    When I lived off grid in the mountains in Montana, we always kept jars of garlic fermenting in honey through the winter. Perfect when you feel sniffles or a cold coming on. Great video! Thank you.

    We are long term garlic growers and beekeepers in central Ontario. I wanted to say how much I enjoyed your video and how great it is that you reply to comments and questions. You are a real educator. One thing that I wanted to mention is that honeybees don't (as far as I know) pre-digest the pollen. When foraging they store it in pockets on their back legs and simply pack it into the cells, covering it with honey to make the "bee bread" that is fed to their brood. The reason to buy local honey aside from supporting a neighbor is that it contains traces of pollen that gives you hay fever or allergies locally. Try to find a beekeeper with between 100 and 1,000 colonies. That means that they are scientific enough to maintain healthy hives but are not on an industrial scale. (Just my opinion) Keep up the great work.

    Omg yes I’ve do this especially during the winter months and I can’t tell you how long it’s been since I was sick. I went to Alaska one year and was stuck at a lodge where the nearest town was an hr away. Almost everyone got sick. I was one of the few employees that didn’t. The rest of us did this and acv with lemon & cayenne. I still vouch by it. 💕 hope this helps anyone else curious.

Next month I'm going to make a whole gallon so there will be plenty for the whole family but I'm going to use the peeled garlic from Costco because it is a lot of work to make it with fresh garlic from the Farmers Market. Been on a script of antibiotics for it, which I hate to take. Days after finishing the medicine, swelling, pain, redness returned...with a vengeance! Honey used to be poured over an open wound and bandaged - changed often and this kept infection away. Same with sugar. We don't have to use these drastically old fashioned methods but eating this stuff can help keep bacteria and viruses at bay. I just made a batch of honey and garlic and can't wait to start eating it. I'm going to make batches for my neighbours and friends once I taste my batch to make sure it tastes ok, and that I have the process down right.

    I am curious about your thoughts on the allicin. Yes, I make honey fermented garlic which is definitely a good thing to have on hand for colds and flu. But I also add raw garlic to many of my foods for the allicin. Allicin is one of the most anti-cancerous foods out there.

  • @Imwright720
    @Imwright720 Před 6 lety +3

    My hives are 30’ from me. About as local as it gets. All honey is not equal. Lots of bee keepers feed their bees corn syrup. You end up with honey that’s tastes okay but is mostly corn syrup. Notice how thick your is, because it’s real. The corn syrup makes it runny. Locate a backyard beekeeper and get ready for the best honey you’ll ever taste. You’ll never go back.

    Good morning, i just found your video the other day and am so excited about this process, my husband was eating the garlic raw with honey for health reasons---i think this is going to be MUCH better, lol. So, i have my garlic in my honey, day 2 now.... is it ok that i am opening the jar? Also, there are a couple of pieces of garlic that just won't stay submerged, is this ok or should i take those out and stop touching the jar? Thank you for sharing your wisdom, i love it!

    • @BetterDoneYourself
      @BetterDoneYourself  Před 5 lety

      Just give it a good shake to submerge the garlic again after you open it. The worst thing that will happen is that you'll get a little mold. Turning the jar over will keep the mold from getting a foothold and growing.
