    Ray Isles. Please read and consider.
    I love it! But I wish the dual alternators were standard. Maybe in the following years Ford can start offering solar on the roof, a 4 season insulation package, bug screens for the side and rear doors, and interior anchor points, so if someone just wanted to throw their camping gear in there... like a cot/mattress, a sleeping bag, a chest style refrigerator/freezer, a camping stove, a portable heater, a portable power station with more power/capability, and a lugaloo portable toilet, then they'd be all set to go.
    I would also like to see an option for a liftgate/tailgate combo in addition to the barn doors in the rear. Nothing feels better than sitting on a tailgate with a beer enjoying a beautiful view! MAKE IT HAPPEN FORD!!!
    The Transit Trail looks much better too! It finally looks sexy, but Ford needs to offer it in more colors, like "Desert Sand" for example! And correct me if I'm wrong, but I think the newer Transits finally got the GEN 2 Ecoboost engine that has both direct and indirect injection, which greatly reduces a lot of the carbon buildup problems the GEN 1 Ecoboost had.
    And finally, Ford just bitch-slapped GM/Chevy & Ram with their van of pure AWD awesomeness! Well done Ford! Now... if they just implemented my suggestions, Ford would then drive the stake right though the heart of their competition, including Mercedes!
    MAKE IT HAPPEN FORD!!!

      Where could I possibly find out the actual specs of the platform particularly interested in the electrical and what actual components are being utilized as well as if there is any actual plumbing done to this at all ?
      Is there anyone out there that might have a insight on this information ?
      I'm Literally on the fence cuz of the timing predominantly that it takes to get past the insulation and electrical building portion of the van build itself, nonetheless the rest of the build itself ....
      Although just wondering whether this platform is necessarily up to standard at a latter date if you would like to beef up the electrical system as well as the addition of solar panel and such ?
      Would you have to strip it all down to bare Bones and start from scratch or could you actually utilize the wiring for example the actual infrastructure itself ?
      Same question goes for the plumbing portion of things ?
      Since I didn't hear much, don't quite recollect having touched that topic much at all is there any plumbing at all or not 🚫 ❓
      Any input at all would be highly appreciated

      @@renealvarez9328 No plumbing systems and no solar but can be ordered with an extra alternator. It also comes with an extra 12 volt battery and a 400 watt AC inverter. The Trail Package mainly does the chassis enhancements for better winter road and fire/dirt road driving (no serious 4wheeing) but leaves the interior van empty (except for the roof fan) so people can design their own interiors.

      Ford has to draw a fine line with this van. They probably don't want to be seen as competition for the upfitters. Also, whatever they include has to be maintainable by Ford dealers. As a result, what they add to the van will always be intentionally limited. They're likely to add things like built-in wiring and mounting points for things. They're not as likely to include add-ons like solar panels and mosquito netting. They're not very likely to re-engineer the entire structure of a Transit so that a tailgate could be an option. It could be done, but the result would be insanely expensive. What they are likely to do is add mounting points for an outside rear bench. An upfitter's bench could have cupholders, padded cushions, outlets, etc. Those mounting points could also be used to attach an upfitter's ramp for bikes and motorcycles. I seriously doubt that Ford dealers would ever want to be involved in fixing plumbing, so it's not likely that Ford would add that to this model.

    My take, fellow upfitters, the TRAIL is not a Sprinter killer or promaster KILLER, Not yet :
    1-Not redesign involved
    2-Marketing cosmetic red lipstick...still a cargo van
    We need a true redesign oem camper van ready for upfitters:
    1-better suspension oem, like liquid springs in the back for many needs and desires such as , better departur angle when needed on the spot etc.
    2-AC ducted to the back running from the engine(not a one ton mini split), same with floor heating system, get the most of that powerfull engine. Or a total redesign of HVAC system optimized for upfitterd of class B+.
    2-side flares fittings ready to install after market flares.
    3-the current interior structure is optimized for cargo missions. Hence, redesign interior structure (at least 10 different types and options for upfitters) to optimize installation ...total redesign of interior cealing structure for drop down accesories such as Showers, drapes, kitchens, tables, storage, beds etc. Redesign the floor interior and exterior for things like, oem shower trays, water tanks(plural) that could fit in every unusable hidden space.
    4-computer module hacking access to make the AWD more off-road capable such as sustainable silp diff. etc
    5-detachable or option not to order the obsolete ,2000 year old design, backdoors (cargo doors not design for upfitters) to install our own back design set up, just imagine....Jesus, ala MadMax style designs back there.
    5-detachable access pannels on the side for access to all, all utilities(a must have for upfitters). The engine has an access panel, i think.
    6-Option of hybrid pronto, did i say hybrid...we jave been 120 years with the same engine....
    7-make the Transit trail lighter by 750 kilos.
    8- 100 different options
    -Ford, if i may suggest, make a van design for upfitters...to have a true canvas to work on.
    All these for a price of 45k msrp, then u will have a true Sprinter and Promaster Killer.

