Always plug a power supply into the OBD2 port so you save your settings prior to disconnecting the battery.
Having that problem right now!!! Thanks for the video..
Muchas gracias por su video . Estoy pasando por lo
Mismo y realmente es muy frustrante, pero gracias a personas como ustedes que se toman su tiempo para ayudar a los demas es que eh podido resolver mi problema , una vez más gracias 🙏!!
I had very similar issue... but I've not heard about the "leave it overnight and it fixes itself" till now so I never tested that method. I have a 2020 bought in 2019 December. Before she turned 2 yrs old, one day my battery died overnight. Couldn't turn the starter. It was November and the temperature dropped a lot. I parked her around 11pm and tried to leave around 7am. So we are talking about 8 hrs and no symptoms prior. I talked to the dealership and they told me it might be because of the cold weather and it would take a few days to check since they were busy. So I didn't leave her there but I was told it is under warranty (3yr/36k miles) they would replace the battery if it happens again. Well the battery was week all the time, have a splitter in the 12v outlet that shows the voltage. I decided to take her back to the dealership before the warranty run out. They replaced the battery for free and I was told they have to check all electrical in this case to make sure it is the battery and the truck doesn't come back. So I have a 2 month old battery and it happened again a couple days ago. The battery was completely dead. I'm talking about opening the door with the hard key. Nothing came on. It was cold again, but it have had cold for a week or so already and started before. After the first incident I invested into a kick start kit as well. That showed me 3.5V in the battery. I started the truck with it and let it run for 5 min without driving it. Tried a few more starts and starts without an issue again. Checked voltage, 12V. Checked the battery voltage the next day without touching or driving, 12 V. I guess the computer gets stuck in a cycle that prevents the truck from starting but that doesn't really explain the low voltage in the battery unless its drawing power or something.
Thank you, you really saved me time and frustration. I experienced the same situation after I replaced the battery.
Glad i could help
Mine did not want to start but when it did the check engine light came on. Did yours do the same?
@papabeartx did your truck develop a flare shift in the transmission at like 5-10% throttle input I read somewhere that someone else had the same issue after they replaced their battery mine done the very same thing and still does to this day I replaced the battery 2 years ago. If I'm more then 10% throttle it shift firm fast and perfect
did you try to zip tie the positive and negative cables together, that's a quick reset
Thank you so much for this video! I have the early 2019 Ram (smaller screen) model and am dealing with the battery. I haven’t been able to drive for 54 weeks because Santa Claus is a JERK & gave me a seizure disorder for Christmas 2022. Right after dinner, I carried the plates to the kitchen, put them in the sink, and then had a seizure. So much fun!
If you have a seizure you cannot drive. You have to be seizure free for 6 months
& cleared by your Neurologist before you can drive again. And, It is all communicated to the state DMV’s. I had 1 seizure on Christmas Day 2022, 5 on New Years Day 2023, 1 in February, & 1 in July. Each time I had a seizure it my reset my Clear to Drive date.
Tomorrow, 01/07/24, I’ll be seizure free for 6 months, and after a long 54 weeks, I am cleared to drive! Just in time for Jury Duty the day after. My family doesn’t like driving my truck and it has sat (all lonely) for too long. The battery was completely dead. I tried jumping it (no go, it needed longer charging) and put a charger on it until tomorrow, so I can take it to get the battery replaced.
While jumping it and then on the charger, the dash screens and the console screen were doing A LOT of weird things. I was thinking that the truck computer had a seizure of its own. Of course, with my luck, this happens on a weekend. So, I start to look things up and the first thing I came across was this video. My truck still has another year on the warranty, so I wasn’t too worried if it needed work.
Seeing your video made my nerves calm down. Tomorrow, I am going out driving for the day. The whole day! For 35 years, the longest I had not driven was 10 days (I was on a cruise). I’ve been going crazy and cannot wait to get out. Thank you for alleviating my worries about my first day of freedom!
Thanks , mine done same thing but day later fixed.
