I absolutely love this Chery iCar 3. This thing has the potential to be the best selling car in the world period!
Ahhhhh, how I wish I could buy this vehicle here in the US. Even if it was subject to the 25% tariff, I would still buy it. Forget about the >100K USD Rivian. One of the reasons why many middle class Americans haven't been willing to buy an EV, is the rather expensive price for those that are available in the US. American politicians HEAR THIS, if American anufacturers cannot produce EV's competitively and economically, please let the Chinese EV OEM's in!
They are all tone deaf, and beholden to the UAW and oil industry.
Chery is already selling well in Turkey, Mexico, South Africa, Russia, ASEAN. They coming out with crazy EVs Huawei collaboration Luxceed, Exceed Sterra ES and ET and icar!
300 up not a glorified golfer maybe weed eater engine HA
This one’s for me 😊
Wow even Russia? That’s cool EVs for everyone
I love the practical features of this car. I don't like the styling but I could swallow that. Practicality and price are what count for me. I would buy this car if it were available to me.
This is like the Jimny, which is super popular in Asia and Middle East. Even in Dubai, where cars tend to be huge beasts with gigantic engines. They handle well off road, really well in sand. Not about going fast and thus the boxy hsape is less of an issue. In small cities and some "rural" areas next to cities (like deserts in Dubai/UAE/Arab world).
This iCar seems on the money!
Since the first time you have told us about Chery iCAR 03 few months ago, i'm convinced i need this car only. I really love the overall concept of the EV & it's very affordable for me.
Hence, no longer interested in Tesla & BYD!
Looks good for tall people, great to see this new generation of more affordable EVs.
Yea , looks good and it has good price ..IN CHINA. Do you live in China ? coz if not this car doesn't concern you at all. You wont be able to buy it ever or - if , definitely not for 19 k may be in range 30-40 k
I will certainly put this car on the list of EV car that I will check out to buy for next car in 2024 in Melbourne.
It's a winner! Not for me but for all those who like driving tanks.
I like driving tanks. I used to drive an M-47, and it was a blast.
This probably won't make it to the US but it will scare the shit out of US and Euro Car Makers. Looks like an amazing bargain for the money. I wonder
if the Solar panels really contribute or are just enough for parking drain.
OMG its a killer. love it.
$19,400 in China - Great! Now we should wait until it is available outside China to find out what the markup will be: 40% - 50%? Mind you, even at $30k, I'd be interested.🙂
Love it! I'd buy one today.
And THAT is exactly why you can’t get it.😢 protectionism is at play here
Yessss, more a global player than the Cyber truck!!!!
So it’s around the same size as the Atto 3!! But it looks ginormous!!
Wow, amazing! Jeepers, there will be a lot of car companies swallowing hard seeing that! I want one!!
Excellent car.
This car would sell very well in the USA for 35k. So many features, so practical, fun colors. Amazing what competition creates, and nobody has more competition than anywhere else when it comes to cars.
However when Chery goes overseas, their prices go way up! In Brasil for example the iCar (A teenie weenie EV) costs 120k Reais, which is 25k and only goes 200km, and so this vehicle would be USD 35k in Brasil.
It sounds like just what I'm looking for here in Colorado. I just wonder how much more it will cost in the USA. Because foreign-made EV's never sell in the USA for anywhere near the price stated in the promo. It seems like it's always about 30 or 40% more. That's a lot more than the cost of shipping them to the USA and the import duty charge. If I lived in China I'd buy one in a heart-beat. But I'll just wait to see the actual price in the USA. I'm guessing it will be $35k.
I would definitely purchase this vehicle over any other in any price range let alone what you have noted, as you said, the car manufacturer would be able to sell millions.
Dont like boxy cars, but for that price Id try it,bring it to Canada 😊
Fantastic progress. Great car.
For a box car I like this one.
❤ Beautiful Car 🚗
Lovely explanation Always.

Thanks 🙏
So, solar panels would add about 3 miles/day in range. For somebody like me (I typically drive 6-10 miles a day), that means on most days I would use only a few more miles than the panels add. I could easily go 4-6 weeks without plugging into a charger.
Love this car!
Real nice for the price! Wow
The price for the loaded version is much cheaper than most electric electric SUVs.
It could really be a compelling electric SUV in a number of markjets.
It one of your subscribers buys one you should ask them to do a review for you so you can pass it on to channel members.
I WOULD TRY ONE
Looks good!
looks good
Thanks
Welcome
Looks great I would like to have one.
Boxy like my 2010 Honda Element, the best car I have ever owned! Finally someone has heard the cries of Element lovers who were so dismayed when Honda discontinued making them in 2011. Element reincarnated to the EV world!
Definitely a winner. I'd buy one if available in California.
I'd say it's a winner cheers mate
Cracking car for the price
5 star ancap rating and a 750kg tow weight, and I'll take 2 of them please.
I would buy one as a second vehicle in Oz
Jaecoo J6 possibly headed to Australia. I am crossing my fingers.
