My Mum had passed away a few weeks before this. I watched this game with my Dad, at home. We jumped for joy and hugged each other when that drop goal went over. The first time we had smiled in a long time. Sport really can be great. Thanks for the upload 👍
The balls on Johnny to go for that kick to Earlsy with the clock in the red. No better man to field the kick either. Nearly 5 years on, my heart still races watching this
As a french, this drop goal was devastating, but it was a great game and a big finish. 41 phases without any mistakes, the great Sexton assuming his statue has a legendary player, the french defense... When I'm watching it now, I smile because it is a beautiful rugby moment and a beautiful win for Ireland. Respect for you Irish people, hope we'll face each other in the RWC 🇫🇷🫶🇮🇪
I was at the match in Paris - it was of the most extraordinary sporting events I've ever witnessed - the tension was unbearable - the French crowd were singing Allez Les Bleus thinking victory was theirs - Ireland were not giving up as they went through phase after phase knowing one error and it was all over - it seemed to go on for an eternity - then that one opportunity finally arrived for Sexton to launch a long range drop goal effort - up high in the air it went and the whole crowd held its breath - it was heading for goal and finally dropped over the cross bar with inches to spare - the ecstatic reaction from the Irish fans in the stadium was an absolute outpouring of joy - The French fans were stunned into silence - What an epic finish and Ireland would go onto win the Grand Slam beating England at Twickers on St Patrick's Day in the snow - Brilliant memories all round.
With all the options open to Sexton, he went for that drop goal, it was a do or die moment, the courage it took to even attempt such a kick knowing if you missed you lost the game. This is why Sexton will always be remembered, and in 2022 he is looking better than ever after overseeing a series win in New Zealand
If anybody is wondering why the Irish are doing so well at the moment just look how many of that team are in France. Ireland's continuity is exceptional.

Even before the drop goal; to get through 41 phases of play without any handling errors was nothing short of amazing. Still get goosebumps!!!

The discipline from both sides is absolutely incredible.
for France to defend like that for 41 phases is pretty impressive
Rip Eddie Butler 💔🎙️🏉 6 Nations Won't Be The Same Without Eddie Butler & His Iconic Voice
Has to be the most disciplined spell of rugby and a monster drop goal to seal it, absolutely fantastic

Even though I know the result my heart is still in my mouth with every pass
I'm here after the game that just happened. To think a drop goal was all we needed to win again

Now THAT'S how to play the game!
The Welsh commentator clearly didnt want Ireland to win. Ireland didnt steal the game they won the game the hard way.
The epitome of never give up. This will and has gone down as a real sporting highlight of all time!
