July 4 festivities in full swing in downtown St. Louis

Celebrate St. Louis is in full swing at the Arch after kicking off Thursday morning with a parade. You could call the day-long celebration an updated version of fair St. Louis.

Is there a reason for not having one St Louis city high school band, I don't get it? St Louis is always bragging that the parades and festivals are the biggest in the country and I don't see that. They say the Mardi Gras is the largest and best in the country, it could be if you've never been to New Orleans. St Louis can't touch that or New York. So here is the nations birthday celebration and it seems the city tried to give it a national appeal without any city representation in bands smh. They had bands from 400 miles away and only one local high school band from Jennings Mo. so sad, and you wonder why the city is all messed up.