It looks great to me, Sam
I want one
Does not matter who owns it best is customer gets something better for economical price as taxes are everywhere
Converting those numbers to A$ and actually getting it here and for sale on the Australian market would price it from around A$40k to low A$50's I would think. More realistic numbers but still pretty compelling for what you seem to get. I'm just not sure that I would ever want to own a car branded Chery.
it would be a fun daily driver like a FCB Bao 3
I will buy🤔😎
When does it arrive in Oz?
Solar panels is a waste. If you park in the sun all the time it's going to take more energy to cool battery pack and cabin before getting in the car. Not to mention it's bad for paint and components
Sam, is there any sign this is coming to Australia?
I’m sure it would never make it to market here in the US.
Sure won't. If it did. The US government would lay a tariff on it so high, it would end up costing $45k or more. Bcoz we have nothing in America that competes. By 2024 there won't be any new cars in America selling for 20k or less. There is only one now, the Mitsubishi Mirage.
Not a negative. Actually really positive.
I feel like they have the components of a real winner there, but they just need to tweak the styling, battery size and suspension to western audiences.
We owe a tesla model y and an mg zs ev. I'd consider one of these to replace the MG if it comes to Australia for a reasonable price and if it has towing capacity.
That's 3.4 miles per day if I did the math right. I really like it. I could camp in that.
Do you know the length for sleeping with the back seat folded down?
What's the range for the small battery version? The cheap version?
Do you have an Aptera solar electric car video?
I have a 600 mile camping version on order and they say it can charge up to 44 miles a day. I also bought 500 shares.
Thanks for another great video.
He has no video on the Aptera because there are no Aptera's. It's all smoke and mirrors. There are no cars for sale. There is no production line turning them out and shipping them to buyers. All there is is promo hype, and that's all there has ever been.
Winner winner chicken dinner . love to see it in oz
Aptera is also planning to sell car with solar panels. They estimate starting prices under $30K. One downside is that it is only 2 seater.
2 seater is great how many people drive around by themselves or with 1 passenger 99% of the day?
Are you serious omg🎉 How dear God it's almost free. Lol. USA would sell at $30,000. Kia looking 5. Winner
Even if the solar panels are enough to maintain the battery state of charge it would be a step in the right direction.
That price is about $30k AUD. Bring it to Australia, jack the price up to $50,000 and they'll still sell a bajillion of them. I bet they don't though, they never do. 😢
You have this Blue bicycle growing out of your neck in a lot of these segments. You might want to go get it looked at see if they can remove it
For me, price is the biggest impediment. Range is not really an issue for a daily car, although it is for my courier work. Once they are price competitive, there will be a "tipping point" and ICE powered cars will vanish. Well, they will get dumped in Aus for low prices when they can't be sold elsewhere, but after that..
Could it charge on Tesla network?
This Chery would sell great in the USA, if it had NACS. The whole problem is that with 500 Km of range, you still need to charge on long trips. CCS just doesn't cut it.
I bet that's why I said it came up to 10,000 truck for the Asian market
looks great but let's be honest, at that price there must be some very worrying corner's cut somewhere. Not sure that front end would pass Encap regs regarding passenger collision. One has to question the quality of steel / aluminium and of course, the battery chemistry.
I love it, but..too many red flags that need to be addressed.
This is interesting. Solar panels coupled with a smaller battery packs means you can potentially reduce weight and extend range. It would be more interesting with a removable pack though. Overall and little by little, weight might come down to reasonable levels. No. It’s not for me.
Is that an ICE I see at 5:55?
Winner - when do wesee it in Oz
Is it a Chinese version of the Suzuki Jimny?
would Honda or Toyota able to build something like this on that price range? doubt it... How would toyota and Honda will exist in 2030???
Elon Musk explained the uselessness of solar power on cars. 1360 watts per m² radiation*.25 conversion for best panels*.25 nameplate rating based on location, hours of direct sunlight per day, and then that you can only fit about .5 m² on a car gives you a trivial amount of usable energy if you keep it outside all day.
Nah, Sam, China owning the lion share of the world's auto industry is great for the world. China deserves it more than anyone else because they had the innovation, vision, foresight, and long-term discipline to carry out their goal. China being the overall world leader instead of America is probably the best news of the century.
Excellent irony 😂 keep fishing with that top shelf sarcasm
Completely agree with you. The old guard in the west didn’t invest in EV early however China did.
Look at all the mugs that want to live in a deindustrialised Western World wallowing in poverty while China makes everything and Rolls around in money, all the losers that watch this channel are as thick as Viking.
if you would be racist, at least explain why (as you said) it's not so good or do you just blindly say whatever you hear from the American media which is afraid of competition from China.
If you think I'm being sarcastic, you are 100% dead wrong. China is correctly obsessed with development, upgrading and innovating up the value chain. Kudos to China! To anyone else who hides behind tariffs and "national security" bullshit excuses, their fate is doomed.
Will this be available in theUSA?
nope
Cheap and affordable meaning 40K+ in the US. Plus taxes.
Yeah just wait until the Aussie importers get a hold of them, they will add huge markups to the price like everything else.
