That would be nice, but I want a more grounded Mahabharat, to be honest. Mahabharat is more than an epic, it's a masterfully insightful story about politics and human behaviour. On a scale of RRR and Gangs of Wasseypur, Mahabharat should be closer to Gangs.

I’m not Indian btw just an Asian girl who is starting to watch Indian cinema. Honestly I think OSR guys actually do pay a lot of attention and understand what is being said. They’re also knowledgeable about films and from what I’ve seen, have a genuine appreciation for Indian cinema. It’s just that…for such a long interview, asking them to pause to discuss would double the length of the vid. And I personally don’t mind since I do see that they remembered most of the important bits

Watched it today... LSC didn't delivered the experience I had with Forrest Gump, but I am happy they were close to 70 percent to be able to do same impact... Aamir as a innocent feels like PK sometimes but *he as a Sikh stands out* . Sexuality, nudity nothing is there. People can go watch it with the whole family absolutely.
Nobody should suffer the experience of having to completely watch lsc let alone the whole family.

During my maternity leave this year I’ve been on an Aamir Khan CZcams binge, so yeah I watched Tum Mere Ho and a bunch of other “flops”, all of which I still loved due to Aamir’s presence. If you’re interested in a great ‘90s Aamir movie, Sarfarosh stands out in my memory as a classic. I think you guys had reacted to one of its songs “Jo Haal Dil Ka”. All the best, take care!

Completely agreeing to his point about a longer gap between theatrical and ott releases.. At the same time i feel there are ppl who will still be willing to wait for ott release no matter how long.. (I'm not talking about the boycott gang, i mean general neutral audience)
Ppl who want to go to theaters are still going to theaters.. The longer gap may push maybe 5-10% more audience but the time and generation now is such i feel there are majority ppl still not willing to pay all that money nd spend so much time when they can eventually watch it from their couch even if they miss it for such a long time! There are ppl who really don't give a damn about the experience of watching the film at a big screen more than the content so that they can watch it at their own pace in their own comfort space!

2. Second movie would be the politics and actual drama = Directed by Kashyap
3. Third movie would be the confrontations and the Kurukshetra war = Directed by Rajamouli
All of them obviously would follow parallel storylines like LOTR.

Piracy is a big problem if you want to release a film after 2-6 months. I know 3 websites where I can watch any movie for free even while its in theater or its on OTT. I do still support movies but many people don't care to pay or don't even have the time to go to theater but they do want to watch it alone in their homes cuzz I know many like guys who are already 30-60 who are alone and they simply watch it for free and are done with it. So yeah the pandemic has largened this group but this is obviously not the majority but it is still a lot of money

Piracy is only a real problem when the film is on OTT, in high quality. No one wants to watch a cam footage of a film in theatre unless they're really desperate.

Btw, please do the read the film reviews of Baradwaj Rangan (Or BR, as well like to call him). Particularly the older ones on his personal blog. He is, by far, the best reviewer in India.
Not everyone is cinephile like you Korbin that they would pay to Rent the film and consider Netflix as free. If they cant go out and want to watch a particular film anyway they would watch the pirated version
You need to watch more Bradwaj rangan interviews, he is one of the best. His interview with Manirathnam in the film companion channel is a masterpiece
He is a really good interviewer and reviewer, not doubt. but he gives fair reviews only for selective films.
For him some films like the tamil film "Jai Bhim", that showed a true incident of caste discrimination, isn't good enough for him, because they show the true brutal atrocities done by the higher caste people to the lower caste ones.
He being from the higher caste himself, goes through a massive guilt trip, but deep inside he is in denial and would never accept his bias towards those films.

FYI, I have worked with Mr Rangan for a year and a half in a film project. I respect him for the vast knowledge he Possesses about cinema. We personally have had several conversations about both our ideologies too. But, here I haven't mentioned anything from those personal conversations.
What I have mentioned above was something that was addressed by Mr Rangan himself, while he gave a seminar at my college on my personal request.
I would never speak stuff about a person without being sure about it myself.
I also believe that Mr Rangan himself would agree that I have all the rights to state my opinions about him.
I also respect your opinion about the film Jai Bhim being an "OK" movie. You have all the rights to give your opinion.
But all I want to say is that majority of the people who saw that film would disagree with you.
I personally disagree with you, because Jai Bhim was a movie about a real life incident, which was actually even more brutal than what was shown in the film.

I don't think the rental system really works in India. The mentality is if I still have to pay to watch the movie, I would rather pay it to watch it in theatres.
That's exactly why it would work. Only people who can't go to the theatre would rent it, it's the same for USA. It would make it possible for you to watch at home, but also make theatres very attractive, hence reviving the industry.

🌸 Used to love Forrest Gump as a teenager in the 90s, until I grew up and learned about geopolitics, wars and socialist movements like the Black Panthers, hence the film’s propagandist leanings became more and more apparent to me. I still love the characters and the drama though, but by now I find the film absolutely unwatchable. There is a wonderful analysis called “Forrest Gump - What are American Values?” on the CZcams channel of Renegade Cut, that pretty much sums up my issues with the film.
