I cite my sources and they may differ than other people's accounts, so I don't guarantee the actual accuracy of my videos.
Dave Lombardo would be a co-founder of the metal band Slayer and would be hailed as an innovative drummer with some referring to him as and i quote ‘the godfather of double bass’. He would be hugely influential on metal drummers who came after him. Despite playing on 9 of Slayer’s albums his time with the band especially in their later years would tumultuous and end on a sour note. Today let’s take a look at why Dave Lombardo was fired from Slayer.
Lombardo would first meet guitarist Kerry King at the age of 16 thanks to some friends who informed him they lived a few blocks from each other. The pair had shared a similar taste in music. King was already playing in a band with bassist and vocalist Tom Arraya and the last piece of the puzzle was guitarist Jeff Hanneman. King would recall meeting Hanneman a rehearsal warehouse in LA recalling
“As I was leaving, I saw Jeff just kinda standing around playing guitar, and he was playing stuff that I was into, like Def Leppard’s ‘Wasted’ and AC/DC and Priest. So I started talking to him and just said, ‘Hey, you want to start a band?’ I already knew Dave [Lombardo, drummer] and we had been playing together in his parents’ garage a bit, and so I brought Jeff in, then went to Tom [Araya, vocalist/bassist], who I was playing with in another band, and said, ‘Hey man, I have a different band if you’re interested.’ And that was it.”
Lombardo would play on Slayer’s first three albums 1983’s Show No Mercy, 1985’s Hell Awaits and 1986’s Reign in Blood. However by 1986 he would leave Slayer for the first time in 1986 over not being able to make enough money to support himself.. It was during this time he nearly joined Megadeth. He would tell the Speak N’ Destroy Podcast
"A funny story - I was going to join Megadeth when I left Slayer the first time in '86. It was very much on the down-low - probably Mustaine doesn't remember this. But they had opened up for Alice Cooper during the Peace Sells tour, and I went to the Long Beach Arena, and I met with the guys.
"And the main issue at that time was - when I saw the guys, they didn't look very healthy. I think it was a very dark period for them, and I had heard rumors of drugs and stuff like that. I was no saint, but I kept it in check, and they just didn't look healthy to me, I didn't see a healthy path for myself. Sure enough, Gar Samuelson died - and he was an amazing drummer.
It would be producer Rick Rubin who coerced the drummer to would return to Slayer in 1987 and drum on their next two albums. Then in 1992 with the birth of his first child he would leave the band once again. It was during his time out of Slayer for the second time he did session work and performed with a number of other bands.
Lombardo would end up rejoining Slayer in 2002 telling an interviewer in 2004 They gave me a call almost exactly ten years after I left and asked me if I wanted to do some shows. I said I'd think about it. I called them back and it all worked out and it's been going really good since then. He would end up drumming on a few more albums for the band until 2013 when to the surprise of many fans, he was fired from the group. In a lengthy post on facebook he would write
And i quote @Last year, I discovered 90% of Slayer’s tour income was being deducted as expenses including the professional fees paid to management, costing the band millions of dollars and leaving 10% or less to split amongst the four of us. In my opinion, this is not the way a band’s business should operate. I tried rectifying it by letting my band mates know, and Tom and I hired auditors to figure out what happened, but I was denied access to detailed information and the necessary back up documents.
I spent the Christmas and New Year holidays realizing I had toured all over the world in 2012, but yet, had not been paid (except a small advance) or provided a proper accounting for a full year's sweat and blood. On top of this, I was told that I would not be paid until I signed a long form contract which gave me no written assurance of how much or on what basis management would deduct commissions, nor did it p he was fired from the band.
Lombardo wo - Hudba
Slayer treated Dave as an employee and not as an original bandmember. Also, I think Kerry knew exactly what was going on with the finances.
I don't know he seems like he is in denial about it, like how many years can this happen to someone and them not protect their abuser.
never thought one of my favorite bands of all time would have battered women syndrome but clearly they do, they need some serious help.
Kerry just dissed 3 current/former members in about a minute's worth of interview. Guy is a scummy tool, and whatever the sketchy financial arrangements were, I have no doubt he was profiting off it.
@@youtubeshadowbannedmylasta2629 he comes across as a total liar...gotta wear those shades because the eyes are the windows to the soul
You write off most of your earnings and then pay Dave a low salary. Kerry knew what was going on, he is trash.
@@strangevisions5162 lol I thought the same thing
Lombardo is a beast. Slayer was never the same without him. Bostaph is no slouch. And a kickass drummer. But nobody hits like Lombardo.
