Weeeeell ... there are some of the filler songs from the albums that out of context are only weird. listening to Virgini tres as a piece in of it self doesn't give much. Its there for your mood building as part of listening to the entirety of the album. And Interlude is just an interlude. its funny where it is, but elsewhere just weird.

46&2 would be my pick for next song. It’s a good “beginner” tool song and will have you pumped like this song did. You can’t go wrong with any of their songs though, seriously. It’s just that they have some 10-15 min songs that while absolutely amazing I wouldn’t recommend you diving into without a little more familiarity with them. You’ll appreciate them that much more once tool has you hooked, and trust me, if you liked The Pot, you’re in for a ride.
In order my recommendations for your next 10 tool songs would be:
    46&2
    Sober
    Aenima
    Jambi
    Stinkfist
    Vicarious
    Right in Two
    Lateralus
    The grudge
    Schism
I didn’t even get to list anything off their most recent record. They’re all masterpieces but are all also 10+ minutes and best saved for last in my opinion.
I definitely recommend you making tool a regular part of your rotation. Us fans are very enthusiastic and WILL show up and help grow your channel. Last thing, lyric videos are pretty important with tool, their songs are very deep and meant to be thought provoking. DON’T watch the music videos they have on first listen, they’ll distract you from the music.
    Spiral out
(you’ll know when you do lateralus haha)

    Nice!
”The Grudge” is s really good song. And ”Vicarious”. ”H.W.A.P”. ”46&2”
    So many great songs.
”Ænima” from 1996, ”Lateralus” from 2001 and ”10,000 days” from 2006 are all classic albums, might be a good idea to start with songs from them.
Also, Tool has lots of songs that are broken into different parts on different tracks, and those two or three part songs should be listened to as a whole. ”Parabol/Parabola”, ”Lost Keys / Rosetta Stoned”, ”Disposition / Reflection / Triad” and ”Wings for Marie” parts 1 and 2 for example. Albums sound really good listened to as whole, they’re sequenced very well.
If possible, please avoid both official and unofficial music videos when reacting to Tool songs for the first time - the official videos are cool, but will distract you from the music, 100%.
Fan made lyric videos are often sketchy or plain wrong.

Think for yourself, question authority, pretty much defines the band and their message. Most lyrics can be interpreted in multiple ways. Its up to the listener to determine what each song means to them, and that's what the band's intention is. A lot of people will try to argue about people's interpretation, when in fact there's no wrong meaning. Its good to discuss others ideas but their songs become personal because of the effect they have on people from one to the next. Buckle tight your in for a hellava ride. I'll let others suggest what to listen to next, they really don't have a bad song. Subbed for what comes next.✌🤘

As someone who only listen to TOOL almost exclusively, I would say there are some songs I would recommend you listen to first rather than others.
Some songs are more "traditional" whereas some of their greatest work in my opinion lies in their experimental and progressive songs - even though I wouldn't describe them as songs but more as "experiences".
However these can be somewhat difficult to listen to and therefore difficult to enjoy if you're only familiar with 4/4 time signatures and reoccurring patterns, "normal" songs, since you can have a hard time following if you overthink it and try to play along by predicting what's coming ahead. You won't, even I still sometimes don't. Missing a hit this way makes it feel unsatisfactory rather than if you would've just listened had let them do the work. Once you follow and understand that principle, the trip they can take you on when you sit back, raise the volume, close your eyes, let go and just listen.
-The Pot was a great first pick and is the one I would've recommended to a first time listener since it's in 4/4
-Jambi - Similar to The Pot but in 9/8 and 6/4. Easy to listen to however since it almost feels like 4/4
-Vicarious - Similar again, but my favourite out of the 3
-Lateralus - More of a trip this time, and please do some research into this song either before or after listening in order to understand and appreciate what makes it and TOOL so special.
-7empest - Don't let the fact that it's 16 minutes long scare you away because the "tripping" you'll be doing during it makes time go by faster
-Fear Inoculum - Since you love Maynards singing! This is the song where he in my opinion shines the most.

Late to the party, but mos definitely. Imo, once you've taken the journey and "grown into" Tool, the capstone song is Rosetta Stoned imo. First time I heard it, I was like...wtf is this and immediately turned it. Then after about 6 months of listening to Tool and doing a full run-through of their discography, when I landed on Rosetta Stoned, I was hearing it with new ears. It blew me away. My favorite Tool song changes daily, but their "fine wine" song that only Tool Sommeliers probably appreciate is the insanity that is Rosetta Stoned. That's the finish line imo. When Rosetta Stoned speaks to you, you're journey with Tool is pretty much reaching its midnight hour. Can't get better and get go back and put on different ears.
Rosetta Stoned is the finale for me.

seen them in concert in early early 2020. i have to say that they sound better in concert than they do on studio release. it was crazy, they only get better with age. adam, the lead guitarist, is also a special effects master. he has lots of credits, one is terminator 2, he also does the stop motion, claymation videos for tool. theres talent and hard work pouring out of these guys. the drummer is a beast and some of the concepts of what they play to are very precise and they just fit so tightly together its like a master puzzle with seamless execution.

I'd also suggest looking up the meaning on Genius because you may get mixed messages in the comments. Maynard is an absolute genius lyricist and his songs range from savagely straight forward to deeply introspective. There is usually always a specific meaning that needs to be understood. I'd suggest either looking up the meaning first or afterwards for a lyrical breakdown.

    • @44coma
      @44coma Před 4 lety

      Indeed

    • @1992Apocalypse
      @1992Apocalypse Před 4 lety +1

Completely disagree, the meanings for most tool songs are actually never revealed by the band, and are purposefully left open to interpretation. They have specifically said that they would rather the fans get their own meaning out of it, instead of just telling them. (look up the interview where Adam Jones mentions a fan saying Lateralus was about passion of the christ. He says of course it isn't about that, but told the fan that it was because they found their own personal meaining in it, and he really appreciated that.) Getting mixed messages on the meaning is what it's all about, because it's going to mean something different to each individual, based on their experiences. Besides, i'd rather hear what these songs mean to a person and how it relates to them specifically, rather that going off of whatever genuis may say.

I love watching folks react to the first five seconds of this song. Every time, eyebrows furrow and they’re like “whoa, whaaat?” New sub too, man. Great reaction. Love your energy. Long time Tool fan (1993) and some of their stuff you’re going to want to think of it like going to a symphony concert. Not going to be head banging. But in the right frame of mind you’re going to be going What The Hell Was That? Looking forward to more reactions and keep banging man!

Only reaction channel Ive subscribed to. I watch a lot of these, because I really enjoy watching someone enjoy the music I like. Granted, that keeps me within my musical preference and doesnt allow me to expand my own musical tastes that much, but... that fucken smile, and giddy attitude when the music hits you just right, and youre looking forward to the next one, to see if that feeling stays? Thats awesome. Love it.

Tool consists of 4 band members - Maynard James Keenan- vocals, Adam Jones- lead guitar, Justin Chancellor- bass, and Danny Carey on drums and percussion. They take a lot of time between albums but when they release them they hit hard. The last album, Fear Innoculum, was released in 2019 and went to no 1 on the charts. Check out 46 +2, Schism, Aenema, Lateralus, Right in two, Vicarious, tempest, And Pneuma to get you started.