Welcome back
im having a battery issue too, the method won’t work because it won’t last more than a week. it’s being drained by the uconnect. changed battery 2 times, still dying, i told them it’s the uconnect they did everything but the uconnect so far hasn’t been touched and tomorrow they’re finally addressing the uconnect
Same thing right now for me. Mine is only 2.5 years old. I bought it in April 2020. I was so happy because I bought the noco gbx155 jump starter for Black Friday! It was a relief. But I am hoping when I go to the dealership tomorrow that it’s covered under warranty. Two years old and 17,000 miles. I’ve never seen a battery die so quickly
The tires and batteries suck that come with these trucks
So what ended up happening
@@papabeartx rear window has a couple cracks on window frame, third brake light was leaking a little, and shark fin antenna seems loose. But here’s everything I’ve dealt with ever since….
The dealer told me I’m all set and the battery is fine. Before exiting the dealership, I noticed stains on the headliner. They replaced the third brake light and told me it was a newer brake light with a thicker gasket and I will no longer have any issues, but that wasn’t true. They also wanted me to come back in for a water test and they would keep it for a couple days. Very frustrating as I can’t go without a car. I ended up putting marine rubber weatherstripping around the third brake light. Cost me 10 bucks and there’s an air tight seal. I noticed that water continued to come into the truck. After a little bit of trial and error I found out that the rear window frame had a couple cracks along the top. Because water was coming into my truck through the window and the brake light for sometime, it ended up getting onto the electronics hands it created a parasitic draw on my battery. This is why the truck wasn’t starting. As for the window frame, I spent $6 on a tube of Permatex flowable silicone. I ran a bead along the entire top portion of my rear window. So far so good. No water leaks. The shark fin antenna is slightly loose and I decided to put a small bead of silicone around that just to play it safe.
After speaking with dozens of people and reading forums, it seems like anybody who gets a rear window replacement deals with the same issue over and over. My warranty would definitely cover most of this work, if not all of it. But I do not have time to wait for them to fix it. It should’ve been fixed and repaired when Chrysler found out about it years ago after thousands of people complained. At the end of the day, everything was frustrating, but I took care of it for under 20 bucks and you would never notice any silicone or stuff like that.
I apologize for the long response. I hate to say it, but you should go ahead and do what I did. At least put a new gasket around the third brake light. It’s a matter of time before it starts pissing water into the cab. The rear window is most likely going to crack. Keep an eye on it. Just do a little bit of research online and you will see hundreds of people discussing the same issue.
Just ordered some. Did you place the silicone around your 3rd brake light as well?
That happened to me too. I was ready to trade her in😅 Your video was really helpful
Thanks, I was starting the panic mode. I'll sleep OK tonight.
Glad I could help.
Going through this today lol. Hoping in the morning I’ll be able to drive to work being able to enjoy it and actually be able to use my cameras lol. Didn’t buy a new battery just charged it up and it’s a good battery after testing it. I think my dash cam drained it from cutting on at random times. Anyways charged it up and truck starts fine but yeah noticed those weird things on my screen. Like no cameras , unable to go to options , there’s no buttons onscreen for passenger seat heated / ventilation options. Hoping it’s all good in the morning.
Should be working in a few hours
@@papabeartx hoping so , thanks for the info
Did you have any signs of the battery going bad? Mine, made like a pop noise then it went completely black and then said no key fob. Then wouldn't even make a clicking sound.
Everything in my truck still worked at first but it just wouldn't turn over. That's why I didn't immediately think it was the battery
Bro.....get to the point.....
Thank you brother …: screen flipping out no power waiting for triple a to drop in a new battery !
Same thing happened to me Saturday everything already fixed by it self except a/c what should I do????
I didn't have any issues with the ac
You don’t have to wait 24 hours I killed my battery with my dash cam and all I have to do is disconnect my positive or ground for 30 seconds after I run for an hour after a jump start and your all good, it shifts into gears as it wouldn’t before i reset my ecm
So after waiting a while does the system go back to normal or what? I'm having this issue now. Just replaced the battery. Thanks.
