Love watching your reaction to these kids. I only wish more people shared your passion for music instead of needing "vocals" to enjoy music. They really were more the Metal and Hard Rock with Jazz fusion when Hal-Ca was 11 through 17. Now after High School they have gone full throttle fusion experimental and progressive seeking to play way beyond their normal (if anything about this band could ever be considered normal) grooves. Now that Amuse talent has signed them I hope they get to open for more well known groups like BabyMetal as a way for them to get some real exposure. I still worry that Amuse may eventually try and saddle them with a vocalist so they have more widespread appeal. Regardless, anyone who appreciates real music will love these kids. Most Japanese musicians form bands in their early teen progress into their 20's where they really hone their craft and become LIVE musicians who survive the Japanese music arena (either you play great LIVE without any studio magic or you go home). These kids are just now entering that battle stage and so far ahead in their development. They truly are a mature band already. While Hal-Ca has the rock star stage presence and carries a lot of the work load Miyu and Mio are the backbone upon which she gets to excel. The fact all 3 are in total tune with the songs they write, arrange and play is amazing to me and they have been doing this since they were a band and she was 11!!! Between them and D_Drive instrumentally you will feel you are in music heaven. Yuki/guitar of D_Drive is a bada$$ as well, check out her doing painkiller (czcams.com/video/fo4lCKHhfmk/video.html) the song my guitar playing friend said made him finally fall in love with a perfect women (LOL).
Thank you…I have a love for instrumental because its alot of my daily music listening plus I play in a instrumental prog metal band so I understand the struggle of trying to get noticed…im adding d_drive to the list
@@rockdariff I offer the great studio version of Unkind Rain (czcams.com/video/m5G3nXJtSzQ/video.html) the guitar/bass work is wonderful and you see it clearly.
@@rockdariff I would suggest you do a full-album reaction to ASTERISM's recent album GUERNICA. You can find it on Spotify. It's a concept album about the bombing of the Spanish city of Guernica in 1937 by the German Nazi forces. HAL-CA said that initially, it was the painting of Pablo Picasso which moved her to conceive the concept of the new album, but if you read the story, you'll understand that the painting was only the starting point. The names of the songs in the album actually follow the sequence of events.
The Japanese metal scene is on fire thanks to a mandate that all students must have an art major to graduate High school. Check out Maximum The Hormone they have been a major influence on the Japanese metal scene. For over twenty years.
Initially, she reminded me of Zakk Wylde. I even told her so when I saw her two years ago in a Hard Rock Cafe in Fukuoka. I was in Zakk Wylde T-shirt, and I was pointing to it and saying, "You are pretty much like him." But she returned me a blank look. 🥴 Which is understandable. She is what she is, she is not like anyone else.
Great channel, good music & reaction. I subscribe. Please react to Monica Naranjo - Europa. She's amazing, one of the best female voices in the world. An incredible music metal /rock /opera. Greetings. Link 😎👇
No, she's HA-RU-KA. はるか Haruka Noma. She took this nickname, HAL-CA, to make it unique, so that people could easily find her. "L" and "R" is the same sound in Japanese, that's why. It's the same as with "cluppo." It's pronounced "kuruppo."
@@VladimirChupin Aha, thanks for the information. (I knew it was a nickname) It is a very short rolling 'R', with the tongue touching the top of the mouth only once. Hard to hear the difference between that and an 'L' if not brought up with it. There is no 'L' in Japanese, so they freely interchange those letters in their word games. Like 'Killer guitars' is named after Akira (Takasaki), the 'A' is hardly audible when said in a sentence, switch letters, and you get a killer name for a guitar.
They recently signed with the same label that handles Babymetal, so there is a good chance they will finally start getting some real promotion. It's funny you classify them as a jam band, because "Dawn" is actually heavily structured--if you listen to multiple versions of it you'll see. It's just not a conventional structure. The crazy thing is they have been writing their own stuff since she was 12 or so, and none of it is conventional or imitative. Oh, and you can slam the Dead any time, I think they are a vastly overrated, sloppy mess.
I just listen to alot of prog metal and play in a prog metal band myself….ill agree its structured but its still alot of lead work from her…sorta like a long solo to me
Love this band. The talent is unreal to me. Thank you for reacting to this video.
They remind me another Japanese band called D_Drive.
Loudness, a popular Japanese Metal band from the 80's-90's is a big influence on her. Try their early stuff like Rising Moon next.
Nice! Hal-ca & miyu🔥🔥🔥
Asterism top trio in my book.
Next asterism... Church

And they made a song about DBZ Frieza
Check out their 360 degree battle videos.
For a more extreme progressive trio, listen another Japanese band called Soko ni Naru.
That is a Yamaha Pacifica guitar. The tremolo appears to be a standard Yamaha tremolo for that guitar.
Haruka is a prodigy. Sometimes she reminds me of Dimebag. ( Her playing style. )
Yea I totally pick that up too

I catch HENDIX and EVH on some of her stuff too. She channels several legends it seems.

Don't know why, but it seems 'Hal-Ca' has to be pronounced as 'Hal-Tja'. I didn't know that either until recently.

@@5Melig Yes! "Kira" is a famous case in Engrish 😂
And I'm sure you use licks in your solos that others have used before you.
Yeaa all the time…all guitarists do
