- Aventador SVJ laps the Nürburgring Nordschleife in 6:44:97 minutes under the formal scrutiny of Remak personnel who managed time and GPS certification using VBOX-Racelogic instrumentation.

9 years ago, 8 years before the SVJ broke this record, the Zonda R did an astonishing 6:47 lap and it was brutal. To see a street legal car be faster than Zondas fastest car ever is absolutely insane
A road legal Radical ran a 6:48 on road tyres the year before the track only Zonda ran a 6:47 on slicks.
Mistake fixed the huayra R is faster

Double clutch doesn't fit in an Aventador. They'd have to fully redesign the car for a double clutch system.
As per the rumours it is a single clutch and like what Michael said... they'd have to redesign the chassis which they won't do...
Hari Haran why do it anyway when you get the weight reduction of a single clutch gearbox and 50milli second shift times in corsa mode? The aventadors clutch only sucks driving around town, and even then who cares because it's an Aventador!!!

As devastated as I am that my most favourite car, the Aventador, is going out of production, I am glad that Lamborghini have arranged a fitting send-off for what is considered one of the greatest series-production cars in history. Bravo Lamborghini, keep the naturally-aspirated flag going high!

Yep! Not bad! He's really fighting the bull! Misshiftings, Understeering, Sliding... But HE shifts! Other people just drive in full automatic mode! This is a bad trend nowadays! Many testdrivers and journalists just drive in full auto and this is lame... I mean, proof that you are an able driver! Like this guy! ;-)

Have to remember at the end of the day it's still an Aventador, it's still on the bigger and heavier side
That driver extracted everything that car had to offer, a true representation of the capabilities of the design. Not quite as smooth as some of the other top laps but if you're not on the raged edge you're not racing, it also shows the car inspired enough confidence in the driver where he felt comfortable taking it to the limit. To me it seemed that some of the other top cars weren't pushed to there max which makes me think they must get increasingly unstable and unpredictable the closer you get to the limit so the drivers settle for 9/10ths

Ja , I dont know too much about tarmac driving , but it sure looked unstable and a lot of correcting and 4 wheel slides , even if the tyres were warm at the end of the lap , still an outstanding lap , congratulations !

or the other cars are just far more predicable at the limit and better balanced, so that the drivers don't end up needed to fight the car or catch unexpected slides when driving at the limit. This car looked like a handful to drive
gearbox is impressive, considering that it’s a sigle clutch ! It seems as fast as double clutch
gearbox is actually what holds this car back the most, whle it may physically shift close to the speed of a dual clutch, it's so violent that it shifts the entire weight of a car that is very heavy, which can upset it mid-corner and actually does ruin the acceleration arc by a considerable degree, it's partially why this car is slower than the huracan in a straight line.

@@maurizioarrivabene8182 I think the way this car drives (responds to bumps in corners at speed, over/understeer predictability etc) it may be difficult to get a fast and perfectly smooth looking lap. Maybe VAG wanted to leave scope for Porsche and Manthey Racing to come back at it, rather than having the Lamborghini practice a huge amount. Then again large amounts of single manufacturer practice may not be possible at the Nordschleife due to use of the circuit.

Edit: Lamborghini did a great job with the SVJ setting a new record, *BUT* ... there was parts in the track where the driver missed a gear or over revved which could be fixed for a faster time...
I'd say without the missed gears or over revs he could maybe make up about 0.8 seconds of time

For those people that say the Lambo doesnt have a passenger seat, I dont think the GT2 RS had one either. And Im pretty sure theyre using the Pirelli P Zero Trofeo R's which are street legal, just like Porsche used the Michelin Sport cup 2's again street legal. Can we not just be appreciative of the fact that we live in an age where we have not one but 5 production cars under 7 minutes at the Ring? We are living in great times for automotive enthusiasts! Every time I see one of these videos I think, guys 40 years ago were going this fast around THIS circuit- in aluminum, gas-filled, bombs on wheels. I’m in no way trying to diminish the skill and bravery of these modern record breakers. It just reaffirms the single mindedness on victory that those guys had. Outstanding.