      @mikestevens2053 Před 3 měsíci

      I'm guessing not enough people are interested in having such a heavy-duty system to make offering it economically worthwhile to Ford? If you want true off-road capability, a huge delivery-style van isn't the best vehicle choice anyway.

    • @digitaljustin92
      @digitaljustin92 Před 3 měsíci +1

      @@mikestevens2053 Hi Mike. They make the F150 which ticks all boxes and costs less than this Transit. Quigley uses F150 parts for the upgrades. It’s all about maximizing profit. These are $75,000 empty vans. If it was $35,000 I’d agree. Not asking every Amazon delivery van to have 4WD, but at this price point I am asking for an up fitted (with parts in their inventory), capable vehicle that gives me peace of mind in the back country. It gets even worse in the aftermarket where they take these vans, install $20,000 worth of batteries and IKEA furniture to then charge $200,000.

    Ok Ford if your listening - make this a hybrid like the Ford F150. I will be interested in seeing what happens with roof racks (that accommodate the vent) for this - if I can get an easy way to get solar up there it will be a good fit for what I want. If I could integrate those in with a built in battery system it would be even better -- it's not that I want to drive the Van off the solar I just want to be able to run a kitchen and computer off of it. And yes a system can be built but that means going to multiple places to get the 'mechanicals' for the van fixed -- it would be ideal if you all came up with a plug n play electric system using the Ford F150 system as a starter. Thanks Russos for covering this - it was a nice detailed look at it and I really appreciate you going to Michigan to talk to them.

    Thankyou Russos. Yet another interesting segment. Kinda strange for the Ford representative to breakdown all the included changes and added benefits of this Transit and not give a msrp? I'm sure he's trying to create buzz and interest in this vehicle to help, SELL them. Would have been really easy to throw out a ballpark # as far as price range. Bigger tires/wheels, added lift and AWD are a definite benefit. Wish they offered barn style doors on the passenger side to increase useable space inside and make it a smaller screening size by allowing only one door to be mainly used while in the outdoors. Still leery of the eco boost lasting over 100k miles. Much rather have a Express engine powering this format. Truly don't understand why Chevy hasn't launched a high roof "cargo"(no side windows) van. Maybe Ford doing this will inspire other manufacturers to offer similar trim levels for the outdoors and van life enthusiasts. Thanks again.

    I inquired about the Ford Transit "Trail" a few weeks ago. It is a mixture of "cosmetic" features and price point. It is NOT a boon-docking machine nor is it a machine that you should consider driving to the Arctic Ocean without serious modifications; most importantly a full size rock resistant A/T spare tire. Ford's target market place seems to be "weekend warriors" who wish to go a little further off road but not too far.

    • @Weretherussos
      @Weretherussos  Před rokem

      We boondock in our Transit all the time. The van doesn’t limit boondocking - it’s how you chose to build it out. We’ve also taken our Transit well off the beaten path and it’s done VERY well (and this was with a motorcycle on the back). Now with a factory lift on the Trail model, it will probably perform better than our Transit. Throw a full size AT spare in the van and off you go

I recall one of your videos when you joined a 4wd group, aired down your 4wd truck tires, and went to the bottom of a canyon. And, what did we see in the background? Lots of Subarus! There is another issue. Lithium. Yes, Ford will install a 2nd alternator but we discover that it, and the wiring, is not adequate. It will all have to be rebuilt. People are going to mistakenly buy this van thinking that it is ready to go (anywhere) with minimal modifications. That is not true.

    This Executive should have lost his job. They made 1900 Trails, all recalled for a front Tire Rub. It took 2 years to get to production. Once some made it out of dealers in 2023, they were recalled as the tire rub occurs at full pay load and full turn angles. Now as of August 2024, most of the vans still cannot be released to customers so they are sitting at the Factory storage lot collecting rust or sitting at the dealers unreleasable. The fix now is only going back to mounting the smaller 235 tires sometime in November, so negating the entire reason for the body lift for getting a larger tire on for a 1" clearance over stock. Joe, please give your thoughts on what should happen to Execs who don't deliver as promised and tied up customer orders for up to 2 years? Downsizing staff is what Corporations call layoffs of workers, but that would be too easy for those involved here. A claw back of salary is what is needed in my opinion due to lost of Customer Goodwill during this failed launch. But this exec will likely get promoted to his next project. The quality lost by the design team says someone should pay, besides the customers. The 2025 ordering catalogue does not include the $12,620 Trail option now. It was DOA.

Is Ford working in bringing a hybrid transit that would extend the drivability further w/out spending too much on gas if the price of gas goes up? Because no matter how great a vehicle looks if you are not able to enjoy it going places w/out having some saving it becomes a problem? Or as some people have sometimes thought that if you can afford such a vehicle you can also afford to pay for the fuel regardless. Uhmm? 🤔

      I know... but since so much time was spent talking about the spare, it was a bit odd to not mention the idea of going with an aftermarket mount as part of the upfitting process. If one has any desire to venture into the back country with this van, I would consider a full-size spare to be mandatory.
