- I left Akela in the Montana desert to take care of some much needed work in the Wisconsin north woods. An off grid winter is in the plans, which means preparing for the below zero degree weather is a must.

What I love most about those excited greetings are those scolding barks they work into the middle of them. “I’m happy you’re back but…don’t leave me again”.

Great video, especially love the authenticity you provide. Admitting that learning how to use a chainsaw was out of your comfort zone isn't what a lot of people providing content would put out there and I really really value that in your videos. Your content is original because it's completely authentic to you. Thank you for creating great content and sharing a portion of your life with viewers such as myself! PS when you mentioned you couldn't wait to see Akela and didn't mention Chris (not that you didn't miss him or said it intentionally!) But like that was just so funny to me because I relate so much!
As you left, I saw a small bottle hanging from your rearview mirror-I wondered if those were your dad's ashes? I love your mom (and dad, RIP). I hope that she is well following the loss of your dad! Akela looked well despite the separation. Dogs that are rescues, I think, struggle a bit more with anxiety when left since they have experienced being 'left'. She was so happy to see you! Totally enjoying your adventure. I hope to do something similar in a couple of years (once I retire). Thanks for the inspiration.

I knew when you left Akela would be just fine(not to down play your heart squeeze), Chris’s parting words and Kobuck companionship (those two are amazingly compatible!) ~And your mom and her wisdom, sweet uncle and brother, how lucky are you!

I felt sad for Akela when you left her but I know you left her in good hands. Your reunion was so sweet. She sure missed you, they both did lol your Mom and uncle were awesome cutting the wood. Those stumps your Mom was carrying looked heavy but she looks strong and capable. She raised a bad ass woman that can do anything. It looked like fun but hard work. Thank you for sharing ❤️🙏

I have a Pomeranian cross, he was my daughters but she had to give him up so we took the sweet little guy. He is 14 years old, we got him when he was 4, so living with us for the last 10 years. When ever my daughter comes for a visit it is just like that. He goes NUTS, running around and yelping, can't hold still.
Yup, he remembers his girl.
I go to the store and come home, he is at the top of the stairs with a big WooWoo.

When I read the title I almost thought Akela was sick again. Good to see her loving life and playing. Montana is so beautiful and the Elk are amazing. I'll be heading there in November, I wanted to drive my van out but time constraints say I'll be flying so I can spend more time with my dad and not driving from NY/work

It has the Sumos, but the lifts are really expensive. I see you go so many places easily and just wanted to know if you felt it was necessary for yours. Thanks!

You guys had quite the operation going there!! I had to learn how to use a chainsaw after a tornado took down 6 trees on my property in Tennessee in April 2011. They are terrifying (tornados & hainsaws)!! But very useful. :)

She doesn't! Akela is 100% german shepherd - but I have read that white ones are known to be quite vocal. She talks a lot! haha
Yep, Don’t forget to wear your gloves while cutting! Never cut above your head TOO
I cant believe I'm Watching someone operate a chain saw with exposed legs. OMG a disaster in waiting. Always ALWAYS!!!!! Wear chainsaw chaps! Chainsaws can and do kickback and can also throw a chain.
And in sandals… and no eye protection at the backyard learning time w bro… I mean, yikes!!