Divine Intervention with Bostaph was incredible.
I think you didnt listened carefully Bostaph. I know Slayer fans loves too much Lombardo and Bostaph have nothing to do with all these shits. He got big shoes to fill but he did more than a great. Better hands, better creativity.
I hold Bostaph in my top 5 drummers EVER. He is amazing.
I got love for Lombardo, and I understand fans being loyal to an originator, but I didnt see SLAYER until 98 on the Diabolus tour.
They were a metal machine.
I went to see them again 3 days later.
@@davidmorneau5260 no hate for bostaph. You could certainly argue he’s technically a better drummer. I just like the feel Lombardo brings. He hits harder and accentuates better in my opinion . Just a personal preference.
@@saltpeter7429 U gotta hear Bostaph on Exodus’ album Shovel Headed Monster. Paul is a BEAST ! They mentioned John Dette I like him .. but there’s something about his playing I don’t dig .
King didn’t really address the pay disparity. Makes me believe Dave’s story.
The interviewer should have pressed the question, too.
Whomever was interviewing him did not want to press it.
I believe Dave's version of events.
@@hadara69 I do, too. Dave knew.
Why should he? He's not on trial. And Slayer isn't a charity that's required to have open books. They don't owe anyone any financial explanation except their managers
@@herculesbrofister265 When the basis for your pay is a split, nobody honest would argue against transparency. But if you’re ok with musicians getting ripped off, that’s for you to sit with.
Kerry strikes me as one of the most difficult guys you could ever be in a band with, across all genres.
He may shred his ass off, but I never liked the dude.
This is why Hanneman and Araya stick in Slayer all those years and Bostaph was willing to be back in the band?
@@davidmorneau5260 people stay in bad marriages or partnerships for decades. Bands are no exception.
Absolute dickhead. Makes people like Lars Ulrich look friendly and agreeable.
King is trash.
I’ve worked with Dave several times. Helping him setup his home studio, engineering several band projects with him, jamming with him etc. he’s as sweet as can be. Having never met Kerry King, I can already tell Dave is miles above King in the “class” category.”
Definitely Dave is much smarter too... Kerry kept them on the Same business plan model since 1984.. and Kerry is a liar too
You can really tell which of the two is a loud mouth and which let music speak for himself. That's really cool that you got to know and work with him! I'm curious though which project did you guys worked together if you can elaborate.
Met Dave in a drum shop in Brisbane in 2003 along with Dale Crover and John Stainier; they were there as part of the Ipecac Geek Tour and Dave was a really nice guy (the other two were a little stand-offish but not completely rude). All three signed a drumhead for me & posed with me in a photograph, was a great afternoon out. Asked Dave if he got more liberties with his drum parts as I knew his parts in Slayer were mostly dictated by King (sometimes Hanneman too) with drum machines & he said that they'd given him some leeway. I said that the other guys must've grown up a bit which got Dave laughing.
He's the mind behind slayer , Paul was great at doing live shows and playing as close to Dave's drumming as possible, however when it comes to writing with slayer his style is wrong for the band , when people say divine intervention was all Paul's writing they are absolutely wrong , there was a at one time video proof that Dave had recorded ditto head and other songs from that album ,there was video footage of Dave practicing in the studio and you could see and hear him playing ditto head with Jeff ,
The only song that Paul wrote with the classic line up ,that sounds like it's real slayer is , payback .
I never met either but agree…based on interviews I’ve watched…Dave seems far more articulated then Kerry
I cant believe one of the best metal drummers in the world only made 67K in 2011. Thats criminal.
There’s a video were he mentioned that he was getting paid $600 a show.
with inflation today that would be about 1 million dollars, ha. joking. but, yeah I think Rick Jewbin and those manager types really sucked the money out of them. whatever Kanye has been saying...
I know, right? The other guys were underpaid as well but not nearly so. It seems to me the other guys were embarrassed that their drummer knew more about the business that they did. I'll be keeping my day job.
My thoughts exactly. Make more as a plummer.
@@jarleabelhaugeek1217 you actually have to work as a plumber and work your ass off. Playing drums is not work, that's fun. Who cares about making a little more money as a plumber, I'd take the drummer position. People care too much about money
Lombardo on Seasons in the Abyss is why I began actually paying attention to what the drummer was doing.
I was just talking about the drums in War Ensemble and Spirit in Black. That was when I really started paying attention to drums too.
