This book has a special place in my heart. To this day, I remember the moment I found it in my junior high school library, pulling it off the shelf, that brown and orange cover and my mind was blown. This was about 1980-ish. And then the excitement of new books (actually written by Frank Herbert) coming out in subsequent years. I'm glad that new generations have found it ... sad it was a movie that did it. Glad this movie didn't suck as much as previous. Sad that the following movies will change story elements to appease movie audiences.
Steve, Thanks for bringing out some inconsistencies in Dune. I believe it comes down to dramatic devices vs reality. I find it not likely that Duke Leto wouldn't have more guards on duty & that he wouldn't be walking down halls unescorted.
This chapter always makes me nervous. I tend the clench my teeth so if it were me I already would have bitten down on the tooth and killed myself and Dr Yueh.
Maybe I missed something. If he knew it was a trap, why did he bring his whole family there? Why didn’t he go alone?
The Emperor wouldn't have allowed it. He wanted the Duke's whole family out of power, without the chance to come back.
@@squamish4244 Maybe I missed something because I thought they were there just for a visit. They had their own planet. Sort of like the king of Great Britain went to visit a country they colonized.
