- Buffalo Sabres head coach Lindy Ruff and general manager Kevyn Adams addressed the media following the hiring of Lindy as the Sabres' head coach. Sabres owner Terry Pegula opened the press conference with words of confidence in Lindy, as well as respect for Don Granato. Lindy Ruff and Kevyn Adams spoke about accountability, being committed as an organization and team, connecting the coaches and the staff, his expectations of the players, and more.

Incredibly happy that lindy is back not just from nostalgia but like they are saying. Its great to think about past times but right now is when we need to win and pay attention to. Seems like people forgot that Lindy is a top tier coach. What is the right decision? The one that works at the time. Everyone relax enjoy the show. Welcome back Lindy so excited to see what happens..

I feel like all is right with the universe now, Lindy is back where he belongs !! I’m so psyched!!!!!
I just don;t know what to think at this point…. If the goal is making the playoffs then he can probably get the job done. If the goal is to win the Stanley Cup I think we are going to be waiting a few more years. I don’t think we have the players that are going to play with the grit needed to bring it home.
But that's exactly why you make this move. He is the guy who can make our good young players great veterans while we build the team to compete for cups. Maybe he lucks up in the wins one But if he doesn't you build a team with the core and the know-how to win a chip and you go find a coach who can get you over that hump.
Very true, we need to see what we get in a couple of years. Playoffs are not out of the question but they need to get there and learn what it takes to win there as well. Such a yoing team, the defense needs to mature and it takes time
It’s a great start at least, I think if Adam’s make an offseason move or two Buffalo should be looking good next year. Hopefully the boys work their asses off in the offseason. Culture needs to change, it starts with Ruff and ultimately it’s on the team to put in the work. I’m optimistic.
Sabres are back
Well this should end the playoff drought but it won't be easy in the Atlantic Division
He wouldn’t be the first HC to comeback to a team in NHL. Glad they redeemed themselves in bringing him back for that reason alone
Nothing else has worked so perhaps this step back into the past will be the answer. It will take only a year to figure out if he can coach and be connected to the young players. The jury is very much out on this hire. The good news is we will all know very soon if the coach can have an impact. I wish him well.
The more that things change the more that they remain the same. Call me skeptical about Kevyn Adams and this decision to hire back Lindy Ruff, but it is what it is. I have nothing but respect for Lindy Ruff but I don't think this is the right decision by Adam's. If this fails, he will be out of a job too! So, let the games begin! If Ruff brings the Sabres back to the playoffs and beyond I will gladly eat crow!
I agree. Clearly there is 5-6 top coaches that put their teams above and beyond. When I think of success. I do not think of Lindy ruff. Maybe berube or someone who has won

Improve your roster Adams, don't blow smoke up our behinds about how these kids are now veterans and playoff ready and will be held accountable. You have needed a few key parts for a couple of years now to complement the core group of talent you have in order to be successful, they can't do it on there own, you haven't got it done yet, so how long do we have to wait?
I think our fans that say what you are saying here don’t understand Adams. What specific players did you want brought here last season? I can guarantee you there is a logical reason why it didn’t happen. People don’t actually listen to what he says.
@@bjarczyk Last year many players had career years, we had a fantastic opportunity to make the playoffs, which is a level of success all teams strive for. At the trade deadline, Adams did little to ceize the opportunity to bring in veteran talent available at the trade deadline thereby supporting his team to give them a better chance to pick up that 1 point we needed to put us in to the playoffs, which would have changed the mindset, expectations and respect, and perception people have for the franchise. Adding Greenway was good, but he also had injury issues and didn't play every game. What players specifically? Use your imagination, like a good g.m. would, guys like Taffoli, Bertuzzi, Orlov, Anderson, Horvat, Kane, Jones, etc, in other words, talented vets that are about to become free agents on teams that aren't going to the playoffs, you know, like all successful g.m.'s do. Geez.

Lindy Ruff was given a young team in New Jersey and ultimately failed, so what is going to be different this time around? If this hire fails, Kevyn Adams along with his gas lighting BS needs to be shown the door along with Ruff! No excuses!

Kevyn Adams didn't hire Lindy Ruff. Terry Pegula hired Ruff. Stop living in the past Pegula. What's next? Bring back Marv Levy to coach the Bills?

I have no idea why Pegula/Adams never contacted you to be the head coach. Your vast knowledge of calling into radio talk shows or haranguing anonymously on the internet about how you know better than an actual owner, GM, and head coach makes you much more qualified.