Shit yea I was just learning the kit at the time and I must’ve played that whole album nonstop for weeks trying to figure it all out. Dave was a great inspiration to my 13 year old self. Then I got to see Slayer live at Clash of the Titans tour. I miss those days.
fav song
Come walk with me through endless time....seen em twice, got into them early 90s
i think its there best album
Dave is an amazing drummer. I’m glad he’s still working live shows.
I saw him play recently with Testament, and there were more Slayer shirts than anything else in the crowd - the people have not forgotten him
Just saw him with the misfits
He is not that great technically but certainly solid enough for boom splat metal.
I once listened to two guys chatting about "How Lombardo invented double bass drumming.... while the other guy said nah.... It was Philthy Animal"
Both were wrong it was a jazz drummer Louie Bellson and he played a famous solo in a speed metal style.
That double bass fill in Angel of death still get's me going to this day 🤘🤘🤘
Yes, very simple but effective
hell yeah
Guaranteed, Lombardo's take on the finances is real, regardless of what anyone else says. The music business is about ripping off artists. The movie business is the same way. All these remoras around the artist, hanging on and grabbing whatever they can, to the detriment of the artists.
From hearing about the reason Tom wanted to stop slayer Dave was for sure right.
I wonder which specific group runs and operates those industries? 🤔
It goes well beyond that it was found that members of the band were making five and six times what dave was making. These documents are available if you search... It's public record.
Slayer don't even directly dispute what he said. If it was untrue and he was making money there wouldn't be an issue.
67K for drumming in one of the biggest metal bands dang. I know it was likely different many years ago but that is really dirt when living in CA and taking care of a kid
As much as I love Slayer, damn it, I can't forgive them for how they treated Dave. He deserved so much better for all he contributed to Slayer's success. Awful to think that such a skilled musician and such a great person had to go through that.
Another sad fact is that with all his time in Slayer, Dave never got a writing credit. Paul had 3.😔
I was lucky enough to see Dave play with a Slayer live. He killed it. Brilliant drummer.
Seen SLAYER over 25 times, but things really took a shift when they changed management in the mid-2000's and after Jeff, that was it.
Perfect said!!!! 💯🤙🏼🤘🏼
As many times as I've seen Slayer it sound like management was screwing them all especially Dave.
I'm glad he joined other bands I wish he would have done it earlier and got paid more money. Dave is really a kick-ass drummer he deserves all the money he can make for the skills that he has.
Still one of the best metal drummers of all time.
Lars Ulrich

The fills on Behind the Crooked Cross and Ghost of War are god tier drumming moments. His jazz and punk chops make him what he is...an amazing drummer that deserves just as many accolades as the guitarists and Vox on the stage in front of him.
True muso and pioneer. Uber respect 🤟
Yes! The fills on “Ghosts of War” kill me. The song “Snuff” isn’t one of their best, but Lombardo goes bananas on that track. Slayer is one of very few bands where I concentrate on the drums more than anything else when I listen to them. Not sure if I’ve ever listened to a Bostaph-era album from start to finish.
@@0degreesK I don't mind Bostaph, I was already into Forbidden when he went to Slayer. I dug Divine intervention but Lombardo was THE drummer for Slayer hands down 🤟
@@kanewalsh3167 Didn't mean it as a knock on Bostaph. Just kind of like... hanging out with your ex and her new boyfriend or something. Bad analogy, but maybe you get where I'm coming from, LOL.
Ya the drumming on the whole south of heaven album is phenom hes the stand out on that album for sure
Not too long ago I scored tickets to the Megadeth show with Amon Amarth, Suicidal Tendencies, and Ghost. I don’t know much about Suicidal Tendencies, but I was standing near the doors when they were playing and took note of their drummer. He was a goddamn hell hammer. So I went in, and sure enough I was thrilled to see it was Dave Lombardo. Just a hands down world class drummer. In a league of his own. He deserves nothing but the best.
I saw that tour too. No idea who ST was and even less an idea that Lombardo was with em. They came out, fucked it up and I was hooked after that. Top tier drummer.
@@omardamian6792 I saw ST open for Metallica back in the day - either the Load or Reload tour so at least five years before Trujillo switched bands. They were first up on a triple bill and the second band was a late substitution (Candlebox subbed in for Layne Staley who was "indisposed" IIRC). Mike Muir finished the set and announced something like "hang around, sh*tbox is up next".
