Amazing how Nathan can be on tour with Level 42 and in this video at the same time. He's mastered the art of Teleportation.
He is a King, so ...
Another great way to make your Bass sounds like a synth bass is. Fuzz + Filter pedal. Throw in an Octave pedal aswell.
Especially a fuzz with a hard gate. Works a dream. Cheers
a chorus, a vibrato and a pedal that does unison sounds as well
A P-bass and a synth is a classic sound, I love it. My mind goes to Deacy and Flash era Queen and Scott Thunes on a mini moog. That Boss pedal was astonishing.
Wow, a synth pedal was something that I didn't know I needed. Very early in the video I realized I need to get one of these. At the end of the video, I realized I really want all of them.
Always fun to find new tones. When I bought an EHX Bass Balls about 15 years ago, everything changed. Synth pedals just add to the fun.
Best demo I’ve seen for any and all these pedals, as well as the bass guitar itself.
This was one of the most fun videos you guys have done in a while-nice work!
Missed a trick not having the Source Audio bass ultra wave on your board for this. Good video though gentlemen
Or the miku bass
They all sound pretty good but my hat goes off to Boss..they put together a synth pedal I wouldn't mind owning! Sure packs a punch and sounds great. I like the Electro harmonics as well... it has some classy retro patches.
Best demo of the EHX mono synth! Awesome playing, nice to focus on the cool sounds you can get without the expression pedal!
As much as I love making my bass sound like a synth, what's always missing is the punch that a real one has. Sure the tone is there but it always sounds just a bit weak, like it gas no body. Maybe its because I'm going through an amp instead of a full range PA?
That's part of the issue, yes, but also, keep in mind that almost certainly you can blend in an octave and/or the direct sound.
I have the EHX mono and it's a great pedal!
I just want to walk into a music store and say, “I’ll take one fart sound synthesizer pedal please! I need something to make my bass sound like an intergalactic fart” 🤣😂🤣
Can a bass sound like a synth?
*watches first 10 seconds*
Yup.
Thanks for doing this video, bass and synth tones go really well together
These pedals don’t “track” so to speak. That’s why they are so effective. Mainly referring to the boss one. They are definitely performing a fast Fourier transform in real time and reshaping the peaks rather than trying to work out what notes you’re playing.
I have an SY1 which I use with my guitar. It responds to not just the volume of the note but also whether I use a pick or fingers, or slightly palm mute the strings as well. But it is completely unaffected by which pick-up or even which guitar I use. So the sound is clearly 100% generated by the unit. It's an amazing device.
@@simon_patterson only because the overtones from the different pickups are ignored by the device.
6:00 that's sweet it sounds like horns
It's cool to synth a bass. It's an important fill instrument, but can be kind of boring at times. These pedals sound pretty cool for those that use pedals. I would be highly interested in an actual synth pickup bass and software to modulate it in a dedicated format. I do with my processors and plugins now when working on material and tracking, but it would be cool for a company to take it to the extreme.
I have 3 of the boss sy1 pedals in parallel
Play in a 3 piece band and can cover a lot of key and synth parts
Damn Pete! I accidentally got lost onto the bass channel of Anderson’s and didn’t think you wonder here too!!!
Love these videos so much!
How much bloody fun are those!!!
Answer: Very very fun!! 🤘
They sound awesome, but a Synth's best friends are Reverb & Delay. Hope you try that next time :)
Andertons we need more videos with Nathan and Pete. So much fun!
Great video! Nathan is an awesome musician 🔥🔥🔥
15:25 I like this fart preset.
Damn, that sounds amazing!
Nathan with the fresh cut.
God!!! it’s like Andy Summers has been teleported in to Anderton’s from Air Studios 1981
Should have used a Source Audio C4 Synth instead of the Keeley.
The analog Keeley just can't keep up with the digital units, you really have to limit your playing range to keep it tracking.
Where is the Source Audio C4??? You’re missing out on one of the best bass synth pedals ever!
I see the nuclear green finished Charvel San Dimas bass proved popular enough for Fender to use the color for themselves
Needs a Korg Miku…
Your headphones are so happy now.
Would have liked to see the Beetronics Swarm.
Yes, even my old @ss achieved synth tones on an electric bass way back in 1999…
The sound from 43 to 58 seconds in reminds me of when I'm not plugged in properly.
Wheres the SA C4?
Pete's facial expressions are utterly priceless.
Why is there not yet a bass synth pedal named Farting Robot
EHX FTW
As I play bass as well as keyboard, there's no need to to mix those up. 😂
All thats great but you need two of you to get the sounds your producing, how can a Bass player on his own do all that while he🥵/she is playing Hmmmmmmmm!!!
These effects do show off bass player skills rather than being hidden behind other instruments.
All I want for pedals on bass are a clean boost and a drive that gives me dirt to fuzz. Plus analog delay. Currently its a Solidgold soundlabs gen1 superduper boost and drive and a BBE two timer.
Stil it sounds cool just cant see using it for bass or guitar. That's what the Roland is for.
Plus the next pedal I buy will be a Headrush unit.
Mastodon says yes.
Sure it can. Ask Billy Sheehan.
I already know the answer to this
We all pooed ourselves! Ha!
And this is where Ableton and Maschine come in to play to many sounds for just the bass..now the bass guitar 🎸 runs the synthesizer too not cool
Everyone’s heard Muse right? The answer has been yes for a while
@Andertons Music Co I think an interesting video would be to make a guitar sound like a bass. Try to get the best bass guitar tone with a guitar.
yes it can. the real question is "should it?"
I see that I’m in the minority here, but I found it pretty annoying that the dude in the hat (Pete?) kept playing around with knobs in a way that no player would ever do - or even be able to do - while actually playing a song. I understand it’s fun, but it’s impractical to the point that I find it distracting and frustrating. I want to know how the pedal functions for a working musician.
He's just annoying full stop. Especially the hat.
Sounds like he ate too many beans.
Neverrrrrrrr.....
why does a frog want to be a goat?
to be continued..........
Whats the point….
just because it can, doesn't mean it should...
why on earth didnt they get an expression pedal for the boss? who would use his hands for it, useless demo in that way...
Two wurds…..,,,,,,Royal Blood
that's 4
Can you don’t ask answered questions please?
Buy a synth
Let’s go Brandon!
C'mon man!
