As a girl from the East Bay, it’s so cool to see this. Even though I was living a sorta different experience, the music scene was still a big part of being so close to The City & surrounding areas. We always had the best bands. From seeing smaller bands at The Fillmore & Warfield, to larger bands at Shoreline, Oakland Arena, & the Concord Pavilion. Lots of great bands & even better memories.

really enjoyed this doc, as someone who was there (a little bit). I was surprised that there was NO mention of 2 like-minded venues in SF around the time of 924 Gilman's early years - The Farm & Klub Kommotion (or SF label Alternative Tentacles). I know it's about the East Bay but I'd think someone would have at least mentioned them. And I wish Neurosis had gotten a little more attention, as they were probably my favorite band to emerge from the scene. But great to see lesser-known (but great) bands like Spitboy and the Yeastie Girlz get some props. And glad to see Michael Franti talk about his early radical roots with the Beatnigs. Also would have been nice to hear a little more of what touring punks thought about the scene, in comparison to their own scene.
Now that looked fun.
