strong lead singer/talented guitarist not to mention he is a great person too with a kind soul.
Dont forget about great clickbaits 😂
underrated my arse
If they came out in the 80's these guys would be worshipped like a literal gods
I lived in the 80s, yeah, they came out 20 years too late.
FUCKIN-A
Lol no
I was literally thinking the same thing. Justin Hawkins would have been a superstar if they came out in the 80s.
70's 😀
HANDS DOWN. The best thing to come out of the 2000s. They were so technical, brilliant and they all did it with a fat huge smile on their faces.
I will always love this band even if it’s only for them being truly themselves.
Justin is only 28.
I still love them , bloody amazing
@@craybil 48?
I saw them in London last Saturday. Absolutely amazing and really, really cool and nice guys!

"The Darkness" is one of the few musical bands from the 2000's that give me hope for classic rock. Sure there are plenty of good underground bands, but these guys just FEEL that whole 70s and 80s arena rock vibe
can you recommend some other bands like them too? I'm on a trip right now. I've picked up H.E.A.T and Steel Panther (musically by far the most superior though I don't care for their lyrical theme)
And I love it. Need more like them. I love Greta though too
You should definetly check "A Work of Art" its a swedish AOR, their record "In Progress" is a true gem.
Anyone looking for a great (also British) glam rock band should look at The Struts. Also very Queen-esque sound and funny enough, the singer Luke Spiller was greatly influenced by The Darkness
@@DahakaMatthew check out V Sparks
They are probably the most underrated glam metal bands of 21st century.
somonysam is this metal?
Because i love this kind of metal
It's a kind of new-classic Rock. Self described as being "a fresh take on rock in the ilk of Queen and Sparks"
somonysam this is metal?
ama ani dont think so, it's probably in the hard rock genre
Not a rough competeition for that, hey?
Just constant guitar harmonies, vocal harmonies, just so much harmony. The Darkness never fails to just please my eardrums.
It's 2024, and this still hits so hard!
Here for the first time.
I'm an elderly virgin.
Just heard it in the pub I work at and was instantly taken back. Still a banger for sure.
have you watched the movie XD
Just seen them live in Melbourne Australia, this was the best song of the night. Absolute banger.
So F***ing true...
These guys simply made sure that the 2000s era would have a taste of the 70s or 80s whatever. Last of our heroes. 🤙🏻
Last of their kind 😉
I can’t be the only one that finds this song and the guitar solo’s so therapeutic and so underrated!! 2022 and I’m still listening to this! 🙌🏼❤️
When I hear the guitar solo during the live gig I know I've got it all.
You are not. Still listening. But it hurts. Makes me think of my girlfriend at the time this album was released. *tears

Imagine having heard this song thousands of times in the last 20 odd years… and never having seen the music video until TODAY. Fucking epic. I don’t think any other band can get away with going for something this “cheesy” and it coming off monumental and beautiful. Gave me goosebumps!
Well, you've got me beat, I'd never heard it OR seen the vid until about 4 months ago. Where have I been??!! I think Darkness can get away with this song where other bands can't is they always deliver the goods with a ton of heart and soul! This song is simply gorgeous, rockin' and powerful. I think "Love on the Rocks with No Ice" and "Dinner Lady Arms" (etc!) are masterpieces as well. Great band, Justin and the boys are badasses!
Filmed on location at The Blue Mountains and Jenolan Caves, west of Sydney Australia 🤘🇦🇺🤘
By the way, I didn't 'like' your comment because it was on 69 and I didn't want to ruin it 😁
Epic Song!! Will stand the test of time in terms of anthems
Still one of my top favourite songs since i was a kid (mustve been around 10 when it came out), just love the lyrics ♡ saw them at ...Godiva? festival a few years ago, beautiful performance
It's May 2021, and this song is still amazing. Especially on repeat.

It’s August now, but ever since I was reminded of The Darkness when I passed by Blytheburgh church on the way to Latitude Festival, I’m also reminded that in 2003, the newly divorced me was having the time of my life, and this song sums up that time of freedom completely :-D
For all the single Mums out there who leave abusive men, this totally, totally rocks x

Man, I was in high school when this tune came out and my goth metal head ass was soooo hyped every time I saw this video on mtv and my granny would say “turn it up!” And she had no clue of the lyrics yet she would vibe to it. Gosh I loved her.
Long live The Darkness!
The sound of music. REAL music, and GREAT music.

