Imagine this… your a Japanese consumer, just looking to get wasted somewhere… you go to the nearest izekiya (don’t know how to spell it, sorry) and you see some clearly american man in what you just thought was pretty much an all japanese, tourist free town. He’s getting “medium drunk” and is laughing his ass off, giddy as you’ve ever seen anyone ever, talking about the elusive “michaelsoft binbows” in a terribly broken japanese/english mix with the biggest smile on his face. He says the words as if it was a friend he lost years ago and finally reconnected with… you can’t help but smile yourself as you wonder what it possibly means…
He’s also chatting with some other dude about star wars in a way that sounds like both of them are trying to convince the other that they are a huge fan even though neither have actually ever seen the movie once
He will remain known as an urban legend "the michaelsoft binbows drunk american guy" perpetually in that area

37:24 On the Michaelsoft Binbows door, I think you skated past the lone reference to its glorious past. It looks like the logo had been on the door and was painted over. You can see the remnants of the "S" and part of the "H" from "SHOP".
We must crowdfund the purchase of the door and hire an art restorationist to preserve the history.
Keen eye. This looks plausible
I think you're right
Oh my god, you're right! That's definitely the 'SH' from the store logo, top orange box!!!!!!
This store has probably been abandoned for a long time since Michaelsoft Binbows closed. I'm hoping the current owner watch this video and then reach out to Nick to allow this to happen, or just let Nick enter the building.

The Japanese culture is very strict on boundaries and you could have been brought to the attention of the authorities but thankfully that didn’t happen. Your trip will live forever in your memories and of the viewers and also for however long CZcams keeps it up. ❤
Well, to be honest, yes, the japanese culture is strict on boundaries, but
a. is he a tourist and these boundaries are often overseen as a politeness when you are not from Japan and
b. he didn't destroyed anything, he left it as it was there before. Yes, filming inside a building isn't allowed without the owner allowing it - but there the rule is, that when they said no complaint, that means you are ok.
c. the police in such a rural area wouldn't come for a tourist who filmed a meme place. He didn't invaded a private home, but he went up the stairs to a cram school and didn't caused any trouble. So there would have been no reason for the police to come.
@@acmenipponair Plus the Izakaya owners likely informed the cram school owner(Willing they don't own it) that he might come along, take some pictures/video and leave. So I doubt there'd be any arguments or issues.
1. That train was so rad looking 2. By the fact people mentioned you in reviews before you ever got there, made you part of that place's history. 3. you have a mission: tell your friend to go to the michaelsoft binbows building
You know what you have to do.
@@neontdWhere is it? I live in Fukuoka, but I'm going to visit family over in Kanagawa and Tokyo in a couple months. Maybe I can go see it. Lol
Oh, just saw it's in Gunma?? Okay, can't go that far~
in tokyo as well, thought I'd be seeing a lot of tourists but not really, even the most touristy spots had 2/3 japanese people (or I guess some could be chinese but they do tend to stand out in mannerisms)
What do you mean part two
Top tier content. I'm new to your channel, but love your videos. The Persona music actually fits really well into this video especially. Keep up the great work.
Excellent! My brain works in a similar ways to your. I can get sentimental over certain areas buildings that have certain value to me for certain reason and I am imaging people who were there before, walking there, etc..and I can become completely lost in that thought process emotionally.
I love how far Nick will go for his viewers, and his own curiosity. It's so silly, yet so inspiring. We love you Nick!!! Thank you.
Not gonna lie, it's kinda sad that Michaelsoft Binbows is not around anymore.
@@alcor4670 Yeaaa. But hey, the building stands tall. Could be worse.
Thank you, I really appreciate your kind words. It's just like you to be reminded that my approach to filmmaking is silly, yetInspiring Awn7mFktpB4
@@alcor4670 Lets just appreciate that the building, it's official tombstone, is still majestically in use.
This reminds me of the people who spend years searching for old Windows XP wallpapers. These are real places that would be of no significance, if it weren't for some random photos taken 20 or 30 years ago. Actually finding these places, and then standing there, must be a really strange feeling.
the Bliss place is barely recognisable now.
@@RWL2012 it definitely looks different with all the grape Vines on it but I can definitely still recognize it's the same spot at least from the pictures I'm seeing of it
@@RWL2012 Yes. "Autumn" is beautiful though.
really love how well edited this video was, especially 15:27 when gas gas gas played as you passed the Initial D ad.
Those are actually lyrics from Deja Vu
Imagine if you bought this building and made it Michaelsoft Binbows for real! This is the first video I have watched from you and I immediately subscribed. This was amazing!
Having been a member of the NA-based OS-tan forum for the past 15 years, that segue into OS-tans was like being hit by a truck. Thank you for keeping their memory alive
The attempt to scan the phone was unnecessarily hilarious
I have no clue what I just watched, but as an MMO gamer, I can appreciate this. You took us on an epic quest filled with lore!! Michaelsoft Blibows will now live rent free in my head. ❤
This is the content we need, your channel is so awesome :)
as someone named michael thank you for visiting our store

