Leftist MEPs force Hillel Neuer's testimony on UNRWA's ties to terrorism to be behind closed doors

- MEP David Lega, Hillel Neuer, and Matthijs Schüssler discuss today's hearing on UNRWA by the Working Group on External Financial Instruments (WG EFIs) of the European Parliament’s foreign affairs committee where members of leftist EU parties first attempted to prevent the meeting from happening altogether and when that failed they forced the meeting to be hidden from public view.
UNRWA was invited to send a representative but declined to engage and several MEPs walked out before the meeting started. Some refuse to hear the truth but given that EU voters are paying more than 100 million Euros a year to UNRWA, taxpayers have a right to know how their funds are being used, and what they are funding. Forcing evidence to be hidden contradicts the basic democratic principles of transparency and accountability.

I used to work for a moving company in Brussels. One of our regular jobs was to use our mobile ladder lifts to help clean up after EU parties. Hundreds of cases of empty champagne bottles. I kid you not. Hundreds of wooden cases and it was the good stuff too, not fake champagne. All swilled down by people whose salaries reach into the 20,000 euro per month mark. That was more than my wages for a year. This business with UNRWA is just the tip of the iceberg of corruption and waste in the European Parliament.

The UNHCR (United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees) is based in the Geneva, Switzerland and can replace UNRWA.
no need to replace, if UNHCR rules were applied to UNRWA they would have zero people to attend to (which means zero jobs and budgets).

Jordan is the State that cancelled the citizenship of West Bank Palies, in 1988, after being citizens since 1950 when Jordan annexed it and gave them citizenship and half the seats in Jordan parliament. They're refugees of Jordan, whose Hashemite king just out of nowhere said the West Bank isn't part of Jordan anymore, and its inhabitants aren't Jordan citizens anymore either, kind of like suddenly moving away and leaving your pets at the abandoned house to fend for themselves, the cruelty of the Jordanians is stunning. Is that how the Hashemites were raised in Mecca? I guess probably huh?

The king had to call his general friend in Pakistan army for help. When he came, a lot of the Palestinians were killed, but the world was silent. There is an enormous flow of money (handled by UNRWA) which is very, very hard to control due to the intransparent nature of the receiver (Hamas).

Most of this is not even an abuse of the UNRWA mandate as it's been since the beginning.. It's consistent with that. They have helped creating a national identity out of the anger of eternal refugees with different rules and different goals then the _normal_ refugees .

In regard to the education of the Palestinian children: please consider recruiting Montessori teachers. Education sans frontieres. They are well trained, well prepared to deal with any cultural background to educate and guide the very young to be the best person they could be within the framework of Peace. I put my hand up to go should you wish to do so (recently retired Montessori teacher).
It starts with building an environment in which very young humans can thrive, involving parents and grandparents when and where they show interest. The main thing is that the environment is carefully prepared at developing humans' best qualities (as an individaula, and as member and constructive contributor of a community) without force or favour.
The environment is being built as we speak. Sadly brutal and violent but with no realistic alternatives. And I agree a 100 percent, as soon as secular education can start (safely) it will do wonders there. And it will be the brilliant people of Israel making that possible. No UN or else.

When will the word finally get out - UNRWA reports directly to the UN General Assembly - why aren't the concerns raised directly there before the 193 member states, why is there constant chatter somewhere?
It's human nature to object to anything that associates them with guilt. When the initial intention was to help but later turns out to be destructive, they don't want to see what is looking at them in their own mirror. To have an open door meeting would be like having the world see their role and responsibility in creating Oct 7th.
