The title of this short is DIY. But the problem here is that so many narcissistic self proclaimed flooring experts in this comments section are totally ignoring the title and are going after the poor guy who is happy to have done something on his own wthout any help from these clowns who are clueless about what DIY means . Where in the title has he mentioned that what he is doing is the best and only way of fixing this problem unlike some experts who shamelessly claim that they are the inventors of a brand new revolutionary flooring process that nobody else can replicate. Going after a guy who uploaded a simple video about how he did something on his own and it worked out well in the end . This has to be the lowest of the low point in the entire careers of these geniuses who think that a crappy job like flooring is the pinnacle of science and technology . Lol even a orangutan can be taught how to do this after a training period of two weeks using teslas neuralimk. these lunatics are debating about this simple process as if it is akin to a great scientist inventing a time machine...God the fact that these loonies are proud of being able to repair a cracked floor something if given time a 12 year old could easily accomplish is hilarious as f**k
This has to be the best comment I’ve ever received on my channel! It’s now the pinned comment on this viral video, well done 👍 my favorite part was the neurolink orangutans doing diy epoxy haha 🦧 Also think about what we could achieve if everyone put as much effort into blasting this Diy process as they did into making the world a better place…

That's a lot of work ! Final result looks nice 💯💯💯
Nice work I put down epoxy floors for 3 years, they make an epoxy that should be used for cracks refilling with concrete won’t work as well. the best way to pre treat the floor is use a diamond disc grinder, this will open the pours of the concrete, while cleaning off oils. We can poor a garage in 1 go, we use a squeegee to spread then back roll and toss chips. All in all great work
You sir are my hero and very dedicated to getting the perfect job I've done this to a few garage floors now and the only difference is I've decided to no longer use the flakes because you can't ever sweep sawdust or fine dust from the wood shops out anymore with those flakes but I applaud your hard work it looks fantastic 💞
I wouldn't go that far but I appreciate the support! I wish you the best of luck with your future projects!
I feel like if the flakes are effecting it the final sealant isn't thick enough
That's why you scrape the flakes. That way, they aren't sticking up and when you do the topcoat, the floor is nice and level.
Yup. I’d never use it again after mine.
They look good for videos though. You look like you did more 😉
What are the flakes for anyway? I never understood. Are they a slip guard?
I love that you washed the floor before any prepping 👏🏼 Job well done

The process and finished product looks great. Short of actually replacing the concrete, it’s about the best you can do. My only concern is if and when those cracks reappear. Whatever caused the cracking, such as expansive soil, settling, moisture, etc., it will probably continue over time.
Same concern. Makes it easier to clean, but there may not be more than cosmetic improvement beyond that.
Does it in anyway retard the cracks progressing?
@@patshelby9285 not the way he patched it. There’s something causing them. That needs to be fixed. Even a new slab onto would fall victim to the same cracks
That's the new home owner's problem.
Will crack in the same spot in a year, those cracks are due to the ground settling and shifting, without break lines in that slab, it will continue to Crack erratically. Or now, at those spots it's released stress before.
Covering up the problem doesn't fix it,
My guess best way would be to cut lines into the slab
@@davidburdett1920 yea there is something causing it. It shouldn’t crack inside the garage. It cracked because the ground it’s on is moving rather quickly for land movement. Cracks like that shouldn’t appear from nothing. You can tell by the cracks it was due to shifting ground
I actually love the look of the floor without that last sprinkle layer 🧐
It's meant to hide dirt on the floor

Very underrated comment
That looks amazing. I’m afraid your cracks will return bc they are from the foundation weakness.
Ok
Ok
It’s because the original slab didn’t have stress cuts
@@justinjosie5417 what are stress cuts exactly? And should they be done to any slab that’s 4-6” deep?
@@Boogerdick69 a stress cut is a cut that is made in any slab. It should be a quarter of the total depth of the slab. So a 4” slab would have about a 1” stress cut. Any slab of concrete is going to crack. Only very small slabs won’t. The stress cut weakens a part of the concrete so when it does crack it will crack inside of the stress cut so you can’t see it. The cracking will happen because the slab expands and shrinks with the temperature. All driveways will have theses cuts in them. Sometimes they’re cut the day after it’s dry or sometimes they use a tool that makes an indent while its still wet. It just depends on which look you prefer though and which one is easier to do. Sidewalks always have these stress cuts too but they just mark it while it’s still wet. I usually cut slabs around every 10’ or so. So if I have a 20’ x 20’ slab I put two cuts one running vertically and one running horizontally to make a cross.
I have no idea what you just did, but it looks amazing!
I have an external garage with a similar floor, it would be nice to simply fix the cracks in the corners (nothing too bad for now, but prevention is always good).
Do you have a longer tutorial about what products you used?
I had my guy that does some work for me do this same thing for me. The one additional thing that I did and I think it will add life to my floor, is I ordered a vinyl mat for my car to drive on. Looks great
That's gonna crack again since the cause of that is most likely bad foundation and prep before pouring the original/initial concretely.
Debbie downer.
Could easily be the initial concrete had to much water in it. Very common with contractors.
The cracks are going to reopen in the future, but it looks beautiful
You don't know what you're talking about
@@capybara9521 Why is that?
@@capybara9521 I can already see them in the finished part of the video. The foundation is cracked because of the soil condition. Stress on the soil is pushing up in the foundation (or dropping down) and it will continue to get worse.
If the garage is 20 years old im pretty sure everything has settled where its going to stay and it's not gonna crack anymore
@@MitchelPie the soil In manu areas keeps moving. Never stops. The clay in the soil expands when it gets wet. And contracts as it dries out.

Great job! For a DIY it came out great.
I recommends you to grind the floor first and test for moisture and apply moisture blocker if need it but always grind the floor before applying the epoxy if you want last longer results
Yeah this ain't gonna last
Yup. I was lead installer for an epoxy flooring installation company and two roller-applied layers of epoxy without a thorough grinding is going to get peeled up in no time by hot tires. Foot traffic only might be fine for 2-3 years if he's gentle but nothing past that. An aliphatic urethane or polyaspartic top coat is also my recommendation, it doesn't react with UV light and turn yellow with time.
That said this guy did a great job with the flakes, when I was training new crew members it was always really difficult getting an even, consistent look without a lot of practice
