How to Prepare San Pedro: Best, Fastest, and Easiest Method

- I decided that I would remake my San Pedro Preparation video when it hit a 100k views. I learned a few tricks and made a few adjustments that save time and reduce bitterness, and so this is the Even Better Best Way to Prepare San Pedro.
Huachuma is powerful medicine for body, spirit, heart, and mind. Respect and caution is necessary, because of variation in the potency of material. 12-18 inches per person is a standard recommendation, although older, thicker cactus, obviously less. Just a few simple steps. .
I do not mention in the video the importance that shamans place upon maintaining the energy of the space throughout, from harvest to cup, This is in my experience, something to take seriously. It certainly can't hurt. The mind is focussed on some specific or general intent, and tobacco smoke is blown (especially before harvesting) or Icaros are whistle-blown into the medicine from time to time while cooking, and just before serving.

Eh-yeah!!!!!
Love the info about long time boiling. Makes sense. In the 70s before much info was available we boiled it for 3-5 hours to reduce and had great earth loving , life changing experiences. We didn’t know about the core and skin but was still beautiful
Bro you’re a bad ass thank you for posting this. Wow…… thank you for posting this I respect you a lot . Salute , real recognize real
Also the quality of this new video is incredible… thank you for making a new one with your new experiences and growth.

I really like what you have going on in your kitchen. And thank you so much for remaking this and refining the technique - I'm looking forward to doing this for myself some time. ;)
I’ve never seen one of your videos before but I really enjoyed this and it was extremely helpful. Looking forward to seeing some of your new videos! 😁
Awesome!!! Welcome and let me know if I can be of service.
I just bought my first san Pedro today and named it pickle. Imma check out your channel
Learning a lot from your channel. Much love and blessings, mate!
Hell yeah! Thanks for droppin the knowledge man!

I ate the green parts raw when I was in Ecuador. Still had a warm experience :) very insightful!
While preparing the infusion enjoy a green smoothie, :)
Did you get a buzz?
I remember the first time I had T. pachanoi me and some friends did consume some of the skin, it was pretty brutal to get down even blended. Shit that was deep though, full on energetic pulsing waves coursing through the body, up to that point that was the most intense journey I'd be on. I ended up projectile vomiting pure green at around 6am. I've been growing these medicine cacti for 20 years now. Good times 👍🤙🌵
Sounds familiar
Do you find that the cactus elevates blood pressure,? I stopped eating shrooms because of this. I don't know if all psychedelics elevate pressure
@@arnyarny77
I'm not sure about that, I very rarely ingest cactus.. maybe once every few years. Mushrooms I often microdose, but I haven't noticed any issues tbh.
That San Pedro Paste sound interesting, please a video of this would be amazing. Thanks for the videos man!!!

Same ! Just bought a cutting , that has a tiny baby growing off the top . I’ll be waiting a while , but I’m excited
On the topic of heat, you're never really heating it beyond 212F/100C because there's water in the solution. I'm sure that if the water dries up then you'll find a way to overheat the alkaloids.
Enjoy the video! Always wondered how this work. Would love to start growing san pedro myself. The wife already grows some cacti, she enjoys them much more than normal house plants lol peace and love brother ✌️
TLDR: you cant overheat things if you keep them wet, if your goods dry out while they are still on heat your screwed!
Water boils and turns to steam at 212F. This may sound obvious, but the steam is carrying excess heat away. This stops the solution from ever going above the boiling point of the liquid (water in this case). So it doesn't matter if someone boils for an hour or 18 days, the temp is never going to get above the boiling point of the water. The thing to watch out for would be boiling the water out becomes then the temp can spike to what ever temp the heat source is, which will definitely destroy alkaloids. Thing about making mashed potatoes on the stove, if you are not stirring well you can burn the potatoes on the bottom of the pot. That happens because the potatoes on the bottom dry out and they can now get to hot.
Same goes for cactuses, anything burnt to the bottom of the pot when you are done is wasted. be extra carful when you are concentrating your cactus juice, if you let it dry out while its still on the stove you definitely can destroy all of the Alkaloids.
Excellent video man down to earth and knowledgeable
Can't thank you enough.Great video