Cheaper than gwm tank ice
but... will we ever see them here in the u.s.?? prolly not... because it is JUST what we all need to go ev.,.. initial cost!!... but... the service, if needed?
Chery Tiggo 7 is on sale at 40k to 46k as a conventional SUV ICE car. The icar 3 is much more serious as an AWD and I imagine they’ll charge aud 60k
If Tiggo is the standard, prepare for something with no resale value and not great build quality. These are lease cars as you don’t want the problems 4/5 years later….
When it arrive Ausi, 39999!
Plus GST plus delivery charge !
What I would like to know foremost, is the chances of the battery catching fire. Edit: I have always hated boxy looking vehicles, but, I really like it.
They are less prone than their lithium ion counterparts. So if current EVs are 20x less likely to catch on fire than ICE, consider them in the region of 30x or better less likely to catch on fire.
@@colinwiseman Thanks
Great - IF range is true 😉
That’s in Dollars!! How about the dear old Pounds?
Today with current exchange rates multiply U.S. dollars by .79 . $19400 x .79 = $ 15,326 pounds sterling. Edit: I don't have a pound sign on my keyboard, hence the dollar sign.
You are showing pictures of the wrong car, this is bev, your pix show a fuel tank and ICE motor.
In China. Everywhere else $40,000 plus.
Plus Dealer Market Adjustment and Special Charges.
An electric car without solar panels is a waste of energy, especially in countries like Brasil.
Crazy cheap, but there must be a catch. What is wrong with this car???
Not available in USA. That's what's wrong with it.
If it's safe, I'll take one.
Why wouldn't it be safe?
@@colinwisemanare you kidding me?
@@jtt3346 if I told you a joke, maybe, but I asked a question. Why wouldn't it be safe?
@@colinwisemandifferent manufacturing and safety standards. That has been a genuine issue with Chinese cars. Doesn't mean they don't have it beaten, and I would also like to know how much it's going to cost to repair. I'm actually optimistic about that because modern US cars have become hideously expensive due to the large assemblies that have to come in and out of times now, Even if it's only one small part in the assembly.
The opening statement says it all. Superior products and/or value for money but it feels like we’re funding some messed up regime sorts. Hopefully they relent and get the human element right.
This car would sell like hotcakes in the US. All we need to do is get over our Chinaphobia and develop, design, and sell a competitive vehicle in the US. If there ever is an American made competitor to this one, it will probably be Tesla. The Big Three aren't interested.
Easy to understand . It's a c...p
What's crap about it? Have you driven it?
@undercoverscambaiter7252 calm down bro ! You seem OVERCHARGED !
@@ariseon4186 just as I thought. You know nothing about this car.
If China can produce car this cheap, why not let China build them and the rest of the world can benefit from this.
@@jprt3270 You are not talking straight. UK haven't had any commercial car industries, most of it are sold off and there are plenty of countries don't have car industry and their country income is either from tourism, agricultural products, oil, raw materials, services, education, etc..
Sell them through Bank of China instead of dealers.
Each China car company you mention are all “one of the largest EV companies in the world”😂
I have seen and drove into cheap Chinese cars. Aside from seatbelts (and sometimes only in the front), they have no modern safety features: no airbags, certainly no side airbags (even Honda does not include these in Taiwan), no stability control, no data on crash tests, no ABS, etc…
Sure, on export models they will comply to minimum requirements and thus maybe not sell the cheapest models.
I need to have a reason to like/trust GM first. I wouldn’t consider it if Mary Barra is still involved with GM!
Chery, not Chevy.
You rely on Mary Barra for info?
So far I've been happy with my Chevy EUV. I am older and after an accident, I decided I needed some kind of driver assist. So far the Chevy EUV has a good ride, excellent driver assist that is not oversold, relatively easy controls but it takes a little bit getting used to (haven't owned a car built before 2001 until this). The single pedal driving and regenerative braking, especially with the added regenerative braking with the steering wheel paddle, is very nice.
The only issue I have with the Chevy EUV is the charging rate, and due to degenerative spinal disease I suspect I'm never going to drive more than 2 hours at a time anyway. Also I have noticed that driving 70 versus under 60 probably kills about 10% of my range.
Icar iPhones is this a secret project of $AAPL ?!
It doesn't cost 19 400$ it cost 139,000 CNY since in China you cant pay with American dollars, and you cant buy it nowhere out of China and you never will ! (may be in some parts of Asia) Even is someone imports it then it will NOT cost 19 400 $ / EUR but double of that . These videos are literally pointless for your viewers , but may be majority of your audience is truly from China , what do i know ..
It's a made in China product and at that price, will be lucky if it lasts 5 years.
Chery is pretty reliable they ranked tops among chinese brands rating
I'm old enough to remember when Japanese cars were crap. Then Korean. Things change.
Ok, admit it, you read that as Chevy too folks. And how is that price done? Deficit financing LOL
I hate that this thing is Chinese.
I would buy one if it were a Tesla.
Yet your iphone is made in China 😂 see Living in China chanel or 808 chanel to see how advanced is that country, they make more EV s then anyone
whiners will always find something to whine whine whine about
