About this video: In this video, we show you exactly how to make a modded Minecraft server for version 1.15.2. We go over every single step of creating a modded server in Minecraft 1.15.2. From getting the Forger 1.15.2 server files to port forwarding your modded server in order to play modded Minecraft with your friends, we really do cover it all in this video. So without any more delay, here is how you can make a modded server in Minecraft 1.15.2!
The first step of getting a #Modded Minecraft #Server is downloading the Forge files you need to download the server software. To do this, go to the Forge download link in the description above. This will actually take you to our single-player Forge tutorial. All of your friends will need to follow this tutorial and install Forge to join your server.
Once you are on our Forge tutorial, scroll down and click the green “Download Forge” button. This will take you to Forge’s official website. From there, click the "Installer" button under the "Downloaded Latest" section. This will download the Forge installer for 1.15.2.
After you have the Forge Installer downloaded, you need to create a new folder on your desktop call “Forge Server 1.15.2”. Once you have that folder created, open the Forge Installer you downloaded. In the Forge installer, click on “Install Server”. Then, click on the three dots in the red area that appears at the bottom of the screen. From there, click on “Desktop”, and click on the “Forge Server” folder you created. Then, click “Open” in the bottom right. Finally, click “Okay” and all of the 1.15.2 Forge server files will install.
From there, create a new text document in your Forge server folder and paste one of the codes above in it. Then, save it with the file “run.bat”. Also, be sure that you change the “save type as” to “All files”. Then, save it. Now, change the file that has Forge in its name to simply “forge.jar”. Double click on the run.bat file and an EULA.txt file will appear. Open that file and change “EULA=false” to “EULA=true”. Once that's done, double click on the run.bar file again. At this point, your Modded Minecraft 1.15.2 server will startup.
You still need to port forward port 25565 on the TCP and UDP protocoL in order to play modded Minecraft with your friends. This is covered in-depth in the video.

Some people will actually name their file forge.jar. Don't! It actually turns into forge.jar.jar, causing some issues with the system Just name it forge!
He talks really quickly and a lot and consistently so that he has to do little to no editing

On 10:31 mine says “ invalid maximum head size, The specified size exceeds the maximum representable size. Error: could not create the Java virtual machine. Error: A fatal exception has occurred. Program will exit.” Please help me

i tried everything i could do for the eula file and it doesnt run after i put “true” so will i be able to just get the apex server and just add the mods there or it doesn’t work like that?-

The server fails when i add mods, i have added it to my client as well as server but yet doesn't work????

so I need help... forge server is working nicely. I can join it perfectly myself. mods are working flawlessly. but I simply CANNOT find out why my friend can't join. I just had him download the same exact forge and same exact mods as me, yet he gets some io.netty or something like that and connection is refused every time he tries to join. I am port forwarded to 25565, AND we are on Hamachi together. we have tried my public ip address, my other ipv4 address, and the Hamachi address and he still can't join any of those. any help??
narchedi it happened to me was well instead I just did direct connect and it worked we were connect to the same LAN for our house tho and am not completely sure if it will work

I GOT THE SOLUTION double click the forge.jar file in your folder it pops all that stuff up
edit: and then you double click the minecraft server .jar file i think it worked for me anyway

What if you wanted to update a 1.14.2 forge modded server to 1.15.2 with all the mods? i've seen the video where you move the .jar to the new server but that was for vanilla.
1.14.2 mods aren't compatible with 1.15.2 mods. If you're speaking about the world you want to transfer, just save the world folder in your 1.14.2 server, if there is a world folder in your 1.15.2 server, delete that and drag in the 1.14.2 world server.
my forge doesn’t have a coffee cup, i accidentally installed a stupid jar extractor before i saw ur vid to know how to open but it won’t let me make a folder now :( how do i uninstall the jar opener

Help, when I try to execute run.bat, I get “the specified size exceeds the maximum representable size” type of error and it doesn’t load anything even if I change Eula to true. It doesn’t matter what size server code I use

