I have a few wyandotte hen's..I really enjoy them. The mother hen is a smaller bantam and a Japanese bantam rooster adopted them and are their flock family so I look forward to having hatching cross chicks this spring .and they are giving eggs now.. yesterday my neighbor asked if he could have some bantam eggs to hatch too , he has a bantam rooster that doesn't have any bantam hens and I find them good also and are good parents...it is good to have a broody hen to hatch eggs to grow your flock to sell or trade for things with other farmers...and helps everyone..
We actually just got our first ones. We got them for all three reasons eggs, meat and because they're noisy. With any luck they will drown out the neighbors. 😂 Thanks for all the great information.
Wyandottes are gorgeous birds!!! Towards humans they are super friendly but they will definitely stand their ground in a pecking order. Our BLR’s pick on our Easter egger rooster. Our silver laced are the sweetest! And probably the softest feathers on any shucked. Aside from a silky maybe. Chickens are awesome to keep and if you are thinking about it and you have the room, do it and you won’t regret it!
The blue laced red Wyandotte is the prettiest! Also the Partridge, and Pencil version of the Silver. Gorgeous hens. This video - the pics don't match the words, which is sad. You should label the colors on screen.
We raise Blue Laced Red Wyandottes on our farm in TX, and we are quite proud of the work we’ve put in to breed the best colors. We sell hatching eggs, check out our videos for details!
I'm surprised to hear that they get bullied after watching my Silver-Laced Wyandotte (the only one I've ever owned) clobbering my cat and both my roosters. Basically, none of my chickens mess with her, and they flee like a bunch of villagers running from Sauron himself whenever she gets annoyed.
I don't know why people keep aggressive cocks. They need to grace the stew pot! Get a gentle one. I have 14 Black-laced Silver Wyandottes. They are good layers -- 10 - 14 eggs daily. Right now they are doing 2 one day and 6 the next--lack of daylight and they are molting. I'm surprised to find people find them noisy. Mine are so quiet that my neighbor complained that she wasn't hearing chicken noises. We have a new Black Copper Marans cock, who is so sweet. He crows a few times at sunrise and then shuts up. When we got him, he scratched a lot. I just turned him on his back and dusted him with DE a few times. He's fine now. The girls adore him. I hope to have a hen go broody next spring and raise the cross.
We have 4 brave big Wyandott hens called Antje, Jutta, Luisa, Marie. It is an Enjoymend to work with them . They dig with me together in the garden. 😀 Jutta and Antje fought every Cats and Martens in the last Years. Ravens and Magpies eat with them togehther
We thank God for this day two baby chickens was born today we have four chickens and two roosters in two baby chickens May 22nd from David GP 🙏🇲🇽🇲🇽🇲🇽🇲🇽🇲🇽🇲🇽🇲🇽🙏🇮🇱🐣🐣🇮🇱🧐
Man, my Wyandotte rooster always tries to attack me at unpredictable occasions, he interacts with me and eats out of my hand, but sometimes all of a sudden a peck, I had to show him who’s the boss again, hope it works
Other than the fact that they're noisy, they seem perfect for most suburban backyards. Even with an acre of land, however, I'd be afraid of the noise they make. I have 8 Black australorps that are two weeks old. They're supposed to be very quiet.
QUESTIONS : Altho they are very pretty birds, + it is tempting to have them, due to their longevity, what exactly do you trim around their butts? Just where they may poop on themselves, or is where mites congregate? So, can you show a diagram of where they should be trimmed +how close to the skin? Doesn't this make them vunerable especially to cold winter's as well as odd looking? I've never heard of trimming a chicken's butt, as mentioned in the video. Please show examples of a trimmed +non trimmed chicken butt, so I can get a better idea where they will need to be trimmed, how often + why. Thank you for your diligence to these questions.
prob be better to just treat the pasty butt if it occurs (soak in a warm water and wipe off gently with a damp washcloth. As long as its not left on for a long time... should not really be a issue.
I have an 8 month old Wyandotte Rooster, he has never crowed yet, Is that normal are the Roos late crowers, or did I just get lucky, He's a big boy, at his prior home I think the hens pecked his tail feathers off, so he has no long tail feathers and never crows, .... maybe he's transitioning to a hen 😳
If you have an incubator you might be able to order some fertilized eggs in the mail. I know of people that do this from Europe for certain breeds that are rare in the US.
I don't blame you for wanting to get Wyandotte chickens in Ghana, Africa. But I was wondering if it might not be too hot for them in Ghana. They are known for their heavy feathering which is why they do so well in the cold Northern states here in the U.S. I live in the state of Georgia in the U.S., and I too would love to own Wyandotte chickens. But I have not purchased any Wyandotte chicks, even though they are readily available to me through several reputable hatcheries. Because I fear it is too hot and humid for them, here in the Southern U.S.
I accidentally got hold of a silver laced Wyandotte rooster. He a beauty…….and mean. Lol. Well, he doesn’t hit me, I raised him from 3 days old. He hits my father in law every chance he gets, and he doesn’t like my 5 year old grandson when he is riding his 4 wheeler. Hahahaha. I would like to keep him and breed him with other wyandottes, not necessarily just with silver laced hens. If I got different variations of hens, what could I expect as far as “ looks” go? Any thoughts?
Sure thing! Mixing your Silver Laced Wyandotte rooster with different types of Wyandotte hens can give you chicks with a mix of cool patterns and colors. You might get chicks with silver and gold patterns, some with blue and red touches, or even lighter colors like buff. It's like a surprise box... you don't know exactly what the chicks will look like until they hatch. It sounds like a fun experiment!