I’ve been learning Japanese on Duolingo recently, so when I saw きつぷ on the button at 9:43 I was proud of myself for immediately thinking “oh he’s getting a ticket”
Close! The correct spelling is きっぷ, not きつぷ! The difference that needs to be considered is that the つ character is written in a smaller font (compare and contrast: っつ).
This is called a 促音 ('sokuon'), and is pretty much an empty mora (or "syllable") in the middle of the word.
@@demetriusmorgenroth2835I didn’t know there was a word for it. I’ve been calling it a 小さいつfor years lol
@@backloggamereviews Most people do! There are specific terms for most special sound patterns but pretty much only the people who really get into studying the language know it. I'd assume that most Japanese natives also do not know the formal term.
Of particular note are also the 撥音 ('hatsuon', the ん sound), the 鼻濁音 ('bidakuon', when words from the が sound pattern are pronounced with a soft ん in front of them for "prettification" purposes - an example being when announcers pronounce 右 as kind of a みんぎ instead of みぎ) and the 拗音 ('youon', composite sounds, such as しょ, きょ or みゅ).
I had the same feeling when that woman asked him if he knows japanese, using the word nihongo
this was SUCH a great video dude
thanks for sharing this with us !
Well done, I watched your first journey as did many others, and it was Awesome to see you complete the journey as well as hold the door handle to the room, Fantastic adventure.
As a Japanese-American who is also from L.A., I'd like to state that I found both the original discovery vid and this follow up to be utterly fascinating and enjoyable. Thank you for documenting this epic journey!
The great thing about the OS-tan concept was the Japanese marketing embraced the idea and took it on officially. There was even one by Kenichi Yoshida of _Overman King Gainer/Eureka Seven/Gundam G no Reconguista/The Orbital Children/that crazy scene in Princess Mononoke when Ashitaka shoots both of a guy's arms off with one arrow_ fame.
hahaha yep! i have a vivid memory from one of my first trips to japan of walking past a pc shop in Akiba, seeing a sign advertising Windows 10 with an official OS-tan on it, and doing an actual double take
Such a wholesome video! I cant believe you followed through to see the meme in person!
Michalsoft Binbows is nostalgic to me on many layers. One, me and my friends joked about this meme nonstop in Middle school. Two, it feels like setting foot inside an actual early 2000’s liminal Space that has been forgotten. And Three, that original photo just gives of that early 2003 pre-CZcams meme energy. Something my brother would show to me thinking it was funny when I was like 5 lol. This video makes me feel like I’m reminded of my childhood, thanks Nick! 🙏✨
When you are drunk and wandering the streets of Japan at night, you know you've done your trip right
8:11 Fun fact that the Japanese countryside is ABSOLUTELY GORGEOUS, and there's all kinds of videos dedicated to train rides through the country side. If anybody wants to chill for an hour, just put on one of those Nagaragawa Railway videos and you'll fall asleep in minutes
