Wanted to watch this live but my graduate paper was a little more involved than I anticipated. Watching now. Thanks for these, you guys rock!
This was a very good episode with a very informative guest. Look forward to the book!
I have so many more questions for him. To just brush over a prisoner exchange and not dive into that really hurt. This was a awesome podcast but it could have been another two or three hours longer. I'm sure he had to leave early, but this interview left me wanting to know more.
Ditto
This episode was surprisingly pleasant, I was not expecting much but this dude is a great guest and seems like a really good dude, he’s articulate and smart and it wasn’t hard listening to him speak. That was a great episode you should have this guy back on for more Ukraine stories
Thank you for your work guys !
As a Brit the intro sounds like a spoof to me. Or an Action Man (GI Joe) advert.
✌️🇬🇧
It 💯 did, I laughed. It sounded like an over dramatic cop scene from South Park lol
37 mins in totally think the same jackanory
Was one of the most interesting episodes.
FFL contracts are five year long and you can apply for French citizenship after completing one contract
Legionaire here. This story checks out.
Hey! I randomly found your comment, man :)
Gtsy
Have an interview with 1st battalion commander. You guys still over there?
@@sandymckerchar3287 Hey Sandy. Yep, still here. I'm not in the Legion currently, but will return. I live in Ukraine. I just did a livestream with 2 ppl who came back from Ukraine, specifically to inform those planning to come.
Jack looks like he can’t wait for this to be over haha 😂😂
Hudson Sullivan is an absolute legend. Thank you for sharing.
Guy Ioves hearing himself talk
Good job hes on a podcast then
Great episode as always!
I’m a simple man, I hear Dr Kotkin mentioned and I upvote
Great interveiw
The first 6 beers before u can get a line , makes me anxious like this. I can feel it through the screen. Been ther.
Very interesting!
I've heard so many "horror" stories from the foreigners that joined the International Legion, which all left & then signed contracts with the Ukrainian military instead. Guys still with them are staying they haven't been paid at all since joining also.
I guess its gotta be like a calling for a lot of folks going there to defend democracy and don't mind doing it on their own dime for a while.
@@jportega9404you know anything about that place before the war? 😂 like I wanted to fight but I don’t want to die for them. Lol.
I wouldn't exactly say "democracy" like what you're familiar with but certainly not as terrible as Putin's authoritarian Russia.
@jportega9404 im not sure there is more freedom of speech in today's America in comparison to russia
@@arimoff Alexey Navalny, Anatoly Levin-Utkin and just about any journalist who ends up whacked after writing stuff thats not kissing Putin's ass
Serving 8 years, practicing for war, learning about war, being talked to about war, being lead by guys who have seen war, and never going, never getting to know if I would be able to handle it, follow, and lead my guys always got to me even more so when afghan fell. Then ukrain happened. One of my officers went and never came back made me really think about it. But my family needed me after never really being with me during training or deployments. I have gotten better, and accepted that it wasn’t my fault or anything I did, it just wasn’t my time. But I’ll always have the itch to know. And I’ll always miss the clowns getting beat and shit on by the circus.
The silent professional 😅
Outstanding episode! Very informative.
This was a interesting episode. 👍
Anyone know why this isn’t downloadable? I’m flying tomorrow and was hoping to listen on the plane.
Takes time to process. Check again closer to departure
Thank you. Appreciate the reply!
It is available for download now.
There's like a million ways to download youtube video and audio...
@@frankschaeffer8153and yet you don’t share one of them. Clearly, the man needs some help. Help a brother out, my man
This guy is a dork
I'd rather say he's demonized
I’m just glad that he’s not trying to hide the OUN flag. Good thing my grandpa married a Polish woman in America instead of Galicia lol
I've been trying to get to this for several days and sat down to listen/watch about 10 minutes ago. The sound is off/weird it also isn't quite matching the mouth movements. I think it's your mics, I noticed the sound quality itself seems to have degraded lately - I'm a recent sub so I have watched really old episodes recently as well. Anyway, I don't know if this will help and hopefully falls under "Constructive Criticism" lol. I hope so.
5 years in the French Foreign Legion and they will give you anew citizenship

This guy's mainspring is wound to tight
Yo I would wish I'd have seen the sooner I ran into him and Jackson a bunch of other guys, too.
But it's good to see you mongo. My name's Fisher, by the way. 3:56
What is the pay?
Cool version of the military? So hands in your pockets and walking on the grass?
What was the name of that professor ? Steven Caulkin ? What is the exact spelling, I would like to listen to him.
@@eddiethatch5060 Thank you! Listening to him now.
Lex Friedman has 2 great interviews with him on his podcast.
im gonna wait for that eventual episode where a CIA PMOO dude who served in Ukraine gets on the show
There are some innacuracies. You cant just create unit. You are under military intelligence umbrella and you get assigned the worst and shitty missions aviable with zero support. Most of the teams get wiped out or disband.
guest is on stimulants of some kind. and keeps ashing his stogie when it doesnt need ashing.
Don't get involved in a war you don't understand.
That goes for you more than him.

