I've only got a few on my shelf and I hope to acquire a few more. 😬 I am slowly working my way through the Shardlake series and I need to get back to it. You know, I downloaded Christopher Fowler's Full Dark House to my Kindle after hearing both you and Janelle talk about it. Father by Elizabeth vonArnim (1931) was a pleasant surprise when I was completing a personal challenge to read a book published every year in the 20th century. Hope you enjoy it too!
Some great finds Catherine! I’ve read one Freeman Wills Croft, The 12.30 from Croydon which I enjoyed and I really enjoyed Father too, I’ve only read that one and Vera by her but enjoyed them both, though Vera is quite odd and The Enchanted April is one of my favorite films ever 😍
Great haul! I need to check out Armadillo's Pillow. Father is one of my favorite books by von Arnim, and the colors in the cover match your hair ornament--I'm sure it's a good sign! Good to know that the Book Cellar carries British Women Writers. I think you will love E. H. Young. "Radstowe" of her books is based on Bristol, England and the great Clifton suspension bridge figures prominently in the book. The Misses Mallet, William and especially Miss Mole are my favorites. I read The Wanderer some years ago; it is long, but it has so many important things to say about the treatment of women at that time; it will be worth the effort. I've enjoyed many of D. E. Stevenson's books, especially the ones set in Scotland. You may be able to find her books at your library--I'm reading through her works now and quite a few of them are available at the Chicago Public Library, so I'm sure NY should have a respectable selection.
