My abusive step mom tried to adopt an infant baby girl. When she came into my life at 5 years old I was already too old for her to brain wash and I had my bio mom as an influence in my life. At 19 years old after no contact for many years she came to me to let me know she was trying to adopt an infant baby girl. I immediately thought to myself that all she wanted was a doll and if that baby girl doesn’t turn out how she wants I can’t let another child be abused in the way she abused me. My stepmom tried to repair our relationship and get me to show up to their adoption meetings to make it look like we were a big happy family. Surprise, surprise we had another falling out before I ever went to one of those meetings. Couple weeks later I get a request for an “adult child reference” from the adoption agency. I ripped her to shreds in that reference and thank god that I did not ever show up to those meetings. She did not get the chance to adopt and they were rejected. Seeing this video makes me feel like I saved a child’s life.

Nobody checked on them, but they wrote reports saying they did. When I think of what a system working correctly looks like, I think about the social worker who almost got blown up trying to save Susan Powell’s boys from their HORRIBLE dad. My brother told the truth -- he was playing competitive tackle football (we live in Texas). The principal called our parents and then the football league and my brother's coach to verify this. He also called our family's pastor. Our parents were taken aback, but not upset -- they appreciated his teacher alerting the school of the issue. I mean, people who work in this field have to make decisions that literally can make the difference between life and death (of INNOCENT & DEFENSELESS!) children. If they cannot rely on the "outside world" - so CPS - to come and save them, then who can they rely on?
And don't get me wrong please.. I know and understand that so many CPS caseworkers are absolutely overworked and underpaid at the same time and that even if they do their very best, sometimes they sadly still can't prevent the death of a child because of a variety of other reasons.. In last week's video I commented explaining that as a teacher I'm obligated to report any changes - no lunch, bruises, if a child appears dirty and I was torn to shreds for 'reporting every little thing' and how it can ruin good families and have children taken away. I was called 'pathetic', 'over the top' and accused of 'projecting my childhood trauma onto children', also referred to as 'that cheeko teacher girl'... But cases like this, just prove WHY it's so important to 'report every little thing'
P.s I don't report to CPS, I HAVE to report to the school if I see anything. I'd be failing my obligation as a safeguard, and a professional if I didn't. I'd rather look stupid than have the death of a child on my hands.

I tried reaching out to counselors and teachers at my high school regarding the neglect and abuse I endured at home. No one said anything. No one advocated for my safety and well being. No one seemed to care until my mother attacked and beat the crap out of me (yet again) in the middle of my friend's house a half block away and the police were finally notified... By then, I was 15.
My first two foster placements were mentally abusive.
I lucked out with my 3rd placement and was able to age out. The wanted to adopt me but I didn't let them. Had trust issues, ya know? I did land my first job with their love & help. I got my GED and a license too. I'll always love them for their support 😊
So honestly, I applaud you. You have no way of knowing what a child MIGHT be going through, whether at home or actively in the system. A lot won't verbally tell... You have to look for the signs.

When it comes to Samantha I'm thinking she was just being lazy because trying to find a foster home that will take 2 children under 5, that are siblings, with behavioral issues, and 1 of them nonverbal is virtually impossible. It's easier for her to pretend like these things are not a big deal or turn a blind eye or somehow justify it to herself or outright play stupid than it is for her to actually have to put in the effort to do her job correctly and find a suitable foster home without splitting these siblings up and then work with Tessa on reunification. They all speak during the trial about how much they love Millie and loved Laila but, where were they? Nowhere, absolutely nowhere when Tessa needed them most. If the family loved Tessa and the girls as much as they say. They'd have helped her at her biggest time of need and not allow the children to enter foster care. People are getting more evil. CPS is pretty much useless. They just don't care. Everyday children "go missing" at the hands of their parents/step parents. It's very sad. I don't even believe that many of these parents who want to have children start out with good intentions. They want someone to use as a punching bag to take out their frustrations. Everyone failed Layla & Millie. Why did the physicians never call the police in? The saddest photo is Layla sitting there with the cast on her leg with a big smile on her face😢. Christopher Gregor did the same to Corey. He beat him do bad, he lacerated the heart & liver. These people are psychopaths! Even if Tessa did do this why wouldn't Jennifer then take her to the hospital. OMG what an obvious lie! Samantha should have gone to jail along with Joseph & Jennifer. Poor Millie. It's heartbreaking listening to her💔 . RIP Sweet Layla🕊🤍

The only time Jennifer took her was when she broke her leg and she had a perfectly “understandable” excuse……she’s in gymnastics! Regardless, she was told to take Layla to Children’s Hospital of Atlanta, she agreed and told them she was going straight there, but obviously didn’t. They had no reason to be suspicious. Samantha White on the other hand was adamantly covering her ears to drown out all the suspicion Jennifer gave her!! 😡😡😡

We were literally like in the same college "homeroom" it basically kept a set of new college students together for freshman and sophomore years. Also took other basic courses with her and even worked on group projects with her! She was very "normal" and nice. I was completely mind blown when I saw this story on the news!!

