    On my John Deere X485 the mower deck will not engage. I have found that it was a electrical problem. I did the eight step check to find the problem. Follow me through the steps. I am not a john deere mechanic, just trying to find the problem with the knowledge I have. Come along for the ride.

    Sir. I have been looking to find instructions on how to take the dash off in order to get to the wiring underneath it for weeks.
    This helped me, tremendously.
    Thank you for sharing!

    You just saved me at least $300 not having to take my x475 to John Deere. I had already replaced the PTO switch and brake switch with no luck. After watching your video, I replaced the reverse switch and PuhPow, my PTO now works like a dream again... Thanks for posting!

    Good video and the actual proper way to approach the job, do the homework on your machine and print it out for reference. It sure isn't the procedure I would have used but then again based on the fact I do it everyday I don't need to. However to be fair using your method is the correct way, for any diy'er !

      I have not had that problem! but the hydraulic on off switch is on the back in the weather. Mine has problems with the wire on the switch. I just keep fixing it the part is pricey.

    would the PTO work without the reverse switch connected ?

    • @OmFishing
      @OmFishing  Před 3 lety

      The way the switch is wired with one side NO and the other side NC I don't think it would work. Because when you put it in reverse the switch reverses the to NO to closed and NC to open.