What you can do is change the numbers in the text document from -Xms4096M to something smaller like -Xms1000M. Now keep in mind this isn't a very big size so you could experience difficulties, but it will be you going. You can also mess with it until you get a better size that suits you.
Download the 64bit version of Java. You have the 32 bit version.
I was able to get the server running, but when it was downloading i the miencraft launcher, it said downloading out of 2048M instead of 4096M, even though I used the 4096M line of command
Fixed it, I used the Minecraft launcher and edited the forge installation to make it run 4G instead of 2

I play on a modded server is there anyway I could copy everything that server has and make a smaller private one
this might help some people: if the run.bat thing isn't working it might be because you are using the wrong version of java, for versions older than 1.18 use java 8, and version 1.18 onwards use java 17
7:11 i have an error after like a minute or two during the install server and it says "Downloading Minecraft server failed, invalid checksum. Try again, or manually place server jar to skip download."

How do you let your world render differently on a modded server, per say if u have a mod like Biomes O Plenty, and u want to make the world generate a Biomes O Plenty world? Would love to actually know?
Go to the server properties folder (forgot which one was the correct one) and then change "level-type=default" to "level-type=biomesoplenty"

hey I have a problem. I cant play the world with mods. I know they work because playing single player they do work, but when I put them in the mods folder from the server and enter the world I cant even use one. The just enough items mod wont show recipes for any mod I have (although they show in single player) but even if I give myself the blocks/items through creative and place it they just disappear. I really need someones help I tried so many things and it still doesnt work :/

The Breakdown yeah I did it exactly like you explained it in the video, just as soon as I start putting mods in the forge mods folder they don’t work for the server, only for client, or single player (I have them installed on the %appdata% mods folder and on the one created by forge). Maybe I’m doing something wrong idk

Didn't function as expected. I had tremendous lag with my friends, run.bat doesn't run when I "press any key" and constantly crashes after 3 minutes or less.
spectrum has external and internal hosts what should I enter plus it doesn't have a device IP box

After making the run.bat file, it said could not reserve enough space for object heap, but I tried every type of server and all did the same. my computer has tons of space and is a beefy computer so what am I doing wrong, please help.

GUYS ANYONE WHO IS HAVING TRUBLE AT 10:30 OR AROUND THERE you need to doanload a 64 bit java thingy and if your wondering how to do it, look up a youtube video and this guy will show you how.
When I get too the part you click the .bat file around 10:30 seconds in it says press any key too continue instatly and loads no files at all???

You have a _JAVA_OPTIONS environment variable set that is overriding your start script options. Go to Start > Control Panel > System, look for Advanced System Settings, go into Environment Variables, and remove the _JAVA_OPTIONS variable.

when i go to install the server and open with the profile I have, the box stays red, what can u do?
I have a problem because when I click on .bat without any mods it works, but if I put any mod into it, I get a sudden error and can't turn on the server
when i click it just sees "error occurred during initialization of VM. initial heap set to a larger value than than the maximum heap size" what do I do to fix it?
you may need to uninstall java as when you install it it normally goes as the 32 bit version and if your computer is 64 bit you will need to download the 64 bit version in order for the maximum heap to increase making your java work i had the same issue and did this and it fixed my problem

I resolved my issue by searching Google for 64 bit java and downloading that. Hope this helps
So I got the server to work, but my question is: I have the 1gb version of this and the server itself works but will mods also run on the 1gig version?
Probably a few, just test it out and see how many will run ok
The reason i had the mismatched error was because i installed the forge version that ends in "48" on my client and then installed the server with the Forge version that ends in "49", after making both my Client and the Server the same Forge version everything went smooth

I've got 8GB of RAM successfully assigned to the server. The bat file attempts to use RAM memory not disk memory, or what is "storage" on your computer. You do not have enough ram or the ram isn't being identified by your computer.
if its running on the same computer your playing on you can also just make the ip localhost
