- England is facing some of its worst flooding since 2007 after storm Henk drenched central parts of the country earlier this week. Today, there are nearly 600 flood warnings and alerts in place.

The title is a bit Ambigious. Most of the flooding is down to inept councils who do not clear the drains twice a year and planning officials that put council revenue before common sense. Drains near me have not been cleaned in nearly 20 years, they are blocked, full of muck mixed with engine oil that has been dumped. Around the corner there is, rather was a drain in a pavement - never cleaned. Last year they deactivated the drain by covering it in Tarmac - it still floods there just as before!
Living on a hill I watch the water run down my street over blocked drains and onto the main road past more blocked drains and then floods the road. And the council sits there blaming climate change. This country does not help its self anymore. Back in the 1970's and early 80's drains were cleaned twice a year, now you are lucky to have a drain cleared. The EA are also quite happy to blame Climate Change, yet are often ignorant when showing little concern by approving schemes that cut down trees, concrete over fields, give up putting up flood defences because it is too wet.....

No surprise really. Today is the first day without rain in months.
In England the floods are because there is no cleaning of the pipes that take rain water away from roads.
Rivers are not cleaned of silt because of a directive that this will harm nature . Thus is not a regular work.
The only way a ship can sink because of the rain is if either the roof or decks have serious leaks. Maybe the crew left a hatch or ventilator open. For this report trying to pin the blame on the weather is laughable.
Building hundreds of new houses on the flood plains has exacerbated this over the last ten years.
@@Ribeirasacra They blame the weather because it is not warm and sunny, not to cold, not to wet etc. Blaming the weather is pathetic, now they are saying it is climate change. Funny how the Romans constantly moaned about how wet Britain was and that was before anyone had a car. It's not climate change it is lack of care to the country. More houses, more Council Revenue, More people means more taxes. Stop building houses on fields.
i went to a meeting in pershore few years ago. The ea were there , they had a 1000 year flood plan for the area. /Several locals suggested dredging the river which they used to do. The EA said t wouldn't make any difference. I'm an Engineer , so, I understand how things work. If you have a larger dia. with which water can flow thro;u;gh it -will allow a greater quantity of water to flow. not according to the EA.

Over here they like naming storms. This one was called Henk. We only started doing this because it sounds good and scare the public into believing the climate is changing for the worse. Like this week they have a cold weather alert - my weather App is telling me it is going to be average temperatures for January! We also have a weather service that is showing temperature colours on the weather map that indicate it is warmer than it really was. We had orange shades for 11c FFS.

Simple. We used to clean road gullies and drains and dredge rivers,funny that isn’t it,don’t recall many floods back then. Climate change my arse,maintenance more like.

I live on the river trent in Nottingham in a boat its incredibly high water, i am completely cut off i cant go anywhere