Literally one of the best songs ever made.
These guys have quirky spoof brilliance but they also have major chops as musicians and the combination is magic and why they have lasted. This song still gives me goosebumps.

every rock and roll cliché in the book, but that was the idea!..That first album was full of quality.
shame they couldnt repeat it.but you set the bar high, its hard to keep that pace up.
Justin Hawkins is a great front man,who is no mug with a guitar.
Such 1980s vibes and I'm living for it. The bigger the hair the closer to heaven.
if they had come on the scene in 1985, they would have been gods among men
true
they are better than all of the half assed popular artists today.
They are gods among men
exactly
Kinda Def Leppardish mixed with 70's glam rock
Hands down one of the greatest rock bands in existence
I come back for the riffs. the funny ass shake on the mountain is just extra. the solo scenes are rockin out too. Love these guy's
The journey to find this song is finally over. With no name or artist to go by only a rough year, and 6 months of searching and we end up hear. FINALLY!!!!!!!
Google the lyrics in future :)
Didn't have that info either. All i had was "its a band standing on a mountain from the early 00'ies" haha
hahaha same here bro been trying to find the name of this band and i did try today for the first time started with british metal band long hair looks gay and google gave me wikipedias about 5 or 6 related links and found them under glam metal and boy they all look the same lol rock on!

Darkness is a sort of band, you play in the background not really paying attention while doing something else, only to find later, you learned all their songs and you sing them in your head all day. Great band!
If Slash did these guitar solos, people would say they're the best ever.
Ahhhhh! The Blue Mountains of New South Wales! These guys made them look so much more majestic! AC/DC & Queen all rolled into one. Awesome video!
Yes, found a fellow aussie in here! I knew it this video was filmed in Australia, NSW The Blue Mountains straight away. Isn't funny that even if an aussie couldn't recognize The Blue Mountains, just the glow of the sunlight, well it has that unique Australia blooming sunshie!
Considering that Rufus Taylor (drums) is the son of Roger (Queen).
THe end solo is one of my faves, besides metallicas fade to black and orion. You can feel the emotion through it.
The solo at the end....that's all your soul need
Oh, the first flush of youth was upon you when our eyes first met
And I knew that to you and into your life I had to get
Oh, I felt light-headed at the touch of this stranger's hand
An assault my defenses systematically failed to withstand
'Cause you came at a time
When the pursuit of one true love in which to fall
Was the be all and end all
Love is only a feeling (drifting away)
When I'm in your arms, I start believing (it's here to stay)
But love is only a feeling
Anyway
Oh, the state of elation that this unison of hearts achieved
I had seen, I had touched, I had tasted, and I truly believed
That the light of my life would tear a hole right though each cloud
That scudded by
Just to beam on you and I
Love is only a feeling (drifting away)
When I'm in your arms, I start believing (it's here to stay)
But love is only a feeling
Anyway
Anyway
Love is only a feeling (drifting away)
And we gotta stop ourselves believing (it's here to stay)
'Cause love is only a feeling
Anyway
I cant help but hope that The darkness produces another album with this kind of material on it.
Rumour has it, The Darkness left a crystal guitar eternally spinning on top of that rocky promontory; as a kind of Excalibur for whoever may find it and play this righteously strident riff, in order to claim the charmed axe.
Are ye sure it wasn't a glass guitar containing a muse named Singring?
The Guardians of the Protectorate of Rock reckon a 'never heard Jimmy Page riff' is secreted in a vault at Bron yr Aur, Wales
This. This is my favourite comment!
those solos give me the chills, amazing musicians!
"Love is merely a madness" - Shakespeare
"Love is only a feeling" - Hawkins
🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰
justin's solo at the end of the song is just a work of art and how both guitars harmonize the solo at the end is just the icing on the cake. it's perfection.
I could hear this song everyday
And never get bored.
It's amazing ,so incredible band.

