  • CURE advocate and radio personality, Brant Hansen, travels to Uganda to talk with Stephen, one of the bravest dads we’ve ever met. Stephen’s son, Nelvin, is being treated at CURE Uganda for hydrocephalus-a life-threatening buildup of fluid on the brain. In a region where children with treatable disabilities are too often abandoned, Stephen is doing whatever it takes to find lifesaving surgery for his son.
About CURE Uganda: CURE Children’s Hospital of Uganda (CURE Uganda) performs more hydrocephalus and spina bifida surgeries each year than any other hospital in the world. Since opening in 2001, it has emerged as a leader in delivering expert neurosurgical treatment for these life-threatening conditions. Care is provided at no cost to families through generous donors to CURE.

Steven, you are a man among men; strong, caring and loving. You have made enormous sacrifices for the sake of your child. Many men think they are men by playing around, but you my friend willingly chose to take that harder path. The "man" (only by biology) who went away with your wife is a mere shadow compared to you. We will be praying for you and your son. May God bless your future together.
