    I bought 4 Australorp Pullets,8 Buff Orpington Pullets,13 Cornish Cross Meat Birds on July 3rd 2021. They all live,run, play,eat,roam together Free Range Style and believe it or not they all do well together considering the meat birds look more like the size of a large Thanksgiving Turkey at this age but, we should be receiving eggs in the next few weeks. The Buff Orpington Pullets were all considered "Rare" they sure are extremely Beautiful and very colorful and 2 of them have what looks like "Mohawks" on their heads!
    If we can keep all the predators away then we'll be great shape. Considering they've already been attacked by a Chickenhawk, a Fox, a Coyote in a 2 week time span.
    Sincerely: Stephens Motorsports

    This is at least the third video where I have seen comments about these chickens being very friendly and make great pets that makes me laugh. I have a taller one and a shorter one and both of them like to bully my three new chickens especially the short one.
    They do not like to be picked up they will make you chase them. Do not put baby chickens near them they will mess with them.

    • @eddieandrews3854
      @eddieandrews3854 Před 2 lety +2

      You can never add young chickens to any older flock. The older hens will bully and peck them. They have to be mixed slowly in proximity but with separation, including the first introduction being the roost. For some reason, hens that roost beside new hens, after the proper proximity with separation, acclimate with less brutality.

      You can cross them. They can make a nice bird to eat since they’ll be bigger than the australorps. Color wise they will be kind of odd. The buff color will show in patches on the black but that can be kind of interesting.

    I don't know where you are getting your information from but you are giving anyone watching this video a bum steer... Australorp's are well know as a very broody breed, why do you think that Australian egg farms won't use them anymore, add to this they are a jealous breed that only lay 3-4, "medium" eggs per week as the commercial strains are virtually non-existent these days.
    Australorp's are not a good breed for the novice beginner like everyone on the internet keeps saying, I have met experienced chicken keepers that are sorry that they got Australorp's and chicken breeders that won't even keep the things on their property so a novice will be at their whits end with these birds. If you enjoy having your nesting boxes filled up with broody chooks while the others are making a fuss trying to get into a nesting box and having them constantly picking on any bird that won't stand up to them and having them getting into fight's with a higher pecking order bird because they got jealous of something, then go for it get some Australorp's otherwise there are a lot of better breeds out there.