I always use lime juice to increase ph it always helps with nausea but can make it hard to swallow versus vinegar! Lime helps the liver process toxins it's why it's used in so many alcohol beverages! I always drink it in about 8 ounces of liquid.
One of the best cooking tutorials I've seen and I've watched a lot. Question - my cactus is approximately 20 inches long by 2 inch wide. How many doses should that equate to?
It depends upon potency, but probably a bit more than 1. I use usually 18 inches per person
Very cool 😎
This the kinda vids I gotta save in case you get deleted- got the info in my head but still
Omg.. look at that P.Viridis in the background ,live in Australia and have just started growing viridis. Lil bit jealous tbh
Can i also ask ,I think I can see B.Caapi growing in the background, does it choke and kill what ever species it decides to latch on to?
K Trout, who is a very knowledgeable and reliable source about all things cacti, stated that his research indicated most of the desired alkaloids are within the epidermal layer. His testing did not find a significant percentage within the pith or core.
The core is generally regarded as useless creo que si
just in time for tomorrow for my full moon ritual... I thought once upon a time about making my own how to prepare San Pedro video, but its pointless when you can just come here!! Is it bad that sometimes I don't even remove the wax and throw it straight in the blender, cook it down and strain? lol
Its only bad if you cant handle the purge. From a shamanic point of view, more purging means better medicine. So there's that.
ty for the video very helpfull. for how long can i store the tea. and is it okay to use appel cider vinege
I dont know about apple cider vinegar. You can keep the tea forever. If it smells fermented, boil for a few minutes and its fine again. CHeers!
About time I had a wee wonder
Love the intro music! SLEEP! 🤘🤘
hey great video. i’ve never tried san pedro but i’ve tried a bunch of other psychs and i’m excited to try this one but i have a question. once you get the light green tea after you strain it, do you have to boil out the water and make it the dark green color or could you just drink it right when you strain it? i’m just wondering cuz i really don’t want to mess this up.
Either way. Concentrated is easier
You are really a source of pretty amazing knowledge. lots of tips came from your video, man. I am truly impressed. I'll use white vinegar next time and I got something for you. I did this put it in the freezer shit. And now I would say, first take the meat out and just then use it when you take from the freezer just what you need. THe green shinny meat. love you man, keep posting,,,
Cheers my friend…
good song
Your awesome! Thank you for your teaching. Do you have any knowledge about Peruvian Torch?
It is roughly the same
Thanks for the video man, very good info!
Ive noticed when storing the finished product in the fridge it has started to seperate into dark at bottom and lighter green liquid at top, will it be ok to just shake n mix before consuming or would I need to boil again?
all good unless fermenting occurs
in which case boil for a few minutes
Thanks brother, you make it sound easy …lol…peace…
Probably because it am tho.👽
Great video and subscribed. Gonna try this method today. Have some that I've been growing forever but wanted to get a good preparation method before I cut it. Had a question on the garbled sound in the warning part though, is that something utube did?? would think they would let that part be known?
I don’t remember
Very informative. I'm going to order some fresh cuttings. Thank you. If you don't finish it all, how long will it last in the refrigerator?
Years
From my experience, if you chuck the stars in a bowl and freeze & thaw you dont even need to blend. It also eliminates the slime that can develop. Why this is, IDK but anything that makes filtering a breeze is a godsend for me. .
My experience doesn’t jive, and the toxic all’s found in skin will be there, slime or no
Its protected by the water. If you overheat the dry powdered or paste extract, then thats where you have to worry about too much heat. At that point, i normally just use sunlight though.
The disclaimer assured me I was in the right place.
Good
you can also extract with grain ethanol.
You will loose other alkaloids though
I have just done this method and thank you for uploading this video; very easy to follow and complete. I am having a little trouble as to know how far to boil the end product down to achieve the 1oz dosage. I have boiled it down a 19inch San Pedro into about one glass full of dark green liquid but am unsure if I need to keep reboiling down or not to concentrate it more? Just a little worried about taking too much and blacking out. Can you give me any tips on how much I should boil it down or whether drinking this whole glass would be safe? Just need some guidance. Cheers for the awesome video mate.
There is no way to know how potent the cactus is.Try 1/2 wait at least 1.5 hours. Good luck
lol howd it go??
this is way fuckign different from the other video holy shit lmao
love it
Hey man, love the video. I got a question- how long is the tea good for? Like if i make it, how long would it be fine to have and still be able to use? Thanks man
Forever, really. If it smells fermented, reboil for a few minutes. It will last longer than you will live.
@@Illumignostic right on man, appreciate it
Thank you for the video! Is it possible to reduce to paste and sell it bse to easy to ship ! Iam Europe Thanks