Yeah Travis😀When Slayer came to Atlanta and played the ATL Civic Center they had a cool balony which wasn't farr from the stage and watched Dave play drums it was really cool😀😀
He also tours with the misfits now
@@omardamian6792 I've seen videos on this channel claiming Pantera invented groove metal but that's horseshit, ST and a whole shitload of hardcore bands all around the country were already doing it when Cowboys dropped.
He had a little studio set up in Whittier a while back and I remember sitting on his drum kit and just messing around. All the sudden the door opens and in walks Dave. I immediately got up off his throne and all he did was say hello to us all. I was so surprised he didn't get upset with me being on his kit. Dave is hands down the most nicest musician I've met.
Kerry and Araya they were grabbing most of the money and paying Lombardo a pittance, and also denied him all access to financial information about the band. Apparently they resented him because it was Dave's that everyone commented on and it was 90% of the greatness of the band, this sometimes ignites the ego and envy
They had a difficult relationship with him since the 80s, he quit the band for a short time before Reign In Blood i think, and was replaced by one of the Tonys from Whiplash (the thrash band), before Lombardo came back. Needless to say, Kerry King its just another rock star asshole and its a well known fact that Araya was on it only for the money after the 90s. Slayer died with Jeff Hanneman.
he quit the band TWICE on them in the middle of tours. Then sold his rights off to the band in 1992. They resented him for leaving them hanging on tours in desperation to get a new drummer so they can fulfill their tour contracts so they can get paid. Then rubin had him come back on a salary while the rest of the guys were making less than dave was. So yeah... Its all Kerry, and Tom (sarcasm).. Also remember JEFF told the guys to fire him too while he was recovering from his injury.
Well... Kerry has NEVER even been the best guitarist in his own band
@@lukeknutson3191 damn that’s crazy. I saw them live in 91 and it seemed like they were firing on all cylinders. They blew away Megadeth and Anthrax that night.

Say what you want Lombardo is way better than Lars and if Metallica had Lombardo they would be way better
I don't know anyone in Slayer, much less their business dealings, but I've experienced something similar to what Dave talked about in a business venture I was part of a few years ago. This is a total guess, but let's put it this way, if a company is spending 90% of their earnings on "management fees" and two of the owners don't want to discuss it then chances are those two owners are part of the "management" that's getting paid the 90% fee.
There are three types of income in America: Earned, Investment, and Passive. With a halfway decent lawyer and accountant, and the right paperwork being filed, it's easy to convert earned income into tax deductible business expenses, investments, and passive income streams.
Kerry stating that he and Tom only made $114K each reminds me of how CEO's pay themselves relatively small taxable salaries each year and then take many times that in non-taxable stock options, or convert investments into passive income streams that's taxed at a much lower rate.
Dave just removed himself from that inner circle by quitting the band years ago. When he found out what was happening to the money, he was told to STFU and leave. Again, I'm just taking a wild guess.
Sounds right though
Yes, I had similar thoughts. Some shell corporate scheme, then stonewall any questions.
This is my absolute favorite channel. Thanks for always hooking us up.
Blessed to have seen Slayer twice in their original line up.
Gotta say Dave is probably the best Drummer ive ever listened to and ive been to hundreds of shows over the years.
Especially in the Metal realm there is almost nobody that has that kind of groove.
He is playing so fast and powerfull yet at the same time his playing feels laid back and cultured. Simply stunning.
Just saw Dave with Testament and he is a beast and he’s so fluid in his playing he almost looks bored back there.
Absolutely love Slayer and one of the reasons for that love and one of the reasons they are so great is simply because of the drumming. When the other fellas in the band are making five and six times of what you're making and you're working just as hard if not harder you're going to want to say something.... Imagine being fired from a band you helped start for not being an equal part.
Dave belongs in Testament, a far superior group that respects his work. I was so happy when I heard he finally came on board with them and I'm sure Chuck and Alex are thrilled to have him as well.

The music industry ripping off bands. Bandmates ripping off each other. A tale as old as time.
Everybody hates on Kerry King - and yes he deserves it - but Tom Araya always gets a free pass and I'm not so sure he deserves that. It's a lot easier to rip on Kerry, but he wasn't the only one in the band who was screwing Dave Lombardo out of money.
I'm 58, have seen Slayer numerous times. Dave Taught Me how to be a Super Heavy Drummer. Every album pushed Me to want to be better. I'm VERY Thankful for this Man.

Every drummer has bad days.