I have 10 Wyandotte chicks and they're very vocal and outgoing .
Wyandottes have very thick plumage and fair very good in cold climates but struggle in hot humid areas .
Very good to know. Not for me when I move to Florida.
fyi - FARE, not FAIR.
They are amazing. I have seen the silver laced and badly want one. I have 4 Gold Laced and they are some of my favorite hens.
i have six they are so pretty

Very interesting! Great info. Gorgeous birds! 🎉

Great bird
It seems that there was a confusion on the identity of your breed on a couple of occasions where you show a Sebright cockerel instead of a Wyandotte!
I thought they were the same thing
A Sebright was one of the breeds used to create the Wyandotte
Thank you very much.I adored this bread. When I retire I will definitely use them as pets. Are they very expensive?
Kakia Pascalis.
The blue laced red is my favorite

That's fantastic! Blue Laced Red Wyandottes are really stunning, and it sounds like you've done amazing work with them.
Wouaou !! Wonderful ! Superbes poules. J'habite en France. Puis-je en trouver en France ? Merci. Bonne soirée. Good evening. Thank you.

My SLW girls gave me a beautiful rooster, he is So handsome and sweet natured. If only he would crow 🐔

Do the hens go broody and raise chicks?
My SLW laid the eggs, and the Bovan Brown sat on the eggs and hatched them 🤗
My silver laced wyandotte rooster is nasty he tries to attack me every day i just catch him and pin him to the ground for a minute
My Rhode Island Red was like that. Broke his spur off in my arm. I gave him away 😳
So far my Wyandotte rooster is sweet and good natured, but won't crow 🤔
I have a bule womentote
My Wyandottes are rotten! One in particular likes to boss the other hens around. They are cute though.
I am from Ethiopia how can I get
Yeah where do you buy them
I have a silver laced Wyandot. She is very mean girl to my Brown leghorn I'm trying to introduce thru a fence face to face
How do I get pure blue laced red Wyandotte to Africa (Ghana)?

Your videos give good information but the audio is terrible. Robot voice is a turnoff.
You can read the articles from our website with your own voice if it's such a turnoff.

Whynot Wyandotte 😂
Do roosters have large combs? And are they aggressive?
Yes and Yes