I am going to make some tea out of the Bolivian torch. My cuttings are near as thick as the pieces you are using are approx twice the width. Does this mean I should use 2 feet since 2 ft of these cuttings are 1/2 the width of yours?
Merch is now live! www.etsy.com/shop/TriclopsGear
Length of cactus (1-3ft) to remaining liquid = dosage...so consider if you brew a given length say 2 ft for discussion, brew it in a given volume of liquid then condense it to a given amount say 5 oz it's 5 oz/dose. so say you process 21 ft. and condense it to say 14 oz you divide 21 by 3 ( I always did 3 per dose) you have 7. 14 divided by 7 = 2 oz...still tho this vid takes some extra steps so his methos probably is more efficient in total extraction then what I discovered back in my days of trials..haven't done this in a long while so we're building on a foundation of knowledge. have a good flight! I'll add I used a juice extractor and used all liquid in the cactus. no water added. used the entire cactus too nothing wasted.
Hi. I was wondering does it matter what type of cultivar the San Pedro cactus is? I am looking to order it online and want to make sure that I purchase the right one. Thanks!
7:06 you don’t need to control the fire, boiling water is ALWAYS the same temperature, it’s a phase transition temperature, only changes if pressurized
It’s not just boiling water. As the water reduces, the masterial can get too hot and burn
I got a green ish brownish liquid is that fine after cooking Mabye 2-3 shots here afte the brew cooked around 20 inchs
Badass video bro, thanks for sharing some of your wisdom, I just bought a cactus and I’m going to do it your way and give this crazy shit a try!🤢🤮😝 Any suggestions on what to do on your first time taking this?
Yes be really careful, especially if you’re working with a cactus you haven’t tried. Take a little, and wait for 2.5 hours before taking more. Blackouts happen quite often. Also it last forever so start early

Great info as always! I've had some cactus for about a year which I dehydrated and ground up into course powder. I'm not really sure what to do with it. Would you recommend trying this method to bring it back to life?
YOu could capsule 15-30 g's . and not have to drink it. Obviously you're going to need a lot more water to rehydrate cactus.
Can you put the powder in honey and mix it with a nice ginger tea bag and some hot water?
1st video I e watched if yours. Freaking great
1oz usually good 3oz usually not good
Cheers
Whats the song in the opening
You teach well
Gracias!
Will I vomit more if I use the white “meat” part of it between the core and green layer? And is throwing up inevitable when taking it no matter what part you use?
Hello I love your video, I have a question I hope you can help me with. I followed your procedures to make the cactus tea. I started with three 18 cactus pieces. I blended and boiled 2 times for over 6 hours. The tea was a light green. Then I reduced the tea to about 2 cups. Due to the concentration the tea became dark green. I then put it into a glass jar and refrigerated with plan’s for my birthday next weekend. I noticed a white fine sediment at the bottom of the jar after it was sitting. Is the white sediment the alkaloid? I will stir it before drinking. Thanks
The white sediment is just sediments, lol
@@Illumignostic thanks for your quick reply. I can’t wait to try it next weekend.

question about the hash like stuff.
would it need any more preparation afterwards to be able to eat/smoke it?
Can’t smoke it. Best to dissolve in warm water before drinking.
Have you tried extracting alkaloids with pressure-cooker?
Afraid not
You should do an experiment to find out which part of the cactus is the most potent.
Do extractions on different parts and take them separately and compare results.
People have published online analysis that show even distribution throughout. I have friends that have gotten results that suggest that the green layer is three x's as potent.
@Humble 9300 people say that, but supposedly analysis shows that alkaloids are distributed evenly. Jury is still out.