I see clips of him regularly and there’s not a single thing sloppy… he plays those 16th notes with all that power so there wouldn’t be any hiding any sloppy notes… I’m a drummer myself and I don’t think I could names drummer tighter and more on time than Lombardo
I just watched Dave play with Testament on the Bay Strikes Back tour…he’s an animal! One of the greatest drummers I’ve ever seen play

How was the drumming that gig? The double bass
As can be said of most band the original lineup IS the band. Seeing or hearing a live show or studio album with those 4 playing their songs is magical. But hearing Dave play, whatever the music makes me want to bang my hand to the verge of not caring if it breaks or not. And he is my personal favorite drummer, bias fully admitted. Catching his drumstick at a 2010 show is a valued collection piece.
Why do bands break up?
More like how do bands stay together?
The struggle is real!!
Araya quit. He was tired of touring since long time ago... Slayer without him is not Slayer. Never you will see Araya on tour again. The guy was sick of touring. Any struggle in the band with Jeff, Tom and Kerry even with Bostaph.
Hey fellow Canadian, your a good journalist man.
I believe Dave's story 100%. He's such a down to earth guy and king is just so egotistical that it makes sense.
A band's drummer is vastly underappreciated. If it was not for the drummer, a great band could suck, so it's about time drummers are seen as the heart of the band that keeps the whole thing together and they should be paid accordingly. Without a drummer, you don't have a band.
Basically you could make more money being a plumber than drumming for slayer
Yup. The plumber gets to go home to his family every night. Sounds like some or all the guys in Slayer were/are getting royally screwed.
Artists get ripped off so bad. I’m seeing it for myself now that my channel is getting well-known. These companies all want shit for free and I’m not about it
Dave Lombardo was, and is still, my hero. I and all of my friends in SF spilled blood at Slayer gigs in the Bay Area in the 80's. Leaving every show bleeding was a badge of honor.
As a drummer, Dave Lombardo really has no equal. A living legend.
Slayer was the sum of the core group of guys. When Dave wasn't there anymore, I pretty much lost interest. The difference in sound was obvious, and wasn't good.
Slayer screwed Dave 🎃
No money and lawyer screwed the whole situation.

David Lombardo hands down one of the greatest drummert of all time!
My opinion is that it shows what kind of people they are when the fired Lombardo, and Jon dette bailed them out. Then kicked him to the curb. No thanks or gratitude there. Jon Dette was and still is a beast on the drums and was a closer fit than bostaph.

Dave is a beautiful man and knows his worth. The rest of the bad are sell outs
Dave Lombardo and Gene Hoglan are my two favourite metal drummers of all time
I've seen both Dave and Paul Bostaph play with Slayer. Both were fantastic. I liked the Dave show better, mainly because it was a better venue and a better tour and setlist.
Incredible drummer, a machine that groove and swing even if the song is fast.
An absolute beast and a really lovely man. The guys selling T Shirts made more than Dave, really makes you think.
I'll be seeing Dave this Halloween with ST and John 5. I've seen him before and he kills it!
Lombardo is one of the greatest thrash drummers of all time, there was never any reason to screw him over, or to let a bunch of suits rob the band as a whole - not very metal at all.
A lot of artists get ripped off, usually because they are young, desperate, and will sign anything to advance their career. Sometimes it can take years to escape a bad contract.
I'm not a big Slayer fan or a drummer (eternal rhythm guitarist lol) but I admire Dave's drumming. South of Heaven especially has impressed me for years, especially the slow build from the quiet cymbals to the faster, heavier part. I hope the bands he's currently with are working out better for him!
The drums in Spirit in Black and War Ensemble tho. OMG
The new Dead Cross album comes out tomorrow Dave's on it
Lombardo and seasons in the abyss are masterclass
One of the best drummers of all time. The real magic of Slayer. I can’t even explain how amazing he is and every Slayer show i’ve seen with him was like on my top 10 shows. (the best Slayer show was the American Carnage tour). Every time he plays Raining Blood or any song in particular, you can feel the power that is his double bass. I just seen him with Testament this year at NYC and it’s like damn he hasn’t lost anything. He’s still as good as when I first saw him with Slayer. If you didn’t see Slayer with Dave then you truly missed out. One of the best bands i’ve ever seen. FUCKING SLAYER!!!
Dave Lombardo Is An Amazing Drummer No One Can Touch Him! Testament Is So Lucky To Have Him❤
Lol, 100k per year in one of the biggest thrash bands ever. Yeah, I'd say ALL the guys in slayer are getting ripped off.
I was 14 in 2012 when I first saw Slayer. I became a huge fan.
