    I want to get the whole Hardin's Creek series as I think it's pretty neat that they aged the same stuff for the same amount of time in 3 different locations to see how differently it would turn out. Gonna be a tough ask and it's quite expensive on secondary.

    I happen to have moved to Louisville right when Bakers and Knob Creek were rolled out by Beam which made me a Beam fan straight away. We tasted Bookers at the distillery as well which (I think) came out a bit earlier. Those early visits (in my bourbon journey) to Beam & Makers has influenced me ever since.

  • @brianpara1407
    @brianpara1407 Před rokem +2

    I’m not the biggest fan of the Jim Beam products I’ve tried - Bookers, Knob Creek, etc. because of the nuttiness, but I picked up this Little Book the other day and was pleasantly surprised.

    • @WhiskyForBeginners
      @WhiskyForBeginners Před rokem

      It's weird - a lot of people say that nuttiness is characteristic of Jim Beam stuff, but I don't see it. Where I consistently get peanuts is whisky from Heaven Hill, and I get pecans from George Dickel No. 12.

    • @FakingANerve
      @FakingANerve Před rokem

      @@WhiskyForBeginnersI definitely most associate the "Jim Beam profile" with peanuts, but I could definitely also get some nuts from Heaven Hill products (J.T.S. Brown is quite nutty). I don't get any nuts from the Dickel lineup, though, but I definitely get a lot of disappointment.

    5:07 I've not found Beam stuff to be nutty, but Heaven Hill juice definitely gives me peanuts, and George Dickel No. 12 has a clear pecan note.
    8:03 Balcones Distilling is very idiosyncratic in giving the age - their Texas Pot Still Bourbon is a fair example: AGED AT LEAST 24 MONTHS IN OAK. But that math is easy. 🙂

    How about doing a head to head double blind with Russells single barrel picks and Russells 13 multiple batches is available too? People Want to know how the single barrels stack-up against the Russells 13 and if it can even beat it in a blind. 5-6 bottle total would be great for variety if possible.
    Keep-up the great content with Poppa Kirk.
