I used to hunt smallmouth buffalo in a spring fed swamp in southern Minnesota back in the 1970s. Granted, they were nowhere near as large as the monsters you were shooting. My mom thought they would taste like a common carp, but I convinced her that buffalo had nice white meat and showed her. We fried up a nice batch of buffalo for supper, and everyone in our family agreed that they were indeed very good to eat.

When I was little, our family used to catch these and my mom would can them. Better than canned salmon. She used to also bake some fresh with tomatoes.

I caught one around 40 pounds and 45 inches long on an ultralite spinning rig up in the UP of Michigan. 6 pound test and it took it all out. I landed it in about 30 minutes or so. From the bank of a river. Great battle for me.

Great fish man, those are buffalo not carp, so no need to call them Buffalo Carp. They are not even in the same family as carp and are 100% native. The ones you were shooting looked to be Bigmouth Buffalo but there are some buffalo species that are protected by law in certain states. Just a warning to bowfisherman to always be sure of what you're shooting. Great vid!

Hey Tim, Just stopping back in to get the blood flowing for this years spring run. Water is super high here in Iowa so It will be going down once spawning starts. We'll be loading up a 30' pontoon with bows, beer, and blowguns and heading out for the trifecta. Good luck to you this year.

awesome vid tim, what is your biggest carp? mine is a 45lb mirra carp up here in New England w a recurve zebco 808 and ams arrow. you should try something i think i invented called blowgun frogn. same blowgun as you but i put on a small reel on the end w 6lb test and i use the zytel tip broadhead darts. very fun, gimme a shout out if you do a vid on it

I wish I had a bow like that when I was fishing at my lake house last year. There was a school of atleast 10 to 15 carp right at the top of the water surrounding my pier. I have caught a few with a pole but the bow would of been fun. They are one hell of a fight
Hey Tim love watching your hunts ! Does that bow shoot deeper into the water than regular cam bows ? I'm really wanting an oneida because the lake I bow fish is clear and we can see the fish but they are often at 6-8 ft deep or deeper ?