As a fellow foster child grown up this case infuriates me!
I had a bad & traumatic time with my childhood & foster care. I felt my foster carers only did it for the money.
So many foster carers aren’t fit for the job and do opposite of what the job is it’s so evil she should have never got approved, yes she was in foster care due to not her fault but she should know better than the way she treated that girl.
I wouldn’t ever treat a child in my care like crap if I was a foster carer because I know what being in foster care is like, the child needs protecting and nurturing that’s why they are in care.

I lived with an unstable roommate that wasnt quite that bad but almost. She moved out after a few months to her parents who took care of the baby because she turned into a drug zombie. I had to live every day worried what I was gonna find after I came home from work. The mother was 21,unemployed and her boyfriend was in jail. Little Rozz was the sweetest cutest baby and I helped watch him when I was hime. But she wasnt a good mother. She had mental problems and was depressed about the father not being there. I had to tureaten cps in her because I came home to her having the space heater on high with the door closed and Rozz covered all the way with a heavy quilt. I flipped it off him and the poor baby was sweating and dehydrated. The mother had visits from a social service worker but shed always sufarcoat things. She clipped his nails too close and made them bleed ine time. She hit Rozz for crying when she was on the phone. I dont know what she did when I was at work. Im glad shes out of my house and Rozz is in better care now. That was 2011 so hed be 13 now.

Just about one or two weeks ago there was something on the Swedish news about a doctor from the Mediterranean that had been arrested for "messing around" with small children at the hospital he worked at. He was caught right before he was about to pick up his newly born baby from a Ukrainian surrogate mother. I don't want to think about what his intentions were regarding that child.

14:38 It's true that children of abuse are more likely to become abusers themselves. That doesn't mean that every abused child grows up to abuse it just means there's a higher rate of abusers compared to the general population.

The way I would jump so fast to get those kids out of there, had I been an adult around them. This was a very hard video to stomach. I work with nonverbal children. I was also a foster child myself. This is honestly my worst nightmare. I do not understand how the case worker could fail to save them. The mother must be completely traumatized. I cannot imagine being vulnerable enough to recognize that the kids need to leave the home, to then hear how much they suffered while they were away.

  • @londonsage8696
    @londonsage8696 Před 13 dny +5

I was abused as a child very badly. I promised myself that if I ever had children, I would never put my hands on them. My son is 44 years old and I kept that promise. I never wanted to make my child afraid of me like I was afraid of my abuser. I still have scars, but as I got older, I covered them up with tattoos. I decided to put beautiful tattoos over the scars so I wouldn’t have to look at them. This is so tragic and heartbreaking. There’s nothing worse in this world than hurting a defenseless child. I am not a violent person, but if I’m going to get in to a fight, I wait until I’m matched in size. I would gladly be violent towards Samantha and Jennifer.🤛🏽🤛🏽💪🏽💪🏽 In a heartbeat😡😡 it takes a lot to make me cry, but this video I had tears streaming down my face. Leila truly was a beautiful little girl and was taken away from two monsters, actually three because of Samantha. I’m glad Jennifer and her husband didn’t get the death penalty. I’m sure they’ll be suffering enough in prison, especially after the inmates know what the two of them did. In a perfect world Samantha should’ve been charged as well for neglect as a caseworker she got off lucky by only being fired. I always try to figure out why I was abused and there were four of us children, but I was the one that was singled out. I had a different father and my mother hated him and I think every time she saw me she saw him. The only thing that I think I did wrong was being born.
Rest in Peace Beautiful Angel 😔🐶🐰🐱🦄🦋🌹🌸🌼🪻💐🌺🌷🪷🥀🧸🕊️🩷

Ok so this case is different than many of the child abuse cases I’ve seen….. in so many others , case workers won’t even actually see the child …. Of course with the reason ,” they are too overwhelmed with too many children that they can’t see them all.”
In Layla’s case the caseworker actually did see the kids , talked to the daycare, went to the gymnastics class …… yeah she went but DID NOTHING 🤬🤬🤬
There’s no excuse! These caseworkers need to be held accountable BY THE COURT ! Not just lose a job but be prosecuted. It’s disgusting!!!!
Excellent work on Layla’s case. Thank you for introducing us to Layla & brave Millie ❤️
