I Run a horse rescue centre in England. And I use the market harborough all the time it is with out doubt the best training aid you can use. I puts the horse int the correct position with little interference from the rider. It engages the hind legs effortlessly and when you let the horse off to stretch out . the horses are looking for the contact and will really stretch long and low.
It is nice to see a video about this aid. I rarely see anyone using it in England.

I see no long term damage done but have also experimented and noticed very positive Veterinary improvements in HOrses that are suspect in the stifle or sacro. The building of longitudinal muscles, top line and build up and repair of stifle and sacro issues is real. However, due to my horselaw com au site, it is my secret weapon for the diagnosis of Veterinary issues, both real or Rider induced. Regards

Hello John, I run barrels in the US. I train my own horses generally, and am looking for some new ways to get them sitting and rating, I know that this starts in the foundations of the horses. I was curious if you thought a German martingale would help? It sure feels like (and looks like in their videoed runs) more poll flexion, and learning to collect on their hind-ends would be advantageous. Thanks!

I have a question: If the Martingale is so useful, why do American trainers not use it, particularly those who train Quarter horses and western saddle horses in general.

Hi there would you be able to let me know an approximate length of the strap that goes from the central ring at chest to the clips that attach to the reins?

How often and for how long would you recommend to use german martingale? When can I stop use them, and proceed without the german martingale?
I get the feeling that if I use this too much, I might not get the horse to flex without the german martingale. I have seen people use helping-equipment too much, and that they simply can't ride the horse collected without them, and I don't want that to happen.
    Thanks for this video :)

Hi John I have a question, I know that you had said you should only use the german martingale with snaffle bit, but I was wondering if it could be used on LG Bridle . Any information would be great! and how much is your german martingale in US dollars?

And whats with the names of these training aids. In Ireland I've learned, that running rein are mostly called "German rains" I guess we have to take the blame for that. There is a lot of crappy riding going on lately. But I've never seen the so called "German Martingale". It's completely new to me. And there are a LOT of more or less dangerous and useless training aids on the market here :o)
