im about to be living in europe ! excited for the competition out there. Love seeing a lucas main get 3rd?? thats insane 🔥
I'm a greek lucas in the netherlands :)
@@Cutzerella03 im actually going to be living in the netherlands ! That is cool to hear that
@@stoodyy LET'S GOOO. I know like 3 other lucas mains here irl one of them is newer and attended recently( tag is rich or rockingrichard) and the other is the smash 4 veteran WhYYZ and Judgement who picked competitive smash and Lucas a bit later than I did but I've been teaching him a lot :D
I'm Cutter X3 btw, Cutter for short.
@@Cutzerella03 I go by Stoody for my YT channel but my gamer tag is Playboi. Nice meet you cutter ! They have tournaments in the Netherlands? I did not know they had a competitive scene out here and I been trying to find one for a while
I love how l4st was trying his best to stay unbiased while arbiter is very clearly rooting against Sisqui
I just discover sisque like a week ago, and netox tonight. Seeing them both go at it like makes for a great set. These guys are pretty damn good!
Lucas is really good closeup, psi magnet is usable on reaction cause you can cancel your frame 7 absorb frame 1
he has no defined playstyle is all but he needs to get in against Samus.
Lucas is pretty good closeup with dtilt, ftilt, and djc zair to close small distances safely and quickly. Magnet is good at close ranges as well, it’s the safest non projectile move (sans that one sonic move) on shield in the game, so if you think somebody’s mashy out of shield you can throw out a dtilt or back away. Overall Lucas’s shield pressure game is amazing, I think one of the best in the game but I’m a little biased.
@@ScaryShadow818 Fr the mixups are cracked
Cancel absorb wdym?
@@2Kaleb on frame 8 aka the firsy frame after our frame 7 absorb box actually absorbs, it can be cancelled aka you skip the lag into either jump, spotdodge and lag.
This means Lucas and Ness cannot be forced to absorb forever when grounded the absorb cancel is grounded only. In the air , they still have to go into normal endlag after releasing but magnet is not very laggy at all and has an active absorb until you release so it absorbs still when you land. Ness' one combos really easily without releasing and can and can hit twice afterwards for more pressure and advantage.
Lucas's release is a really strong knockback move that is +0 on shield. It trades really well but has less range.
Lucas' one is more defensive as it has less coverage but heals more than ness' and has a frame 6 windbox that pulls more/ scales higher if done in the air and the opponent has can be gimped or cheesed from hitting you or go into freefall during a grounded upb than can go into an aerial one if you pull them offstage.
What's the song at the end of the video?
Selfish high heels by Macross
@@michaelm.curbelo4841 Thank you!!
anyone know that first song? lol
Come on man. Give him the spike @5:39
When in dire, pk fire!
It's has a good knock back, why not use it?
Idk why nitox doesn’t just grab for extra dmg and throw ???
Damn that was a really nice set. Nitro played really clean and really impressed me, never seen a lucas as good as him. Unfortunately, I think the matchup against samus is abysmal and pretty much unwinnable.
Bruh how did you called him ?? xD
Nitox. Lucas samus is even, Sisqui was simply the better player. Don't act like you know anything about Lucas
@@Cutzerella03 I have never really played Lucas or Samus seriously so you are right, I don't really know anything about Lucas or this matchup. I only expressed my opinion on the matchup, hence why I said "I think". I just felt like samus was better at camping, edgeguards better than she gets edgeguarded, killed more easily and as we saw in the games, up B as a defensive option was really hard for lucas to deal with. Again, I could definitely be wrong, just a viewer calmly expressing his opinion.
@@nathanruest-martin3718 Yea, no hard feelings, it just feels like it could spread misinfo is all 😅😅 There is a lot of that in the youtube comments especially in Lucas vod sets. In any case, Lucas's win condition is to get in by either force Samus above him to get a hit or potentially force her further to get close by making samus shield or respect Lucas's tools more, with proper usage of magnet absorb cancels, zair and fire, Lucas can combat her projectiles. Lucas just mainly needs to use those absorb cancels when ever possibly, not to overextend and not to space too far away from samus.
It's mainly even or not a free win for Lucas due to being average on the ground , samus juggling, samus has a lot of built in mixups, missiles have to be zaired and can't be absorbed and Samus is just overall a solid character that you really need to know the matchup for to do even close to as well as what Nitox did.
@@Cutzerella03 missiles sometimes just goes through our zair because of the sourspot.
Lucas can be played by someone who wavebounces constantly and consistently performs perfect 1-frame window djczair inputs just to lose to someone playing *exactly* like a wifi Samus and that's what's wrong with this game.
I was starting to think I hit my cap on how good I can get in this game. Then I switched from Lucas to Ness and realized Lucas can only be taken but so high. I put months into Lucas tech and my ness had a higher gsp after a week of playing him
@@DaLomlMusic gsp is cringe but whatever. Speaking from an offline experience. I've always had the most success with the character Lucas as he is the most fun and comfortable. In any case. He can always be optimized further. what you said is an objective wrong thing that is spreading misinfo
we don't want your pity, this matchup is even, Nitox was doing really well this tourney and got third, he got outplayed is all
@@DaLomlMusic This is not a cap, this is a plateau and a skill + execution barrier as well as well as not acknowledging beforehand if Lucas was the right character for you.
@@Cutzerella03 I'm not here to pity anyone, I'm a Lucas main and I'm well aware of the struggle. Lucas/Samus is not an even matchup in the slightest, it's one of Lucas' worst that isn't against a rushdown character.
Lucas mains are heroes. The only character weaker than Lucas is the sandbag from the controller options stage.
That's just not true
I have a hard time with the Lucas matchup as Mewtwo. He’s got some consistent two-frame options and a lot of ways to deal with projectiles. I think sisqui was playing around Lucas’s tools incredibly well. Lucas is by no means a bad character.
Lucas is definitely not a bad character, many would consider him a high tier.
Unfortunately Lucas has a hard time dealing with Samus' ledge trapping, but then again so many characters do lol.
Lucas is an extremely inconsistent character given his best combo moves and starters dont work half the time
@@armoblood7291 not really tbh, i get djcz super consistently (it’s just muscle memory even if it’s hard at first) and although nair is finicky, using aerial drift to position yourself makes it consistent to get loops or conversions into djcz as well. Drag down nair combos are just ez, and obviously his bread and butters are ez. Lucas has some crucial weaknesses (run speed, oos, etc) but his optimized combo game isn’t one of them.
