- Learn how you can bypass the Start/Stop technology on your Chevrolet. The following models have the Start Stop Technology on them that this will work for:
-Chevrolet Cruze
-Chevrolet Malibu
-Chevrolet Equinox
-Chevrolet Traverse
There are other vehicles that will have this technology on them and it will be the same process as the video shows you.
I know that the technology can be a pain in the butt to understand so hopefully this helps out and makes your vehicle experience that much better.
THE PROCESS
-Step 1: Shift the vehicle into the L, M, or S mode all the way at the bottom of the shift column.
-Step 2: Push the + symbol on your shifter the number of gears that your vehicle has. All Chevy's will come with either 6, 8, 9, or 10 speed transmissions. (On the Driver Information Cluster it will read L1, L2, L3, L4, L5, L6 etc.)
*MAKE SURE THAT YOU HAVE PRESSED IT ENOUGH TIMES THAT IT STOPS MOVING UPIN NUMBERS.
This way the vehicle will still be in automatic and shift through all gears as if it were still in automatic mode.
Please hit that like and subscribe button to stay up to date on whats new with Chevrolet.
All cars should have a disabling switch to permantently switch start/stop off!
I have a 2020 Traverse, had I realized I wouldn't have bought it. I see no reason to ever buy American again.
.....$60 K for a truck and I got to run the floor shifter in low ....how's that class action lawsuit going for bent pushrods , destroyed cams and lifters from the use of aFm (active FOOL management) I wonder what Nissan and Toyota r doing maybe I'll just buy a vw bug
I know this is video is about 4 years old now, but for anyone searching how to disable the car turning off when stopped (now 2023), current Equinox models have a button next to the Hazard lights button - it has a capital "A" inside a circular arrow. Pressing that will disable Stop/Start. Unfortunately, it needs to be pressed when first starting the vehicle every trip, but at least you don't have to do anything with the transmission shifter anymore as in this video.
Just bought a 2020 Traverse, and I don’t understand all the hate for start/stop tech. I can’t even tell when it engages or doesn’t 🤷🏻♂️
Thanks but still a pain. I currently in own 5 cars, 2 of them Chevy's, buy a new car average every year (lots of kids). Won't buy a car that has this feature, period. Better get that message to Mary Barra if you want to sell Chevy's.
My car feels like it's gonna stall every time it come off of auto stop
Thank so much!! I love my Chevy Equinox but this feature was driving me nuts!!!
Even better, you can buy a little tiny. Short cable for about $14. Easy enough that even I installed it in less than 5 minutes. It will solve all your problems.
Just say drive it in manual mode
I have a 2019 Equinox and this bypass works perfectly. I also have a 2017 Ford Escape and that one has a simple on/off button for the stop/start. Much better.
This worked just fine on my 2018 Equinox with the 6 speed trans. THANK YOU for the info.
Thanks bro. Totally saved our road trip. We were going loco .. (rental car).
Just purchased my 2018 Equinox a few days ago & I don’t like that feature & I’ve watched maybe 5 videos & yours answered all my questions Thank u
Also if you pop the hood start the vehicle then close the hood it will disable it until you shut the vehicle off. There is a company that makes a pigtail that plugs in-between the hood open sensor harness that does this for you electronically
Excellent Thank You for sharing the solution!
Just rented a twenty twenty equinox and this really helped me thank you
Thank you for for “must be in manual mode It works 😀😀
I have gotten use to it, and want better gas mileage anyway, but I did learn something with the video. I was not aware that the car would automatically shift from 1 to 9. I thought it would start our in 9 and stay there. So, I will be using this cheat. Thanks.
THANKS FOR THE INFO