Yep I think I explain it in the vid
What battery did you go with? OEM or something from Autozone?
It was the 2nd highest tier battery that they sell. Just in case I want to add more electronics down the road. Also it was from o'reilly's
Did you get a check engine light with the dead battery? I have a P1DF3 code.
Yes
What replacement battery did you go with?
Bro this happened to me today thank you
This literally happened to me last night. When I got off work. Tried to give my co worker a ride and it just did the one click. Got a jump and no camera or anything.
Did you know to just wait a while or did you have to do some research?
@@papabeartx it came back when I started it up again. Got a new battery and all good
A quick question, did you get the engine light on ?
I did this morning /: a My ram rebel not turning on
My Rebel is completely blacked out no lights no anything
Papa…. I thought ya were pushing daisies…. Lol. Yes been awhile. Otherwise how is the Ram treating you?
🤣🤣🤣 The RAM has been good for the most part but I'll drop a video with some of the issues I've had.
My 2021 Ran wouldn't start, just a click. Dealership said everything was fine. Happened over and over, now they changed my starter and battery I don't think the starter drained the battery but it's still under warranty
So what was it
??
Mine said, “Imna need the anti theft code from y’all” I hope it fixes itself ngl
After changing battery were you able to start the truck.
Yes, it started right up
@@papabeartx thanks
Did you leave your battery disconnected for 24 hours?
No
Did the battery fix your problem?
@@bdo9114 yes
My 2019 just did it 3 hours ago. Went to the store started the truck and super slow crank no start. Eventually no crank at all. Tried to jump nothing. Went and got a new battery and boom cranked like new started like nothing happened (chk engine light on) went to autozone to turn in old battery, during this, I tried to back the truck in and the rear camera wouldn’t pop up on the screen. thought that was odd also the screen color and font customization etc was completely different so I thought ok it reset no worries.
Went back to the truck and started up just fine only this time the battery sign was back up! Checked the volt on the dash and it says 11.9! It’s brand brand new should be reading 14 like 5 minutes ago.
Left it disconnected for an hour, came back out connected and started just fine no issues BUT chk engine and battery still reading 11.9…. Back up cam works now too.
So reading on the forums and watching this video hopefully leaving it over night will do the trick.. I’ll update tomorrow and we’ll see. I asked a FB group and one guy said you have to take it to the dealer for a reprogram due to the new battery. WHAT?! I can’t tell if he’s trolling
From my research everything should be working fine in the am. 😎
@@papabeartx I agree! Fingers crossed
@@papabeartx does yours have etorque? I’ve read some issues similar to this isn’t with the 12v and rather the 48v battery that powers the etorque causes issues
No et
@@papabeartx ah ok. Hopefully my problem isn’t the etorque battery..
My battery just died - Thanos blipped my battery! No warning signs just BOOM, dead battery which I think is from this severe heat wave that's going on. Replaced the battery now the check engine light in on. It starts and drives fine - all accessories seem to work normal. I'm going to wait over night before resetting the ECU. A battery replacement should not be this frustrating and weird.
Did the check engine light came on you ??
It wasn't the check engine light but another light I can't remember off the top of my head now but it was unclear what the issue was
See you still have the Ram man I got rid of mine I have a Chevy now 🤜🏾
Yea I think I'm in for the long haul. The dealership offered me just about 10K over what it's worth for me to sell it back to them but there's nothing out there equivalent to what I have in my opinion for the price.
Chev huh smh lol. What did you get?
@@papabeartx 22 Silverado
Done do done lo ❤️👌👌👌
Actually only takes about 10 minutes for the computer to reset the battery. Not 24 hours or even overnight
I have. 2019 Bighorn 4x4 1500 5.7L. I changed out the battery and waited 45 minutes and it’s fine. My son in law told me it only takes about 10 minutes.