When I leave my San Pedro tea in the fridge it separates with a clear black watery stuff at the top and thick green sediment at the bottom.
I was hopeful the sediment was waste and I could drink just the black stuff, or does it all contain mescaline?
I would mix and drink
Hey man just cooked some up now bro ended up doing the hash method how long does it last and how do I store it? Also is it OK if I go burnt bits mixed up amongst the gooey hash ? Sorry if that makes no sense

Not that I know of
Add it to your compost or garden. It'll feed the microorganisms
love your videos, commenting from Australia
I've got 500 or 800 grams of frozen cactus skin in the freezer i reckon i will cook up soon.
Lucas, I have this growing in Australia. I recently cooked some to try and it was mindblowing. Careful it's a medicine not a party drug.
@@jimbaillie0 yeah mate, not fun at all at a party lol
hello it's always me, you showed that by further boiling the filtered liquid we can get that brown paste, how should it be stored?
Fridge probably best, but any where is ok. Will last a long time, especiallty f thoroughly dried
For an "insider" this was really entertaining. I never found it to be necessary to save time when brewing it, because the beginning of the process is part of the whole experience, but I do get those people, who are looking for a fast way to do this.
In 1994 I bought a San Pedro with an instruction for its preparation. The next 20 years I brewed once a year a dose for me to consume and since Trichoceraeus Pachanoii grows like a weed, there are now about 50 cacti in and around my town. Over the years I've somewhat finessed "my" method* and erased certain unnecessary steps with the aim to reduce superfluous steps and to minimize the horrible taste**. I can only emphasize the use of a very good filtering appliance (I prefer a fine cloth), the use of lime- or citrus-juice with the finished product AND the mental acumen to consume it very slowly in 20min intervals - who wants to asphyxiate himself by gulping an overdose???
*30cm length, 5-6cm diameter, removal of the middle part, cooking the piece for three hours, scraping the gooey mass from the skin with a knife and cooking it another two hours, sieving it thoroughly, reducing the brew to 600ml, adding the citrus-juice to my liking and keeping the whole mess in a thermos-flask
**when I brewed it the first time my product tasted like bitter mud, 20 years later it tasted like medicine
Does the freeze/ thaw method still work after you make the purée?
Thank you, your vids are very informative.
You must freeze/thaw before purée to remove skin
@@Illumignostic and by that you mean 18 inches of all of that cactus? So you mean an 18 in cactus is the dose per person?
@@andrewcollins208 correct
Should be quite strong
I'm already in the process so this will be for future attempts for me but I have a few questions. When you boil the broth down, and get the plant matter and liquid, which are you using? I was under the impression you want the liquid but apparently that block of plant resin stuff is golden too? Also, should one stir their mixture as it boils? Thank you for the video brother!
The plant resin is just the concentrated liquid. Stir from time to time.
Well, as far as heat, if you have water and it’s not under pressure, the temperature will remain the same no matter how big the flames, or time.
Ok but doesn't water stop existing in the states we recognize without pressure??
Hey, awesome video. This one and the first one I use as a reference I think they're the best on this platform. But I'm confused about the freezing process. Could you make one more video being very specific on that? I froze it three times, and now am I supposed to let it thaw for several hours before I peel away the skin?
yes. Freeze/thaw, repeat 3x's, last thaw peel skin
@@Illumignostic Thanks for the reply. You already got a sub from me for sure. When I tried yesterday it was a sloppy mess, the dark green stuck to the skin. I'll try again today and let you know how it goes. Thanks again man!
