Great interview. I'm almost 80, a wfpb vegan, and on no medication. I think the hardest part about being wfpb is the resistance from friends and family to embracing this lifestyle. One in ten people older than sixty-five, and nearly half of those older than eighty-five, have Alzheimer's disease. It's widely accepted nowadays that memory loss comes with age. Alzheimer's currently robs at least 15 million people of their identity worldwide. This book makes the controversial claim that eating meat may contribute to the development of the disease. In Dying for a Hamburger, Dr. Murray Waldman and Marjorie Lamb draw upon documentary evidence, historical testimony, and inspired speculation to suggest that Alzheimer's: - is a new disease-elderly people did not experience symptoms of dementia in such alarming numbers in the past began appearing after modern meat production techniques were introduced- has soared in nations where these techniques are used- hardly exists in cultures where meat consumption is low- has been attributed to many deaths that are actually the human equivalent of mad cow disease.
They present startling evidence that Alzheimer's may be part of a family of diseases linked to malformed proteins known as prions. They hypothesize that the conditions that allow these brain disorders to be triggered are similar. They propose that mad cow, its human equivalent, Creutzfeldt-Jakob disease (CJD), other encephalitic diseases, and Alzheimer's may have a common antecedent. We know that a form of CJD is transmitted to humans who eat contaminated beef. And we are becoming increasingly aware of the need to monitor the meat supply closely to avoid a repetition of the mad cow scare in Great Britain. But suppose that Alzheimer's also involves prions--the evidence that points in this direction is growing. And suppose that Alzheimer's is also associated with tainted meat. This conclusion seems far-fetched--at first. In this compelling book, the authors come to a frightening conclusion about our seemingly insatiable hunger for hamburgers. Destined to provoke heated argument, this book is definitely food for thought.

Remember vegan is not a diet it is a philosophy. But the healthiest way of eating is a whole food plant-based diet consisting of legumes grains greens fruits veggies mushrooms nuts seeds herbs and spices in a variety of each and that's vegan as fuk! When you truly embrace the philosophy of veganism you will always be vegan and you will find a way to make the diet and lifestyle work. It would help probably to befriend someone who is vegan that you look up too if you can. Best wishes in your endeavor and don't be afraid to fail it's okay we all do. That's the path to success. And that is having the capacity for Applied failure. So keep learning and keep trying and if you need additional help then maybe consult with someone who practices lifestyle medicine :-) or reach out to the community! Educational platforms can help, find something that engages you and experiment with it. What works for me may not work for you. I became vegetarian in my country Argentina when I was 17., it wasn't easy, believe me., all they eat there is meat and on top of that my aunt used to work in a hospital in the department where they do plan the meals and all this ignorant dietitians told her that I was going to died because of the protein myth. I became plant based in 2003 after watching a video from dairy industry, I cried and couldn't believe how humans can be so cruel just to make money. I studied nutrition in 2011 and attended seminars from Caldwell Esselstyn, Collin Campbell, Neil Barnard and more and after I got my diploma I started doing consultations. Now I teach Yoga because it was so frustrating to deal with people that just believe what they hear on tv, and do what others doing without thinking about it. What I do now is that usually I talk about nutrition at the end of the class.
I am turning 67 soon and if I press the accelerator in the class no one can follow.
One think that wasn't mention in the video is the supplementation with b12 and also if you don't expose yourself to the sun to take d3.
Thank you for the video, but we have to remember that people want to hear good news only about their bad habits.

He is a great Ohioan, which is where I was born. His story is very inspirational but also partly sad story about the issues that family members have. I want my parents to live longer and healthier as there is the usual suffering at degenerative diseases we see of people eating the standard diet, at the age of 80.
For one, my mother, father and brother all have hearing problems. I have a very hard time believing this is just 'old age'. A long term study of mental health in patients in two hospitals, showed diet had an enormous benefit. There are flaws with the study and there's only one, because it's not randomized effectively, but it's all we have.
Some things can't be changed but it is clear that diet can fix blood pressure for the vast majority of issues, allowing them to come off of the medicines completely, but only if they are strict on the diet and with doctor oversight.
Well, I have many things to change about myself, many, and it is said we need to start with ourselves. Still, it's painful I can't help my loved ones reduce suffering.

Hello!! Thank you for such a wonderful video!! We too live in Cleveland. In August of 2016, my husband was diagnosed with Stage 3B Colon Cancer. He refused chemo. We radically changed our diet and lifestyle, healing his body holistically. Wfpb is the diet of disease reversal. He remains cancer free and chemo free

I’m 74 and been vegan since 1994. I’m so thankful I found this way of living. I have the heart and artery health of a young person. And of course I’m glad everyday that I am not harming animals or the environment as much as a meat eater.

You can lead a horse to water but you can’t make them drink it -/well obviously some people have never raised horses are animals -but if you shoot some salt to them & put a little salt in their mouth -they drink all the water -so what that means is ,you have to make the information that you’re trying to give to people appealing and it needs to be useful then they will receive the message!
