They weren’t watchable at this point either. ESPN really started going downhill around 2005-2006, but I refused to watch after 2014. Too much political analysis, not enough highlights.
@ChillyCloth exactly. Look back at Bills career on ESPN from like the mid 2000's through to 2013 or 14 when his contract wasn't renewed. When he knew he wanted to leave and start his own sports media network (just podcasts really) he was saying some wild shit. I used to love Bill and valued his opinion but now he just sounds like a hater every time he and his boys talk about Lebron lol. I give him maybe another 5 years before he fizzles out.

I know the disconnect was a coincidence, but it was an awesome one. It really makes it feel like he was gonna say something controversial, when he really wasn't lol.
Simmons was not a conventional broadcaster, but I didn't think he needed to be blipped out of existence by garbage ESPN. He always created interesting rapport with former players; more watchable than most of the combos that network has put together.
Ray Allen lost a 7 game series to Lebron's Heat and then immediately took a pay cut to join them, I don't want to hear "Oh but was just a role player", weak ass move
Right, at the time he was the greatest shooter to ever live. Obviously now it’s Steph curry, but the argument could be made that he is still the greatest spot up shooter ever
I think that Ray Allen wanted to get revenge on the Boston Celtics by doing that. Remember the Celtics and The Heat had a huge rivalry at the time and there was rumors going around that the Celtics were not resigning Ray but instead wanted to trade him and when Ray found out he got pissed as one should so he went to the heat and gave the Celtics the finger lol
No, the reaction was way too fast. Maybe if he'd kept talking for another 15 seconds it'd be more reasonable. Someone needs to realize he's talking about it and then tell the person who actually controls the camera to do that, it wouldn't have been like 0.3 seconds.
Benji Huynh A little longer than that, bc networks usually broadcast with a delay, just in case someone curses or flips out. They have a “dump” button.
You are all missing it. It's not what he was going to say it's what he already said. He was eluding to the fact that Lebron was a walking ring because of the quality of players he attracted/recruited.
@Bill Hoyle I think you meant 4/10 (in the Finals). 3/9 is outdated. Everybody except the players on the 60s Celtics have lost the championship more times than they have won it. The years that a player doesn't make the Finals count too, it's not just Finals appearances that count. In fact, losing in the Finals is more team success than losing earlier in the conference playoffs, that's a fact.
Bill Simmons is the greatest non-basketball player US basketball has had, period. The NBA & ESPN just have their finger so far up their bum & are so frightened of him, they never realised it & now they can't get him back for less than $1B

@ChillyCloth he’s said again that it was a real connection issue on his Ringer podcast so that point is invalid

Whatever happened to this dude? His career went down the crapper after the messy break up with ESPN.