Soldiers of fortune.
Better than being a keyboard warrior.
@@Morningstar_Actual well....if we are talking drone pilots....
@@Morningstar_Actual Really? You think former soldiers should be able to privately involve themselves in other countries's wars?
@@greggrimer1428 this guy wasn’t a soldier but yes I do, if they believe in the cause. Why shouldn’t someone be able to do what they want when it isn’t a conflict of interest?
@@SSAe2 a mercenary isn’t a part of a country’s military. The legion is a part of Ukraine’s armed forces.
“Basic firearms instructor from law enforcement” made me laugh so hard.
Idk about him but the guys I used to work with were absolutely turds. I went to the academy and even swat and it was all a joke man. I hope other agency’s do better then the one I was at.
Practical tactical
18:47 is this still stolen valor if you’re lying to get into combat?
Cool stuff, but give this guy some weed next time, slow him down a bit.
Does he know Boneface?
No because he was never there
Am i getting played by listening to this guy? Why does this seem so...off?
he seems like he's high on coke or adderall
I've heard people hasn't been getting paid all they are owed. A little corruption maybe ?
I suggest you change your introduction. The conversation startd nicely but I have left the building.
No
A few thing’s missing from the narrative he’s following, his source missed - The 60k strong,NATO trained and equipped army on the Donbass contact line, days away from invading the Donbass, remember, the Donbass peoples didn’t want to join the coup government, they were the real patriots of Ukraine who wanted to stay with the democratically voted government. Putin had spent 8 years trying to have the Minsk accords (signed by everyone, sponsored by Germany and France) implemented. Russia faked played Ukraine to the negotiating table, which worked with a draft resolution paper signed by March but then PM Boris Johnson visited Turkey and persuaded the nazis not to sign. The withdrawal from Kiev etc was a show of purpose by Russia. Russia has never had parity in troop numbers then Ukraine but has successfully destroyed 3 nazi armies, the BBC has sent a team into Russia to count the war dead, to date its about 100k casualties with around 50k dead. Ukraine to date has suffered over 1 million casualties and 500k KIA. Sad state of affairs
😂😂😂
Dont know how this channel popped in to my feed. But that intro is beyond ridiculous. Is that the "bad cop" from SouthPark?? And the audio doesnt match up... this is really weird, Man. And Ive got to turn my playback speed to 75% for this guy lol... I almost feel bad for continueing to edit and add to this comment, but his body language and half assed no answer answer to "how do you form a unit" ... He didnt start no GD unit, come on now lmao... Does he know that candy means coke?
Is it just me or does talk fast, glossing over important points? The story is all over the place. So many words are spoken but not much is said. His body language is strange also. Touching is shoulders, his chest, neck, legs, closing his mouth, and not holding eye contact at vital parts. I imagine it is not easy to talk about an ongoing war as a solder.
😂🤣😂🤣😂
@5:31 what is he talking about?!?!? Units in Ukraine upload videos daily of current combat…the trigger pulling is the most it’s ever been…LOL he goes it’s like 2005 in Iraq, it’s pretty much over….LOL this dude has NO IDEA what he’s talking about…
@@eddiethatch5060 there is 1000 volunteer units that pay…they all have CZcams channels…there is an abundance of contract work there…this guy is not a trigger puller though, he said it in the beginning, he did MP work and now works in IT…and in iraq the contract work went well into the 20’teens…
@@eddiethatch5060 whether government or private or volunteer…you’re getting paid at the end of the day for soldier skills in Ukraine…and there are plenty of trigger puller positions available…they need people now more than ever…it’s documented all over YT…and there is a reason Ukraine is not releasing its casualty figures…it’s at least double or triple what the Russians numbers are…they need more people now than anytime before and they are willing to pay for it…and the “private army’s” you keep referencing are all volunteer work, they label themselves volunteer so they get government funds and assistance to operate…the private army’s are there 100%
@@eddiethatch5060 been following this conflict for 500+ days…haven’t you??
I have fellow service members who been there and are currently there, and it’s documented all over YT…
God Bless The International Legion of Ukraine Volunteers 🦾🇺🇸🦾🇺🇸🦾🇺🇸

Oh they all gone now,
Pure amateur hour. We occasionally came across fast talking men like this in Vietnam. Mainly French, some from Quebec... Most ended up running bars, dealing drugs and finally in the prison system. One characteristic they all shared was an inability to tell the truth. Should immediately lose their citizenship - completely untrustworthy.
Yeah I’d guess there’s maybe a half truth in what he said. There were a few red flags before but when I heard “left to form my own unit” I knew. He also didn’t say much about drones or arty, when they are by far the most notable thing about the war.
Ugh. This should not be admired or turn into a celebrity
Nothing good about the Ukraine situation except for those who make money from war ! Negotiate the Peace
US/NATO doesn't want peace
its kinda easy talking when it is not your country being invaded huh?
Cant negotiate for peace. Even Chechnya kicked them out the first time and Russians came back for more. You wouldnt negotiate if you got invaded.
@@stellarmella9557...So you would not negotiate a peace? Do you realize people are dying over there?
Russia can just go home though
Self declared "hero"? MONGOL Sullivan?
Paulaner familiar choice of beer nice ! After his trip to ukraine get that that guy a Augustiner edelstoff 🫡