There's something about the guitar solos really does it for me
Right
They dont make music video like this anymore... so beautiful...
I’m A 63 year old hard rock or and I gave up looking for new good music after grunge hit. I found this band today and I am oh so glad I did. Nobody here in the states wants to rock anymore so you gotta look outside of the USA. Thank you to The Darkness. Greetings from Henderson Kentucky
Check out king gizzard my friend.
I like how every member of the band looks like they're from a different band lol
The vocalist and the Guitarist looks like from an 80s Metal band while the other 2 looks like from an emo rock band
I was in a band 10 years ago and we all looked like we were from different bands too ! Gotta love being human lol !!
Singer and other guitarist are brothers
YES! Thank you
Hahahahaha
That ending solo makes me want to cry!
Hard to believe this song is 20 YEARS OLD!!!
20 likes for twenty years
Shut your mouth. I can remember jamming this like it was yesterday 🤣
And still is better than most crap put out today
😱
Well, it could well be 40 years old… it sounded vintage, a bit like early ‘80s, already when it came out. 😅
Just saw these guys tonight. Best show I’ve ever been to, by orders of magnitude.
His voice gives me goosebumps ✨
This song evokes feelings of both falling in and out of love. I guess that's why its the Darkness.
Is this video real? I mean they stood near the rock? Or is it photoshop greenbox?
it's real, there's a making of video.
Lorenshyne i think only part 0:07-0:10 real
yeah its real and I bout shit my pants watching "making of"
I need those jeans man
I would say that this band is carrying the torch of RockNRoll brightness, through dark musical times. Very cool.
THESE DUDES DON'T GET HALF THE CREDIT THEY DESERVED SINCE THEIR DEBUT AND UP TIL NOW. While, in my opinion, Rock and Roll has been watered down and/or phased out, these dudes STAYED TRUE TO THE SPIRIT OF ROCK AND ROLL and make some DAMN GOOD MUSIC. This song might be the best song they ever did and Permission To Land is an ICONIC ALBUM to be listed among all the greats.
I agree. If this song was released in the 80s it would have been as popular as Bon Jovi songs.
Anyone in 2019??

Their hit was "I believe in a thing called love", but this one is absolutely lovely. One of my all time favourites. This bunch were overlooked.
Holysh*t I only just discovered this song and- I grew up in the Blue Mountains literally around the corner from where this was filmed- I Thought it looked familiar! Haven’t even gotten through the entire song yet, I was so excited to see my old home, I just had to say something🤣
Such a great song, impeccable guitars and vocals, both solos are technically brilliant, and even the outro is great. Jesus do I miss those days, and unlike the 80s classics I vividly remember this coming out (I'm only 32), good times!
Before getting in a relationship: I believe in a thing called love
After getting dumped: Love is only a feeling
Love his voice. Love their style. A very welcome throwback style.
20 year old me was so psyched when I found out they were filming this in the Blue Mountains, NSW Australia. Now 40 year old me gets to relive that happy nostalgia every time I hear this epic track

I HATED The Darkness when they appeared. I was done with rock as a jaded GnR-type rock-loving twentysomething. Now, at 45, more mature, I adore it. Much because of Justin and the guys' attitude, and I've realised they have kept the rock alive all these years. Justin Hawkins rides again had a lot to do with it also - so much respect for him and the guys!

That's one of the best guitar solos of this century... so far.
That's where I grew up, I know all those landmarks featured in the song, Kings Tableland, Hanging Rock in Blackheath, Devil's Playground in Jenolan Caves.
There was a rock band/open mic/blues night or something on every night in that area in the late 80s, early 90s. Alot of musicians from that area.
This song just nails the feeling I have growing up there and thinking back to that place and the people I knew there at the time.
Thanks Darkness.

I've known about this band for almost six years and listened to them alot. imagine my surprise when someone told me the other that they're are a modern band formed in the 21st century and not in the 70's or 80's....
Tommy S not trying to be a dick or anything, but how the hell didn't you know that?
Gillis Clarke i don't even know, I even saw them live at a festival once. guess their sound is just very authentic. It's not like overproduced and heavily compressed. It sounds like music made for vinyl. Their music always used to be played at a local radiostation which only play rockclassics so i think that something to do with it aswell.
They must have found the fountain of youth, if you believed they were formed in the 70´s/80´s :P
Camilla Elise Andresen Well i was in the far back when they played so i've never really seen them before now.
I know Justin and his sister used to live on Walton Road Lowestoft then moved with the band to colton long road and still to this date!!!