Then months later they fired Dave Lombardo and I couldn’t believe it.
I was a big drummer at the time ( I play guitar more now) and I was so upset they fired Dave Lombardo.
Even at that age I knew Dave wasn’t lying and I never went to see Slayer after that because that whole situation left a bad taste in my mouth.
I still love listening to them and the first 5 albums but I can’t get over this situation.
He's a really awesome fit in testament
Bruh, makes no sense to me why the rest of Slayer was so complacent with getting thumbs up their asses for little pay.
But Dave was the bad guy?
Good on Dave for providing his drumming to many other iconic bands.

I met Slayer in a hotel lobby. Tom was on a payphone (yes that's how long ago it was) and the other guys were waiting in the lobby. They were all cool and said a quick hello
What is that "session work' video clip?? haha
Lombardo used to live in my city(victorville). Wonder if he still does?
Show No Mercy came out 40 years ago this year. 1983 . Man, I started listening to Slayer in 1985. 38 years . Dave deserved better that’s for sure. A co founder member should be paid like one. On the plus side every band that Dave is in sounds 100% better with him behind the drum kit. He kills it at every gig.
full support to Dave, always
Dave was phenominal playing with the Misfits at MSG!
I played with Dave and his band Philm at a dive bar in Allentown. His chops on a 4 piece are excellent. My brother said "We just saw you in 2010 with Slayer", and Dave replied, "Oh, I'm so sorry." Lmao
Dave is also in Dead Cross!
Dave is still busy and super sought after! The rest of the guys…….na. That says it all. Dave is one of my biggest influences as a drummer and I’m 49 years old!
The new dead cross just came out. It's amazing
Grip Inc. was such a killer band. Dave rulz imo 🤘🏻
i saw dave play with Suicidal in 2019. IMO, he completely changed that band. They sounded so much better with him.
Dave Lombardo is a fuckin beast of a player and a stand up dude. The money trial would tell the story.
Dave also played on south of heaven, seasons in the abyss and Christ illusions.
Seasons was my introduction to Slayer. I was 13 and learning drums at the time and I was blown away.
I just saw him with the misfits. He's amayyzing . And my fav. Drummer
My favorite Slayer is anything with Dave drumming!!
Dave seems like a stand up guy, Kerry on the other hand idk I get a weird vibe from him. Must be the crazy goatee.
No I have spoken to a few friends of mine meeting saying king's a ASSO..
@@miguelcruz2682 Mmmhhhm!!
@@miguelcruz2682 yeah that's what I expected.
Being aware of the whole scene back then I was definitely convinced that Slayer we're never paid their due
Slayer STILL slays me! 🖤🧡🖤🧡
But I think Sodom are heavier
I've seen Slayer multiple times with Paul and he is a great drummer but they just lose a certain feel when he's playing.
Exactly. Especially during the super fast parts, the sound would get a bit loose at times with Paul.
Dave was always 100% locked in, always hitting the transitions.
Just a phenomenal drummer.
@@cmfranklin1079 Lombardo was struggling too and he was not always on point. Decade Of Agression is not a great performance by Lombardo. In Big4 tour he was on point. On the final tour Bostaph was really on point too. Bostaph got better hands and creativity, but Lombardo win on the foots department.
@@davidmorneau5260 I love the hell out of Bostaph. I feel confused sometimes when I read criticism of him as if he was " just that other guy".
My God did that dude have an interesting signature tension, especially in the slower tracks.
GEMINI at the end of UNDISPUTED ATTITUDE leaves it all on the table.
Should of stayed with Jon Dette
@@davidmorneau5260 Lombardo was by his own admission having issues around the time he left the first time. But when he "filled in" in 2003 or so before he rejoined again he was a monster and every time I saw them after that was insane on the kit. Lombardo has a vibe, groove, whatever you want to call it. Slayer sounds different with him on the kit. With Bostaph honestly to me it sounds like anyone else. YMMV of course.
Dave's fiery playing in Fantomas is freakishly unfathomable.
‘The godfather of double bass’ actually no, the true godfather of double bass would be Phil Taylor from Motorhead, he pioneered double-bass, or double-kick in his work with Motorhead, which inspired the "Big Four" thrash metal bands.
Grip Inc. was a killer band, that Lombardo started in 1993. Check them out.
Dave was a big part of why I went to a Slayer show. don't get me wrong the whole band rocked but Dave's drumming made the show.
Hell yea, I HAD to see wtf he was doing on certain licks
