  • I'm the Evil Ted who makes props and costumes. I’ve worked on Star Trek Into Darkness, Walking Dead, Fifth Element and Guyver, among lots of others. I've made pretty much everything out of every material, but foam is my favorite.
I'm here to share my skills and shortcuts, and help you learn how to make foam costumes and props, too.

You are the absolute “man” when it comes to this. However, while you don’t need it because your seams are so good, as a noob I have found you can sand down Kwik Seal with 1000 grit sandpaper and it makes it very smooth prior to applying your base/primer coat (bounce, mod podge, etc). Thank you for your videos. They are insanely helpful!

what i really like about these videos, besides the great information, is the fact that the mundane bullshit is skipped. a lot of guys would make this an hour long video, showing you in real time literally paint drying.

Ted. I have practiced your build a helmet out of foam, 1-2-3 and it was very helpful. I have made steel armor for film before and specialize in leather. I thought I would let you know I have written this up in a 5 day 90 min a session lesson plans. hopefully if kids sign up I will be teaching this for free at a children's art workshop. 12 years of age to 18.. This should be fun. You inspired me to move to foam and not steel. saved me hours, my ears and loads of sweat. every kid i show will have a power point featuring you, and the links will be shared with them. I am spreading your love.

I downloaded a Deadpool mask and was able to construct the mask. I had some problems with the seams being a little too obvious for my tastes. I watched how you fill your seams with Quickdry Silicon. I still wasn't pleased with the results. Then a guy from the U.K. turned me onto Smooth On products. I have to say, The XTC-3D product, took my mask to a whole new level. I did a test run with the product on some scrap foam. It came out beautiful. This stuff fills seams and you can put it on thin with some alcohol or just put it on as thick as you want. It is a semi-rigid Urethane which is designed to go on top of 3D printables. This stuff sands beautifully. I am so very pleased with all of the information you and your compatriots have provided. All I can say is Thank you, Thank You, Thank You.

The video was great, thank you. I'm a total neophyte and I know where to get patterns for what I want to make (Destiny armor) but not the faintest clue how to go about it. I plan on watching more videos and have definitely subscribed and 'likes'.

Thanks for making these videos! I am currently attempting my first cosplays (going to SDCC in July), making armor for my wife and myself. I am excited at how well the techniques work, and how easy it is to adapt them to different projects. Doing my best to shop through your links. Please keep the videos coming.

Thx so much Ted. I love your videos and was stoked to see this one pop up. My seams have been improving the more and more I craft but this is def gona help. Only wish plasti-dip wasn't so crazy expensive in the U.K.

Nick Wooderson Thank you. You can use rubber latex instead, if it's cheaper.
